He left some lines out. For example, "The dogs were fed and the stars o'er head were dancing heel and toe. " (missing after he establishes that very night (Christmas night). Still he did a great job.
I love this! Great video and dramatic recitation.
Good, good stuff . . . Loved Robert Service. Had both a remarkable life as well as a very remarkable marriage - look up the story. Hollywood missed the mark in never exploiting the man . . .
Gotta love this !
Share with your friend's too... my boo.❤
My absolute favorite poem by Robert Service. I hope you've enjoyed it as I have for many years, with a few hundred renditions.❤🎉🎉🎉😅
Thank you so much oh my God! You sound exactly like the voice I heard in my head when I was 9 years old. I memorized this poem and spoke it as some kind of competition when I was very young I don't remember the competition but I remember every word of the poem and I heard it in THAT voice. I spoke it as well as I could as if I was an old man. It was probably super cute cuz I was only like 9 years old.
The bestvi have ever heard thanks a million times over my dad is dead 20 years now and i still hear him tell the tale of the creamati9n of sam mcgee in the 1920 s dad said to graduate 8th grade you had to recite a robert service peom
Fantastic work.
wow! he has such an expressive face, and a perfect voice for this poem. well done!
I was introduced to the poems and srories of Robert Service 53 tears ago by Larry Beck, the "Bard of Alaska" at the Expo Center in Fairbanks. Larry performed live on stage during the summer. He was absolutely incredible. When he did "The Shooting of Dam McGrew" the lights in the theater acctually went out and two shots (blanks) rang out and made everyone jump. This rendition and presentation by Hal Jeayes is absolutely wonderful. Well done and BRAVO! BRAVO!
Love this mans telling of this poem.
Fantastic performance of this classic poem, thanks!
Beautifully acted
Wow!! What a reading! Fabulous!!
Absolutely amazing!!! Best rendition I’ve ever seen of this poem.
Amazing rendition. Love it. Has this gentleman done more poetry?
One of my uncles could recite this poem by heart, no matter how drunk he was😄
Well done, It was told so well I almost felt like I was there. Got up after listening to this and threw another log on the fire.
Awesome
Feels like my grandpa telling me a bed time story.
My dad LOVED Robert Service! I remember him reading this to us kids.
I love how he brings the heart of the Yukon right into your chest.
I had to memorize this when I was 16.
This is the best reading of this poem I've ever seen! Liked and subbed. I agree with Sam, I also want to be cremated when it's my time.
the part where Sam's pal lit the boiler fire and stoked the fire with the coal that he'd found before he fed the flames with Sam was perhaps the best bit of the tale
I love his work have everything ! TY Jennie
A promise made is a dealt unpaid! 🦉
My dad being a great fan of the poems of Robert Service as I am, would have throughly enjoyed this rendition of the Cremation of Sam McGee, I could feel the cold as he spoke. A great performance by Hal Jeayes
Elementary librarian here. I read this (I almost have it memorized!) every Christmas to the older kids, as my grandpa did for me. Thank you for the inspiration ❤ Merry Christmas!
Great job!!
I LOVED THIS! LOVED IT!
Excellent
Wonderfully felt and dictated ... thank you :-)
why does this absolutely mog every other version out there
at the end the biggest chill went down my spine.
Chilling!
Oft thought this and other tales of the north inspired the Dead's "Dyer Wolf" Wonderful dramatic reading.

Back 2 years later to revisit this fabulous film/recitation. I must know - who IS this man? Is he still with us? How did you find this ? 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💜
It's my father and he's sadly no longer with us.
Wonderful
My uncle used to recite this on ski lifts to strangers
Definitely the best version! Great job! I’m hoping to recite this during a reading next month, so I’m listening to various narrators, or storytellers. I’m a woman, but I’ve always loved this poem and memorized it as a teen. It’s been a long time… I don’t remember all but I don’t think it’s about memorization necessarily, but I’m definitely practicing!
I'm sitting up here with my loved one near after camp for two weeks or three. With a load of firewood which I watched and stood while drying by fires weak. And the blaze alight and the look of fright on my wife's face seems like glee. It's our last night here and the looks were clear, it's time for a funeral pyre.
I tell this story to my scouts well done
Wonderful , one of my dad's favourites , never heard him recite it from start to finish though. Here on his 27th anniversary ❤
My daughter requested this, and the Shooting of Dan Mcgrew
Excellent.
So extremely well done. Bravo!
