We think that because of her age, the pregnancy took a lot out of her, and she just couldn't recover.

24-ish when she passed? That means she was 23-ish when she was pregnant and giving birth? I'm so glad she was in your care and being properly fed during that pregnancy.
Take comfort that this beautiful girl didn't face a slaughter truck, and now you have a baby to remind you of the love you two shared before Esme's passing. She was loved, and so many animals never have that experience in life, so find peace in knowing that she didn't suffer in the end. Blessings to you for your efforts. Enjoy Jasper.

Why are you dumping the burrs on or next to the horse's hay?
Don't worry, I had piled the burs off to the side where Lady couldn't reach them. Not near her hay. If I accidentally dropped one near her hay, I quickly moved it. I also did it outside of the horse pasture so the horses have no chance of ingesting them. 💛💛💛
It is cracking me up listening to her chew hay with the sound sped up. 😂
