The meaning of the song, from what I can see, is: Court is in session is the judgment before God. He's guilty before God and that is why his sin is on the "docket", as God is the judge. The song then talks about him being in a prison. This is an illustration of hell. He is surrounded by demons, and he hears screams. He looks up and sees a vision of the Cross and what Jesus did for us, but it is too late for him as he is already in hell.

According to interviews and biographical material available online, Scott Stapp suffered greatly at the hands of his so-called "Christian" abusive stepfather. I see his music as an avenue to process the deep traumas he faced, which I'm guessing were intermingled with heaps of hellfire and brimstone guilt, as happened for so many of us who grew up in Protestant evangelical churches. His experience--including the very unfortunate and destructive addictions, and his very public and tragic psychotic breakdown--is a testament to the worst of what misguided Christian dogma can do to a person, oppressing one's individuality and agency under a veneer of self-righteousness "holy" mandates, where obsession with rules and "rightness" override one's humanity and inadvertently (or perhaps overtly, depending on how misguided the church leaders are) destroy the natural sense of self. My heart goes out to Stapp as this too was my experience growing up a devout Baptist, and it's why I no longer am part of that community. "True Christianity does not do that," defenders will say. OK. Agreed. But this doesn't solve the epidemic of un-Biblical behavior that has seized churches and their members, who by all appearances are just good upstanding, God-fearing, Christians, all the while causing harm and destruction to those around them.

I don't mean any disrespect but I have to disagree with the picture your painting of God. If we pay close attention to Jesus in the Bible he was not running around with saints. He was running around with the worst of the worst. He stayed around those kinds of people. He knew that those people needed God more than anyone. He never turned his back on them. Many of them spoke to God face to face and still messed up. That is the problem I have with the church. They are so quick to judge people. God forgives and God gave us free will and he knew that free will would cause some people to take hard roads. But he also knew that some people had to go on these hard roads to prepare them for their journey in life. He wasn't passing out slips to hell the whole time like the church loves to do.

Those are longest pauses for a song I've ever witnessed. This is definitely not a reaction because I forgot what I was even listening to

This song is about Scott being in he'll and he's not able to repent anymore because he rejected Jesus while here on earth and he's suffering from his own prison that he created, his skin starts to burn demons hovering around and Gabriel stands and confirms, hiding hate that burns inside wich only fuels (the demons) selfish pride, then he speaks about him and the others in hell are " all held captive out from the son (jesus) a sun that shines on only sum we the meek are all in one" in he'll he sees the crucifixion and the suffering of Jesus and what he suffered on a sad day of loss, and the song ends without him ever getting out. Somehow this man has an idea of he'll and judgment and so far that I've seen there's been no evidence that he's born again, if you follow his history, after this song came out he gets involved with drugs ect and has many problems now last I saw he's doing good but he still doesn't mention the name of Jesus or give him any credit that I've seen.

Scott Stapp is a remarkable singer. I have seen Creed live and he sounds exactly like the studio. I was raised in Church and was convinced I was called to pastor. But God showed me the truth. Please do more Creed, one of my favs!

Nathan means God's gift. Feuerstein means fire stone. What is the fire of the Lord? There is what the Bible calls, the “FIRE OF THE LORD.” This fire of the LORD is a uniquely Divine Fire that is not found anywhere else. It is a Holy Pure Fire from the LORD. This fire of the LORD cannot be extinguished by water. It is not a natural fire that can be extinguished by natural extinguishers. The words rock and stone, referring to the prime elements in ancient foundations, are used in the scriptures as metaphors signifying strength, steadiness, and durability. Looking at verses 4 & 5, we see Jesus referred to as the Living Stone who was rejected by men, but chosen and precious by God. The stone has this idea of God's rule and reign. As the Living stone, it's important to note that he's alive. What is fire according to the Bible? When God answers by fire, there is rapid response, speed, and quick intervention and positive consequences and results. There is what the Bible calls, the “FIRE OF THE LORD.” This fire of the LORD is a uniquely Divine Fire that is not found anywhere else. It is a Holy Pure Fire from the LORD.

Another thing Creed as a band that got a lot of crap from other bands because they were too much Jesus and yes Jesus bless them with a magnificent career but in the end Scott lost the battle because of alcohol

I think you missed the very beginning of the song where his sin is pride. My recommendation is the next time you listen to a rock band that believes in Jesus you should listen to the video with the words

And a small attachment to that great definition of why we build our prison, is also because we build ours out of false comforts and that the skin deep "joys" are technically traps of our own design until we become lost. All saving begins with wanting to save yourself. If you just say it but do nothing, that's as bad as another drug or earthly "fix". Weird that I see this as him sharing how he envisions judgement day? Only one can set up free and he has the recollection of the opportunities he had in order to be free and yet, he created his own prison and now suffers not only judgement but the mental torment of know those opportunities and how he rejected it.

"I've created my own prison" I take it as we made our own decisions, nobody forced us to make the decisions we did. We did it all on our own, therefore we created our own prison. Nobody else made that but us.

Not gonna lie, I wish that they react to more NF songs because he does bring up parts of the Bible into his songs and I feel that it would be interesting for them to catch those moments and explain them. And since NF is also a Christian, he should be safe for them to watch since NF doesn't cuss.
