Laying It Down & Raking It Up!
MK Livestock was formed by my wife and I. We work to raise high quality Simmental and Gelbvieh cattle that are both competitive in the pasture and the show ring. Ride along as we’ll share the journey of working cattle, various projects on the farm, and making hay. We appreciate the support as we work to make our passion a reality.

    • @mklivestock1020

      I used ag lime. Works really well if it’s wet and you pack it down really tight with a packer. I redid the stalls last fall and since I packed it down really tight I haven’t had any issues and have had calves In it all winter. I’ve started putting rubber mats down as well just to make add an extra layer of durability

    Please reconsider using this due to the possibility of chemicals from the tire leaching into the water, especially when exposed to heat and sunlight 😬 Wire ingested by cattle from the tire can also lead to the potentially fatal hardware disease. The wire can also cut or poke the cattle.

    I just found your channel and I’m impressed with your hoop barn. I particularly like how you elevated the sides to give you a section of straight wall and the jig you came up with to help position the hoops on top of the wall plate. How is the tarp roof performing? Do you think it be possible to use the type metal (as you used on the sides) to cover the roof in place of the tarp? Thanks for posting your building and happy holidays.

    • @mklivestock1020
      @mklivestock1020 Год назад

      Thanks for watching! The tarp is good, it has a 15 year pro rated warranty on it so it’s built to last for a good amount. As far as using the metal in place of it, I don’t think it would would out. The tarp helps to hold everything together, and with the curvature im not sure how well it would bend around it, and you would also have to run more pieces down it to attach the metal to. Hope this helps!
