Montana is unique with its youth "season". I take a buddy on his last year to enjoy this season and the ducks didn't disappoint.

Jig Fishing for Giant Kokanee
Просмотров 300Месяц назад
Well the cat is out of the bag for Holter Lake. We grow big Kokanee here. Where they came from no one is 100% sure but they are here for now at least. Best guess is these are stocked fish the have been washed over the dam above this lake where they have been stocked the previous years. Thankfully, even though there's a big influx of people, these fish are meant to be caught and harvested as thi...
Is Jigging Finesse or its own Category?

Todd and I talk jigging as we fish some shoreline. Sometimes when the fish aren't bitting hard you have time to think. And that can be dangerous.

Todd and I head North to a large body of water known for its Walleye quality. Fort Peck may have more diversity, but Tiber is easily one of the most slept on lakes on the Highline. You don't want to miss this opportunity to see how we approached this lake to help you catch more fish. Full Disclosure: We caught more fish on day 2 so if you want to skip ahead to that, start at 22:48 on the timeline.

Montana River Fishing in February!?!?!?!
Lost complete interest when life scope was brought out to be used.
Those are some big fish
Hillbilly jim likes his walleye
Hahaha thankfully he’s good at catching them too
Bro, that body of water holds some serious perch in it!!
Yes it does! If we get some good ice this year, perch fishing is going to be crazy this winter.
@@RebelAgainsttheIndoors yeah man. Good ice and stable weather instead of hot and cold cycles like last year.
Wow nice catch sir
Big ol' fatty carp, good catch! Always remember, "a bad day fishing is still a good day out"! Threw a line in the water today after work for 45min and the only thing a got was my line wet. Totally worth it.
Great catch man I wish we had walleye here in Florida
Thanks! Ironically I wish we had the bass you have in Florida 😂
This song is carcinogenic
😂 I certainly won’t disagree with you but I didn’t like anything else I was finding either 🤷♂️
Known in Chester as the dead sea.
Yeah… I can kinda see where that comes from haha if it’s any consolation, Helena’s Dead Sea is Canyon Ferry. At least the fish in Tiber have some forage. More than just perch and each other at least.
nice
I enjoyed it!
Below radar, thats treetop flyer

Lake Tahoe, we saw it to 🎉💪🏻👍
Very nice 👌 ❤
Congrats!
Thank you!
Cool😮
Beautiful day!
What about baitcasting loading heavy on one side?
Yeah that’s a tough one. Admittedly not as familiar but generally when I see uneven line it was from the initial spooling of the line. I haven’t seen or heard of a way specifically to tune a spool as you would on a spinning setup. About the only way to kinda do it is with your tuning knob but that’s more for your baits of course. I can tell you though, I see this a lot on trolling setups. Especially if you have a rod that is designated to a side. The line favors the side with more tension. So if you’re constantly reeling in baits-or hopefully fish-from the same side you’ll see it favor that side of the spool sooner or later. If it helps, when I fill a bait casting reel, I make sure the knot is in the middle initially, then as I fill, using the machine, my tension is from my hand holding the spool of line not right in front of the spool. While filling I make sure that the line is being feed straight towards the pawl/line guide. If the line favors one side for some reason as I fill then I push or pull to the opposite side to keep it level. Generally if it is favoring the one side it’s simple cause the hand I’m guiding the line with isn’t keeping the line center to the reel. Sorry if this wasn’t quite the help you were looking for but that’s all I got for ya. Maybe try a restring and these tips maybe and see if that helps at all.
Ahhhhhhhhh my ears the wind noise!
You’re just jealous you weren’t in the boat haha
@@RebelAgainsttheIndoors yeah...🥺
You lost your lucky expensive lure....damn it!!
Great video! Thanks for posting!
Frigg does not cover it FUCK!!
Good Stuff keep up the good content
Thank you!!
Good job
Bart recommended this to us. Jonathan this is really helpful, thank you so much!!
Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad this helped and I hope you catch the big ones you’re after! Seems like it’s been a great season this year.
We got fish with weights! Clearly packed its stomach full then weighed
Have you considered a pre-spawn, egg filled, female?
He got weight in him!!
Nah pre-spawn. Full of eggs (and no not egg weights 😂)
Biggest finger steak I've ever seen. 😮 I've caught plenty, but nothing that big. 😭
We are on the upswing this year (23/24) season for the jumbos where I’m at. I think it’s on year 6/7 of the cycle. So just about to go dead again for a bit before the next cycle grows up
What did u catch it one
Clam tungsten caviar I think it was. And I size down a good bit to a 14 hook. They come bigger but that’s been my best size.
That’s perch is massive
Gulp minnows 😂
More like Berkley packaging 😛😂 but yeah… I try to not use them for this reason but it’s hard to deny when they work, they work well. So needless to say I keep a few on hand.
This year has definitely been great up there.
It was a really good year for sure! Of the 5 years I’ve done it now this has been the best year so far.
Beautiful fish!
Never knew this! Big thanks
They called shims and they are for further down behind the nut to stop wobble when worn . The ones your describing have a smaller ( ID) hole . Also there’s a difference from manual front drag and a spool that push button release
Thanks dude
Very nice. Ty
Thank you
Cool to see Bart in action! Worked at Capital for years but never got to fish with Bart. This was a real treat to watch
Honestly this is the first time to be with him fishing haha but you can tell he’s a master of his craft! Glad you liked the video!
@@RebelAgainsttheIndoors The guy barely skipped a beat when he would hook a fish during his explorations. Great to see
Looks like one HELL of a day! Great Work and Great Video!
Thank you! It was a good time for sure! Was rained out Tuesday afternoon but gave me time to catch up on editing
Nice
I hate this type of fishing
What's wrong with it? 🤣🤣
HOOK AND LINE ALL THE TIME.. NICE work on the research R&D IS KEY TO THE NEXT LEEP IN FISH,,,, Keeping practices.. And UP KEEPING OF THE STOCKS.. KEEP FISHING HOOK AND LINE FOR LIFE..
Looked like a dam nice day.
Thank you for these videos
Thank you for the support! I apologize for not responding to your previous comment. I’ve been looking into it and unfortunately I’m not sure why the walleye video wouldn’t download. Best I can tell I did have one copyright notification and maybe that affected things.
I am usually able to download your episodes but this one won’t let me
Looks like a blast!
Can i help you your RUclips channel optimization
The trick is pinch the barbs
Yeah for sure, you’re right. When I fly fish and am not as serious about landing the fish I certainly do. Or when water is quite a bit warmer and it’s more critical to alleviate stress. But when I’m fishing an area with a variety of species and in cold water, I tend to leave them up. Starting about now the walleye start showing up and with the size potential that can be caught, I definitely want a barb for those. So unfortunately it kinda causes a catch 22 situation.
If you're fishing for sport (ego fun) and not for survival, just stay home and stop harassing the fish. You just haven't seen the light yet.@@RebelAgainsttheIndoors
If you are just fishing for sport (ego) then just stay home. You're harassing a living being for fun.@@RebelAgainsttheIndoors
@@dan-h2gif you’re worried about harassing a “living being”, stay out of the woods and off the river and never touch a rod or set a hook period…. Obviously we have a difference of opinion and I can appreciate that. But I can tell you, anecdotally speaking, that I’ve foul hooked just as many fish with a barbless where they couldn’t be released. Sure I may have to generally handle them less with a barbless. Emphasis on generally. But as far as I’m concerned, with these conditions considered and the overall size of fish being caught, when I release those fish I can say with 99% certainty that they continue to live healthy lives. Thanks for the comment.
