I finally tried RR10 after finishing my third ER10 bottle in the last 3 years. I have to say I prefer RR10 + it's way more available in my area under $35 than ER10. ER in my area is usually $50+. Only one grocery chain sells it's at $35 once a year or so.
If you only bought 1 what you going with?
I believe ER takes the blind for me. Its very distinct over Russells. Russell is underwhelm to me were ER is more balanced. Both are worth msrp but not worth over paying for the ER by any stretch.
I’m super picky about my scotch’s but I’m I’m excited to try this one if I ever find it
Can’t wait for the next part in this series, my wife joined the Disney day drinker club but I’m all about the bourbon so I appreciate your insights

I thought this one was very good. Not as good as Charlie’s batch or the Mighty Fine Batch, but very enjoyable. I should have the Beam House Batch by next week. Great review!

Penelope is a Rye too. That makes a big difference.
@@jeffscalfano3100 makes a huge difference for sure. All those herbal/Minty notes come on super strong.
Looking for the rye but its tough to get in my area. But I do enjoy Penelope for sure the 9 year is just a banger bottle.
@umami0247 the rye is hard to find! I've only seen it a couple times in my area. I think they're doing a 2024 release as well though so keep an eye out for that 😁
I just killed off a bottle of Penelope myself. I must say, you did it with much more style and grace.

Not sure what the mash bill is to make a comparison.. Russel 10 is "75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley' and Eagle Rare Mash bill #1 is low rye but not sure what that is."low rye mash bill consisting of 10% or less rye" I do agree, that Russel 10 wins because you can actually get it. As opposed to anything other than bottom shelf Buffalo Trace products.

I'm a central Florida guy too! Try Polite Pig in Disney Springs... They have a nice bourbon bar... my daughter bought me a pour of Pappy's 23 there for my 70th birthday. It was very, very, very expensive, but it was on my bucket list and she didn't hesitate !! We need more hunters (and better bottles) in central Florida. Keep up the good work.
Polite pig is a great place to find all the goods! I visit there frequently 🔥
I finally found a Eagle Rare 10 and haven't opened it yet. The Russel's 10 year is delicious.

These sound good but they want $350-400 for these in my area and I will continue to pass on them. Great blind though.
It took me awhile for find the 2023 for less than $300, I settled for $250+ tax because I enjoyed the previous years release!
I was worried about buying the new release but now I want to try it!❤❤
See if you can find it at a local bar first, but I've enjoyed the last 2 years of releases!
I’m a fan of AE haven’t ever seen the cask strength unfortunately. I wish they would put it out at 50abv instead of 86 but that isn’t going to happen. I will say I really like your display wall honeycomb very nice. Enjoy!!

Your review of Traveller is dead on. It is Bourbon with training wheels. Nothing to make it stand out but not memorable enough to buy again.

I feel like the reviews are in the middle. People are just unsure what to make of it mostly because of the hype behind it.
I can see that as well. It was hyped because buffalo trace products always are and add in the celebrity side of things I think people were expecting a lot and it just didn't live up...
Pass for me on Traveller, but good content.

A friend and I recently did a tasting flight that was Buffalo Trace, Traveller, Eagle Rare, and Blanton's. We finished up with a comparison between a regular Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit and a store pick Kentucky Spirit. The Traveller finished dead last.
It's just sad that a bottle with so much "hype" fell so flat. Really disappointed...
It's a mixer imo. Barton mixed with Canadian, great in a coke. I like it fine but not at 40 dollars.
The price is too high without a lot of reward, it's okay but not worth it for 40!
Just not something I’m interested in. And it’s funny that it has zero buffalo trace in it. Again their marketing team are geniuses. I’m not a buffalo chaser I don’t camp and in my area that’s the only way you’re ever going to get a bottle. Just to many other great bottles that I can just walk in and get every day.
There are bottles all over the shelf in WA. Barton distillate is fine though.
I bought it because it was all over in FL, it was easy to get and I figured I should try it. Won't be buying more!

If you are new to whiskey and like water... then you might like it... but if you like flavor at 40 there's lots lots better options out there.
