4:38 One of my favorite lines in the game. It represents the themes of the game so perfectly. Without love, the truth cannot be seen. Even though Kinzo is dead, none of the murders in the game really change whether he's alive or not. And while it may explain how Kinzo escaped his study in EP1, it could have been easily explained with the same logic as Battler's of EP5. So Kinzo being dead explains as much of the "mystery" as if he were dead. Therefore, no blue truth can "prove" that he is dead: it can only give an explanation for it without any conclusiveness. Even though the red truth has declared Kinzo dead, it's just a supernatural tool: it's not part of the tale, nor is it something the characters on the gameboard are privy to; it's not logic or reasoning, nor is it evidence being put together to solve the puzzle. It's more of a hint that Beatrice gave out, so it's just as good as if you read a spoiler. Therefore, no red truth can "prove" that he his dead: a conclusion to a mystery in a story can't be accepted by its readers without its proof. So the question is: what makes Kinzo dead? Why would you, without the red truth, believe that Kinzo is dead? Because "clearly" Natsuhi talking to Kinzo in EP1 was her trying to motivate herself? But what if Natsuhi is just crazy, or has schizophrenia? Or maybe it was unknown drug Purupurupikopuyo causing her to hallucinate things. Surely any of those explanations would explain it, right? I mean, it's not even part of the murders, so why would it matter what the explanation is, or how out there your reasoning for it is? There's only one reason why Kinzo must, not could but _must,_ be dead, and it's why Battler's golden truth is so beautiful.

Speaking of the Knox Commandments, there is a moment during Episode 2 when Beato actually references this point of contention: Beatrice: "Indeed. No secret passages exists unknown to you all. Was it Knox, or was it Van Dine? It seems that in mystery novels, there must never be hidden passages, no matter what. I also follow that etiquette." So I think the argument for why the red is saying none instead of no more than one is most likely due to the argument Beato makes about secret passages being unknown information that can't be revealed by a detective's actions. Essentially, the way to the gold room is argued as not being a hidden passage because solving the epitaph, an action possible for every character including the detective seems to naturally leads you to find the passageway.

Dlanor ending her sentences in capitals is supposed to represent her being both robotic and how she ends her sentences with "desu" (and other such sentence ending words).

I love how much of a rapid assault Dlanor and her group is, to the point where even their character profile pages are insanely long and filled with so much detail so you really feel overwhelmed.

Phoenix Wright is actually named different in Japan (they're both a play on being "right", though), so it can't be a reference to that. The reference is that the real name of S.S. Van Dine (his author pseudonym) is Willard Huntington Wright.

I highly recommend taking a good look at Discode lyrics, they have strong hints about the heart of Umineko mysteries.

Discode is such a good song with such sad lyrics, and oh boy the ending of EP4 is so fascinating! If you take some time to consolidate your theories after all of this red (once you finish the ????), thatll be helpful to you I think

Small Bombs (TM) is the best theory in the game. I love how Battler goes on to say that "small bombs" are just an _example_ of "Trap X", but then he continues the argument with the assumption that the trap was indeed small bombs anyways. I spent 10+ minutes thinking up a theory for this murder when I was reading this, and then, after I came up with a solid one, I click next and see this amazing theory, lol.

Fun fact: many people theorized that Kinzo was already dead by the end of EP3, either prior to or because of the Red Web (as I did). So, in response to that, Ryukishi07 added this plot thread into EP4, when he had no intention to do so prior. That's why the theory isn't focused on for most the Episode (only being brought up, then mentioned only one more time when "Kinzo" appeared, and then finally here). In other words, this first phase of this boss fight is really a reward from R07 to fans for figuring this out. .....And now it's time for the real fight.
