I paid my social security tax and then retired and got penalized by social security administration because I also have a pension from two jobs and my social security taxes were paid in full so I along with many others have been stolen from by the current social security systems unfair rules.

YES, they forget that 40 years of this unfairness put maybe $800 billion into the SS Trust fund. When would the trust fund become insolvent without this huge robbery from low to middle income workers rather than remove the FICA CAP and let the high wage earners pay MORE to extend the life of the trust fund??? LOL

Giving across the board 24% COLAs moved up the time line far more than the $19.6 billion/yr moved it up. Where did the funding come from for those 24% COLAs for everybody?

What impact will giving the 97% a 24% COLA increase across the board since 2022 have on the sustainability of the Social Security Trust Fund? You're making a big deal about the impact $19.6 billion/yr will have. That number pales in comparison to the $250+ billion/yr the 24% COLAs will cost the Social Security Trust Fund.

Scott: Why would you say the trust fund is broke today? There is over $2.6 trillion in the fund. you saw there isn't much cash in it and it is mostly IOUs. In reality it is all IOUs (treasury securities) and always has been. You clearly don't understand how SS works.

A big thank you goes out to all the retirees that lost much of their S/S since 1983.This has helped for S/S to survive ....So now they will get what they have paid into...It is about time!

Imagine what that balance would have been without the 40 years of contributions that some of us were legally required to make and yet unable by that same governing force to be able to draw from it! This fund drew interest on our money for in some cases over 40 years and yet all we hear is how we are shorting the system! What about all these immigrants that didn’t contribute to this fund and have been able to draw from them? They have been crying this fund was going broke for years and yet there have been zero changes! I say it’s the fault of the administration and governing forces!

Congress has plenty of options to make social security solvent.

US is getting like East Germany. I can see local municipalities in blue states imposing a deposit style fee of a considerable amount for businesses wanting to open in cities in these blue states. A deposit amount to open the business and only getting the deposit back if you remain in the city for a minimum amount of 20 years or so.
