You can absolutely use Demonic Circle in a pinch, though part of Demonic Circle also removes "slows". On paper, this isn't an issue, but in practice, it can cause the puddles to not root you in place properly and can get you killed if it's not timed right.

Thanks for the feedback! Primarily, this is simply a Basics Guide, and I was going into with the intent of simplifying the rotation/priority list to where it was easier for newer players to get into understanding the class. I intend on making a more advanced guide at some point with more nuanced and more ideal/min-maxed setups, but like I said in this video, I am by no means a Mythic level raider, and I'm bound to make mistakes! Affliction is pretty great for Single Target scenarios, as well as council type fights; due to this, you'll always see it hold value in most raid fights and in dungeons. With that being said though, you'll always have a class that's better in some way. For instance, Affliction is the weakest of the three Warlock specs in AoE capabilities, but generally the strongest or second strongest in ST. With that being said though, I'd encourage you to play whichever you find fun -- I personally play every spec of Warlock, but Affliction has been what I've been focusing on lately!

Absolutely -- your stat priority will 100% change based on what you're currently at, and there are for sure a ton of things that I didn't cover in this video. I'm working on putting together a more in depth video that'll cover more intricate facets of the class sometime next week, which will hopefully cover some more important key factors to improving!

It's fun, but the DPS style is different than either Demonology or Destruction. Both Demo and Destro have a "Builder, Spender" playstyle in the form of Shadowbolt > HoG, and Incinerate > Chaos Bolt, but Affliction doesn't have a spell that directly gives them soulshards. Due to this, Affliction is more about maintenance and keeping their DoT's ticking and then using their spenders or saving shards for a burst window (like when CD's are about to be up).

Vile Taint was actually something I experimented with on stream, and it was pretty lackluster. You'll get more damage out of Sow The Seeds, and it'll be more consistent damage than Vile Taint as STS doesn't have a cooldown.

There are people who are far better at math than I am who've found it to be just as lack luster; it really just comes down to uptime, for the most part. While the damage might seem good, in higher keys, the CD of VT becomes more of a bottleneck than you might anticipate in lower keys.

You can check Icy-veins here: www.icy-veins.com/wow/affliction-warlock-pve-dps-spec-builds-talents -- They're a relatively reputable source, and they mention that it's numerically inferior in situations that either StS or Singularity will excel in. There's also this content creator who discusses the difference between the two, as either build can be viable depending on what you're looking to do. ruclips.net/video/PK4Lf3Of_qU/видео.html It's also important to note that it heavily depends on which legendaries you're running -- I'm personally running the Corruption Legendary, so I'll get more throughput out of the StS talent as opposed to Vile Taint.

A lot of Warlock is admittedly just practice and playtime. Some things you'll pick up as you play, and other things won't really make sense until you start playing it a lot. I'd heavily suggest going to see the Basics Guide that I've set up on my channel to get a feel for some of the more generalized things you can do to increase your performance, as well as keeping an eye out for my Advanced Affliction guide that'll be coming out in a week or so.

For the boss abilities? Any general Boss Mods addon is going to do that, so either DBM or Bigwigs -- I use BigWigs exclusively, for both Dungeons and for Raids. If you're unsure of which one to use for yourself, DBM is pretty "In Your Face" about things, wherein BigWigs is mostly just some noise queues and text prompts.

It'll be relatively difficult to get outDPS'd as a Destro Lock in Cleave/AoE if you Cataclysm -> Havoc -> CB spam for the most part. This early into the expac, the hardest part about any spec of Warlock right now though is definitely going to be Haste accrual. Not having enough will make all three specs feel pretty trash to play, IMO. They'll still put out pretty good numbers, but the *feel* of the class won't be phenomenal like it is with more Haste.

I like Warlock in general, so it doesn't really matter which spec I play, I'm generally having fun in some form. In terms of Shadow Priest, while I do have a priest, I haven't dabbled too heavily in Shadow Priest. Some aspects of this guide would be appropriate for that class though, as the premise is the same: Keep your DoT's ticking/applied, and always be casting so as not to have too much "inactive time". As a caster, the more time you spend doing nothing, cancelling a cast, or casting the same spell that isn't filler is a waste of time.

You can attempt to copy/paste this string (if it fits) into your ElvUI by choosing "Profile" and then choosing the "Import" option. It *should* copy the profile I'm using for my Warlock to your ElvUI. Though, to clarify, some elements are WeakAuras and the Details! addon, so you may not have the exact look: I've been experimenting with that myself; as you gain more accuracy in SHD levels, it's probably worth it to drop the accuracy muzzle, however I often found myself having to engage at range when using the SMG, so I opted for something that'd allow me to hit my shots a tad more often.
