Where do I download that super cool app

using my steam controller to type this ...been using one for about almost 7 years now and love it

It's my favourite controller but it does have a learning curve to it. I got mine because I got RSI/carpel that flares up from time to time so I cant play kbm games for longer than 30mins to an hour and the steam controller allows me to play those games still. I try and take good care of mine because im not sure what I would do if mine dies, and im not sure the steam controller 2 would be as good for my needs. I exclusively use the trackpads and gyro for a lot of video games and im not sure how comfortable smaller trackpads would be like on the steam deck (I dont have it so I cant compare) My only issue is the newer UI for steam input removing a lot of the visuals from adjusting your controls. For example when changing functionality of the track pads it would have a graphic of the touch pad so you knew where the inner part is and where the outer bind is now you have to do a lot more smaller adjustments to get it right. Besides that the controller is still amazing.

Im using it all the time, thanks to the trackad functions i can play X4 foundations in RTS mode which would be unplayable on thumbsticks. Its a shame w the players did not understod this concept back in the day. Im a PC player, i have a gaming PC down stairs that I CANT use due to children / family so i got a steam link device and im playing remotely via Wi fi (it pulls stable 1080p@60fps no issues - just a good router on 5ghz network) Now with steam controler i can finally play fps games - not on the mous keyboard level but enough to have FUN which was not possible for me on normal thumb sticks. And that touchpad functionality...its god send for pc games.

At least you don't look that out of shape, unlike me, because I haven't played Mario Kart for months, I'm playing other racing games similar to Mario Kart, but that's about it

you've forgot gyro which is the real game changer, it turns your "weird" into "unique" and into my "unreplaceble".

*Great idea, bad execution!* The TouchPad click is hard to click and hollow sounding, the back buttons feel mushy, the face buttons are way too small_and also mushy,_ and last but not least, no real D-pad. That being said, I love the trackpad for mouse movement, especially pair with great gyro, I love the insane customization with steam input, and can't forget those GameCube style two stage triggers!

On Yoshi's Island, if you hit the cloud with the ?, a bridge will open up. I don't know if it's faster, but it could be useful for something

Have this and it is the amazing thing, the amount of customization of this device is nothing short of genius. The trackpad vibration when you are using, the gyrofunction. I used to drive with gyro in gta v with this controller, there was also a hotkey to turn on and off the gyro function. This was waaaaaaay ahead of it time but people weren’t just ready for it

I was able to find a seller in my country and we made a deal for only 30,- EUR incl. shipping. Gotta say, I felt pretty lucky.

I love this controller - I would jump at an updated version: made sturdier, with usb-c, rechargeable, and maybe two more back buttons

I played this game for the first time last year. I kept an open mind, knowing it wouldn't be like Star Fox 64, and knew it was a Zelda-like game. But even still, it exceeded my expectations for disappointment. I replayed Ocarina of Time shortly after just to be sure it wasn't my nostalgia, but no. Somehow even really minor things like climbing ladders is WAY better in Ocarina of Time.

I had bought this as 2nd hand few yrs ago, I must say the quality and the idea behind is good, but it gets hold back because it chose a different path just like what nokia did, but even then they could have just make an xinput one and actual bluetooth model, I updated the BLE thing and its absolute dogshit, if only this was xinput with a 3 different mode connector this would have been the best controller, also fak steam layout and whatever the heck did they do with it, I tried setting it up 3x and I keep forgetting what to do, go get your self a rewasd.

You know, with how I've started using Steam as my now main gaming platform since last year, I'm kinda glad I bought one on a whim at my local GAME (UK retailer) all those years ago. Now here I am, going to purchase a Steam Deck real soon which feels like what Valve was attempting in the first place, touchpads and all.

I bought the controller and Link shortly after launch. Sold them, but reacquired them recently. So happy I have a bit of this gaming history. I never managed to get used to the controller, though. I guess I have to keep at it.

I actually own 2 steam controllers since before the steam deck I had a steam link that I would use to play on the tv...the steam controller is an amazing controller and it probably would have done muich better in the market if it came with just one more thumbstick in addition to the trackpads. much like how the modern deck has...i do hope they make a second steam controller because that was the only flaw to the OG steam controller, just adding a second thumbstick
