Scratchy take-offs and strange conditions at Cogden
Просмотров 2493 месяца назад
After a long wait for enough wind to launch at Cogden, I decided to give it a go. Staying up meant dragging my arse through the bushes, tucking in tight to the cliff. A little further on down the cliffs, there was convergence just offshore giving constant steady lift to 700ft. A strange day!
Bahamas Sharks

First time diving with free swimming sharks. At points there were four Caribbean reefs sharks circling our group of divers. They seemed to be intrigued by the Insta360 X3 camera (invisible dive case)
Cogden to Charmouth coastal run on a paraglider

A busy day at Cogden but good conditions for the coastal run to Charmouth and return. A bit of a sneaky bum scratch back up from low down on Golden Cap
Cats Back transition

What started as a comfortable crossing from the main Pandy Ridge over to the Cats Back ridge, turned into a squeaky bum moment when I hit 4.7m/s sink and required some 'proximity scratching' to get back to ridge height!
Paragliding Portland West; take off, approach and landing

A take off and couple of approaches to land land at Portland West paragliding site. Wind westerly about 17mph at take off.
Ringstead to Swanage

This is a much better stabilised version of a previous video! Jurassic Coast run from Ringstead to the lighthouse at Durlston Country Park near Swanage in fairly strong southerly conditions. Couldn't make it round the headland past Swanage to Ballard as the wind was not playing ball but an epic flight and first time past Kimmeridge Bay. Thanks to Sean for guiding me and the lovely Andrea for pi...
Coastal run from Eype to Charmouth

Forcast looked good so myself Phil and Tony decided on a jaunt to Eype. Some nice smooth flying in the morning including this run to Charmouth and back followed by some spicier conditions later allowing to full run down to Swyre and back
Paragliding Portland East

Late afternoon flying Portland East. Technical site, difficult to launch due to rotor and no bottom landing option. Didn't quite go to plan, should have paid more attention to relative groundspeed and not pushed on when I really should have turned back! Landed safely though, although more by luck than skill.
Dune Gooning (Paragliding) Hayle Towans

A quick edit from a recent session at one of my favourite coastal sites; Hayle Towans, Cornwall. Great fun playing in and around the dunes. Music: 'Everything is Wrong' by Moby
Ager Paragliding Sep 20

A flight from a fantastic week in Ager in Spain with Passion Paragliding. This was a small task in the Valley followed by a cross country flight to a lakeside cafe just to the north of the town of Tremp. Spicy conditions ( 6m/s, -5m/s) and a little too rock and roll at time but great fun and a 53km flight

Perfect paragliding day on the Hampshire/Dorset coast for the full coastal run between Milford on Sea and Mudeford, launching from Barton on Sea
Windy evening watching the sunset on the Little Cloud at Gwithian Towans

Taking the Little Cloud for a spin at the Towans while watching the sun setting over St Ives. Not a bad way to spend an evening.
A result i would say in the end Tim. My buttocks were clenched from the moment you mentioned you should have turned 20 seconds earlier. Thanks for sharing this. Glad you landed safely. (and nicely by the way).
Australian pilot .I intend to be in the South of England next August hoping to fly along the coast mainly. Who should I contact ? Also if local pilot willing to sho me the sites, or perhaps have any accommodation and I am willing to swap for accommodation in Melbourne.
Hi Chris, please feel free to contact me, I'm the secretary of the local paragliding club, I can post a general note on our club comms and introduce you to some pilots who live local to the coast and may be able to help with accom
Great thanks
Very nice edit dude! Need to get down the coast again :-)
Great video, Tim!! ❤
Too fast
Agree but it’s 1:30hr condensed to just over 6 mins, any slower and the video becomes too long. Just gives an idea of the run. The low scratch back up Golden Cap would be better at real speed
That’s how fast two liners are…..
Nicely done dude! A very enjoyable day.
A very nice flight😎
Nice to see from your point of view instead of my usual point of view watching you guys from the ground.
Some fantastic 360 footage there Tim. Whats your setup like the viewpoint is brilliant!
Hi Josh, it’s just an Insta360 one x on the invisible selfie stick. It’s wedged in the side of the pod an points slightly forward of the risers above my head. It’s connected to an external battery pack by a magnetic disconnect cable (bit like an apple magsafe connector)
Basically like this: just a different camera ruclips.net/video/0a_0t-0_G4I/видео.html
Nice video Tim. Horrible rotor on launch!
A great day and a pleasure flying with you 👌
Thanks for sharing that Tim. It is a very tricky place to fly.
