Taking Down A Christmas Village 2023 - Lionel Trains - Dept.56

A time lapse video of the taking down of our Christmas Village in January of 2023. Leaving it up permanently would defeat the purpose of keeping it special for Christmas. If it was up all the time it would become ordinary and that is not my desire. Putting it up and taking it down are all part of Christmas for me. That is why it gets taken down every year. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy th...

This is a Timelapse Video of the creation of my Christmas display.
How long before christmas do you start your build?? Do you do this every christmas? How long have you been collecting? Many questions coz im in awe
Swissland I LOVE IT!
My dear friend, I’m a bit early this year but I’ve come back to see the holiday magic you create each year. You make the Holidays more special. I don’t know how you do it but it’s absolutely amazing!
Nice work! Love it great work
WOW!!! That is fantastic.
Goodness, what a gorgeous layout! I hope one day I will have the space to set something like this up.
Hi, very pretty. Where do you buy your trains?
Amazing Village
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Such a labor of love beautiful
The only question I have is can we expect another village and video this year? Please?
@@mrknoch Absolutely there will be a video this year. Thanks for watching.
@@davehohman2323 All right! Thanks!
I can only imagine the amount of time, money and effort that goes into that layout. I have a small 6x6 under my tree and it takes weeks also.
You should tell us the total number of Dept 56 buildings that are in the display.
I don’t remember exactly how many building are in the display. It is between 225-235. Thanks for watching.
Can we just appreciate the effort that was put into it?
What scale is this in?
@@grguy793 O gauge. Thanks for watching.
You should install several cameras around the whole city to get different perspectives and then automatically switch from one angle to the next. Then stream it for us LIVE! :D
5 minutes into the video and you’re the best dad ever 🫡🎄
Loving the holidays now
This is amazing and it’s so beautiful! ❤✝️🎄🏠⛪️🚃
The only problem with Lionel Trains is they ran at one speed and do not have a controller. They need to modify their design and include a transformer for different speeds and stop and start.
Herculean effort with stupendous results !! A wonderful final result that surpasses all !!
🎄🎅🏼🎄 looks amazing 🎄🎅🏼🎄
WoW Great video! Are the turnouts on the reverse loops automatically controlled or does the passage through them by the train switch the route?
When the train hits the switch it cause the switch to change so the train doesn't derail. Thanks for watching and enjoying the video
Beautiful. I get frustrated just doing a circular track
Love the trains. So many. I'd be happy just to keep one big oval running. The village is awesome. Next time if there is slow down your train when featuring your Go Pro camera. That way we can appreciate even more. That's a life time collection.
What did you use to build the raised sections?
1x6 for framing. 1/2 inch plywood for base.
Very impressive!
i really loved the train rides . Thank you Dave for fulfilling my childhood dream . its Truly a MASTERPIECE!! thanks for you dedication and hard work . Hope to see this again in 2024 .again Thank you .
Phenomenal! 👏
Fantastic! 😃
Train is going too fast to see whats there. More focus on individual buildings/
I'm not much into trains but this setup is awesome, job well done
This is so cool! I hope it wasn’t ruined in Hurricane Ian. I have a dear friend who lives on Sanibel Island & her home was destroyed.☹️
Fortunately it is not in Sanibel. It is at our home near St. Louis.
Dave, thank you so much for sharing this. My efforts pale by comparison, a mere 60 some D56 Xmas in the City buildings with S gauge trains. My interest is in how you put your layout together. What are you using for snow? I’ve been using large sheets of 1/8” felt, but the wires for the lights to the buildings are a bear and I’ve been trying to figure out an easier way to deal with the wires. That’s why I’m curious about the many small pieces of ‘snow’ you use.
I use 100% cotton batting w/out glazing. Stay away from polyester I don’t like the look. I used to use a product called Mountain Mist but they changed the formula a few years ago and i don’t like it as much luckily I bought a bunch before they changed it. It tears easily and lays flat. Go to a fabric store like Joann’s and check out what they have. I use fake snow flakes that you can find at a place like michael’s to give the snow some dimension and texture. Thanks for watching.
That’s a sea lion but still so cute <33
Well done! Loved watching.
Just beautiful. My hat is off to your amount of patience and your artistic ability.
Wow so awesome man congrats and thank you it was a jot to watch
Thank you for sharing your passion with us! It was simply a labor of love.
Truely a MASTERPIECE!! U R really lucky to be able to bend and get back up so much hahaha Those days are over for me. Keep up the outstanding work and thanks for a wonderful, entertaining video.
I've got a question for you what happens when you have a crash or something happens underneath all the tunnels what an unbelievable display of craftsmanship of a model train Builder you guys are amazing I had to send you another comment totally totally amazing that had to be crafted out on the computer first that is totally beautiful wow
Thanks for watching. If you are careful while constructing derailing is rare but it does happen. Most of the time I can get to it. If not that line just gets shut down until I take the display comes down. People come over and see it and don’t even notice that one doesn’t run. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Totally totally amazing wow thank you for sharing that
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow....just WOW!
One day I will have this in my basement
I would never disassemble this, it would stay up year round 😂
Leaving it up permanently would defeat the purpose of keeping it special for Christmas. If it was up all the time it would become ordinary and that is not my desire. Putting it up and taking it down are all part of Christmas for me. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Awesome work. I always loved just standing and staring at these kind of displays of any shop that would put them up. Going to have to find my old sets and get them running again!
fuck federick and oshe but halak pretty good, too many color on youer wall tho picl one
Неймовірно!😍😍😍 Скільки ж це роботи!🙈 Крім такої кропіткої роботи це ще треба було познаходити та все купити) Браво!
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
