Genius!
Brilliant!! Thank you for sharing❤❤
Go figure I just bought a box of pods online. Glad I saw this. Should it be covered as usual with the dome? Thank you so much. This is very helpful.
Hi. Yes I would still use the little domes to keep the humidity in for the germination. I started a set of heirloom tomato seeds a couple months ago and could not find the little domes. So I used small takeout sauce cups, but only covered half of them at first, and the covered ones did better!
Hey Gina, not sure if you're still active, but quick question. First, thanks for this! Brilliant idea, and I'm currently trying it. My question is this: the egg cartons seem to be growing mold in the space between the water level and the aerogarden cover. Have you experienced this? Is it a problem? If it is a problem, what should I do?
I got that too, but I think it is just some algae. You can see the green on the cardboard in my video. I did not worry about it. I think you can get the same thing in the soil, regardless of the Aerogarden.
@@whitberg7 thanks for the response! Actually, mine was white and fuzzy - definitely mold. But I found another video where the aero garden people say it's not only just fine, it's probably beneficial to the plant, but if it really bums you out, you can just scrape it off. So ... I'm leaving it :)
But what about all that algae on top ??
I did not worry about it. It is basically coming from the dirt, so I think it is not an issue. The plants I started this way all did fine when I put them outside in the garden.
Clever!
Thank you so much🤗
What a great idea! Thanks!
Wonderful idea!
Amazing!!! Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks! I'm trying to germinate some blackberry seeds that i saved from huge blackberries that i found on some random thornless canes- but i found out that they will take 7-8 months to germinate!!! And your help will allow my yardsale aerogarden to nurse them along in POTS that can be easily planted out! AND i already have the pots in my fridge- who knew! you did! Thanks so much! I gotta go scramble some eggs!🤗
This is amazing!!! Thank you ❣️

My first word was .... Brilliant! And now I see that so many have said the very same word. Thanks for sharing this - woo hoo!
This is exactly what I was looking for
This is the best hack ever. Thank you
Hi thanks for sharing after I put the seeds in the dirt do I have to cover it with those clear tops?
I would. It helps to keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate.
@@whitberg7 Thanks
Genius !!! Love it ! God Bless You !!
Great idea. Thanks for sharing. Would soil work or should I use any other medium to make sure it does not get the water dirty?
I use potting soil. The egg carton holds the dirt and the roots grow through it. There might be a difference in the quality of the egg carton that affects whether dirt gets through. Use one that feels stiffer.
Pure Genius! Thank you. Saved me lots of money! Thank you Gina.
Brilliant! Thank you!
Brilliant! Thank you!
