So the person or object has to be almost not moving? That video you did was pretty much a picture..nothing really moved! If you have video that has people actually moving around don't see how that will work
I do now video from drone over one building but this video I put in reverse so I try to delete two people walking near that building and its not to bad. I do keyframes on mask path and this is work almost great. If there was meadow or big empty space this will do job, but to me I got some blurry wall in video, But I will try to edit this on some other way...

This is a very great added feature to FCPX. A direct feature competing to after effects the way I see it. I’m a FCPX user but had to use AE for tracking so it’s great this is now implemented into one software
Da Vinci resolve is much better at doing these kind of things.the major update to FCPX after several years is mediocre.

Can you use object tracking in 360 video to keep the subject in the middle regardless of action (as the insta 360 software does)?
To my knowledge Justin, no. The 360 stabilizer effect in FCP is meant to just smooth out the movement. Beyond insta 360, you could check out Mocha Pro which has equirectangular support however it works on the Adobe side of things.

I don't know why but final cut isn't updating for me. I tried to go to the app store to do it but it said I was up to date. I am stuck at 10.5.4 Any suggestions/tips?
You may need to upgrade the OS to see the update.

@@Daddleo Thanks. In FCP, I don't believe so, however you can easily do this in Apple Motion using the Stabilization Behavior under Motion Tracking and setting it to track the region you wish to stabilize (ie: a person dancing). The analyze features are very similar to the Object tracker. I'm actually thinking of doing a video on this so stay tuned....

it works on my 2017 15 inch -- but you need to be on Big Sur, the update doesn't show up in Catalina.
