I hope you get to come too! It will be in October, which I know is tricky with election season, but I'm going to try to do it early October so it's not in the way of the hustle and bustle of election day and holidays and end of the year. And then another one in January again, since people REALLY like to get rid of stuff then!

What an upbringing! Thank you for sharing. And this just goes to show that we are who we are...no one is "turned" gay or trans by a story. Some realize they are when they see a character like them in a story and realize that it is possible for them to be their true self.

Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and share your thoughts. It's important to have open discussions on topics like these.You can disagree with what I say; I can't make anyone read any of these books. I'm simply trying to correct harmful misinformation. Body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria are real and affect people. Stating that is not glamorizing it. Would you say a book with a cis kid is glamorizing being cis? Nope, it's just a cis character. If you don't want your kid to know that trans people exist, that's your choice. But they do exist and it's not harmful for them to know that. No one is "turned" trans by reading a book because you can't be "turned" trans. There are many picture books that deal with social and emotional things that kids go through. These things being in books does not glamorize them. It simply states that they happen, and it helps kids get through those difficult emotions. Not a single book here encourages every kid who reads it to be trans. They simply have trans characters in them living their lives. I have read these books to my kids and if you met my kids and I didn't tell you that, you wouldn't see some scarred kids. You'd see fun, happy, kind, empathetic kids. Implying that kids need to be protected by books with trans characters makes it seem like trans people are dangerous, which is simply not true.

You're welcome and it makes me so happy that you found this. The mis and disinformation is extremely harmful and hurtful and I know tons of kids are growing up being taught to fear people that their parents fear just because they won't take the time to educate themselves. But I also know many people are making it a point to talk to their kids about these important topics and educate themselves if they need more info. I have friends and know kids who are trans and nonbinary, and I know all they want to do is live their best life, so anything I can do to help that from by book knowledge, I'm going to do.

Hi there. Thanks for watching. I don't agree with you, and that's okay. I believe kids should learn about everyone in the community, and if they can learn about cisgender people, they can learn about transgender people. Learning about people builds empathy, which we need more of. There's a lot of hatred in the world and specifically in policies in the US towards transgender people, and it's unacceptable.

You can think that all you want; and cisgender and nonbinary people exist in the world. It's not up to us to tell someone else who they are. Reading books about all kinds of people helps build empathy, which our world really needs. Check out Being You: A First Conversation About Gender. It's a kids book yes, and it does a great job talking about gender in an inclusive way.

Yes what is? If reading about transgender characters is grooming, then reading about cisgender characters is too and all books are grooming.

Hey good news, they didn't! I live in Loudoun County and don't like how every little thing that R's are upset with gets spun out of proportion, and I have a problem with misinformation. Some school board members were saying people couldn't be heard at public comment, and that's simply not true. I knew the info would be good to share, and I already had this series going so thought why not. It takes all kinds of content to connect with residents, and there are lots of ways to get involved in the community. You should find a way!

@@kathyellendavis I was very involved and learned my kids needed to be in private school. Lcps is a dumpster fire. Whenever people try to limit speech and expression it’s never a good thing. “Trust us we allow more debate than Fairfax “ isn’t a great argument in my book.

@@robertreinish3703I agree that limiting speech and expressing is never a good thing, and I'm glad LCPS is not doing that. They haven't had the camera on the speaker for public comment for a while now, and the public is still being heard. And there are additional ways to contact the school board; I'm glad they aren't limiting speech and expression. We have really liked our LCPS experience so far; sounds like you haven't, and I'm glad you were able to get your kids into a school that you feel better suits their needs. It is interesting comparing the different school districts and their policies, isn't it? I'm heartened that it seems like most if not all of the schools have ways to contact the school board members to express their opinions.

Hey Susie! You may have missed some nuance; I'm not hating on all men, and this book isn't either. It's holding men who have done horrible things to women accountable. And if we are going to get into it? No one would be here without someone birthing them. I hope that you encourage men to stop hating on women and you advocate are for equal rights. Enjoy the book!

I do hope you get to read it! And I agree, there's no need to be sexist to men. This book is filled with truly horrible things men have done to and said about women that have truly harmed them and held them back. Any human who does something like that should be held accountable, regardless of sex assigned at birth, which is something not everyone in this comment section agrees with strangely?

Hello! Didn't forget that the patriarchy exists and has for many many years! Not bitter; just want humans who are horrible to other humans to be held accountable for their actions. And for women to have rights and opportunities that men have enjoyed forever. Hope you get to read this. It is quite astounding how many women were and are able to accomplish so much despite some men trying to keep them down.

Oh and this IS a history book filled with great things women have done and horrible and harmful claims men have made about all women. You're going to really like it!
