SIB Nose Wheels Head to Head - Moving a Honwave with bow wheels from Railblaza C-Tug and Compass 24
Просмотров 11 тыс.2 года назад
Do you need to move your SIB over long distances before launching? You've got transom wheels but is there even more help available to you? The answer is "Yes". Have a look at this video to see how I use nose or bow wheels from Compass 24 and C-Tug by Railblaza to move my Honwave T38 IE3, a Suzuki 20HP engine and all my gear over 1km to the slipway, without destroying my back :)

I have just uploaded an overview and review of our new Honwave T38 IE3 and Suzuki DF20A. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/nyHc0qCpZ5o/видео.html This Kayak was for sale but is now SOLD. I also own an Aqua Marian Steam 312 and a Kxone (Z-pro) Flash 100. They are not for sale, but if you would like me to shoot a similar video please leave a comment. I know how difficult it is to find this ...
I’ve just got the same boat and engine . How have you set your trim position ?
Hi. Good choice 😀. I’ve sold mine now, but I believe I set it to the middle position.
Killer video my brother 🫵🤘
it looks almost identical to the SeaEagle Razorlite but this has a nicer spray skirt and a second skeg.
michael keaton plays guitar? cool
😂
nice guitar mate! congrats
Great video Paul thank you
Are they any good for pull a boat down a sandy beach
Hello Paul Thank you for this video. I would still like to point out that you said a big mistake by specifying, concerning the water evacuation at the back of the seat , that we would sink if we left the 2 plugs open while sailing! Not at all ! On the contrary, they make it possible to evacuate immediately this water that would enter because of the waves, for example... It's a self-bailing kayak ! 😉
is this kayak still holding up after 3 years?
Does this boat fold in to a manageable pack when deflated?
It deflates and rolls into a cylinder about 1.5m long by 0.5m in diameter. This weighs roughly 45g. Whether it’s manageable depends on you. I can lift the weight, but the rolled dimensions do make it quite hard to get a secure grip. I use a sack truck to move it around the Garrage and to the car and then dead lift it into the boot. It’s much easier with two. Hope that helps.
2 yer start leaking air floor , nothing good , for fiching big minus
Could i use the trailblazar wheels at the back of the boat and trail it from the front instead of adding transom wheels?
Hi, I wouldn’t. The back of the boat will be the heaviest and the most expensive because of your engine. I would always go for proper transom wheels and only use something like the Railblazer to help at the front.
Great informative video. Thank you for sharing. Anything extra to add 3 years later?
Hi Paul what speed did it do? And with how many onboard?
Hi Ryan, I’ve never actually measured it but with 2 up (190 kg) it plains very quickly and feels rapid. If I had to guess, I’d say 15-20 knots.
@@Paul523069 20 knots sounds about tbh 👍 I have a 25 on mine however the engine is 57+ kgs so I am looking a lighter option, is the Suzuki easy lifted?
The Suzuki 20 is around 40Kg so it’s manageable for a few meters. I can shift it on my own from the stand to the transom. There’s a bit of footage in the vid of me doing it.
@@Paul523069 ok thanks for the info I’ve hit you a sub, I might trade my f25 for a Suzuki
Excellent demonstration. Thank you!
"Yaaaa Babyyyyyyyyy!
Thanks Paul I have the C-tug wheels on my kayak which work great on the pivot point, Am also getting a sib and was thinking of this as you have done. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Paul, I have the same boat with a Yamaha 25hp 2s. It’s a great lightweight portable boat. How has the suzuki 20hp been for reliability? I was thinking of trading the yam 2stroke for the suzuki 4stroke. The suzuki will be lighter more fuel efficient and less noisy! Regards!
Hi, the Suzuki is all of those things 😀. It’s been super reliable and I’m very happy with it.
@@Paul523069 Sounds great Paul. I know th e suzuki 20 will be down on power a bit but i don’t go flat out with my 25, iam half throttle or less all of the time apart from the odd full throttle clear out! Think it’s between the Suzuki 20 and the Honda 20! Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!

Use the pump to suck out the air 🙂 Thank me later..
Thank you, Paul. Nice video with lots of useful content and ideas. I have the same latest model T38 except I have the Mercury 20 EFI (very similar). By the way what documentation, permit, etc did you acquire for that part of the Thames?
Thanks. You’ll need a Thames boat licence. You can by daily/weekly/monthly ones from most locks, or get an annual licence from the Environment Agency. Cheers.
Like Martin Bowden below, I modified very easily a folding aluminium golf trolley, it cost me 15 euros second-hand. Hooks onto the front of the SIB more or less in the same way as your nose wheel. Turning corners is a breeze as I just raise the trolley handle slightly which clears the bottom of the boat and pivots on the hook. The trolley folds up ad its in the boat if necessary.
Excellent-some practical advice for once. I would be very interested if you could be bothered to know your approximate GPH at reasonable planing speed- I'm about to buy a 3,8 with a 15hp but any trip requires a calculation of fuel required- not good to run out !
Wonderful demonstration, thank you!
I'm the same weight as you, a bit shorter 6 ft 1", so this review speaks to me. But how do you get in if you fall out in deep water (tall walls) ? Does it auto-drain at all when spray gets in? Can it track fairly well without the skegs or is it a drag (literally)? Thank you.
Hello Paul. Great video. I have one boat with 90 kg of weight and engine parsun 20 cv (50 kg). I need to move the boat about 30 m. Do you think is ok using compass wheels? Thanks a lot from Spain😀
Just a comment on the wheels. I don't like this style as they can be a sod to insert and move into the vertical position (and vice versa) especially on a beach. They are also a little bit loose and can splay. In my case I had both wheels tilting to the left. This style is also not needed on the new Honwave boats as there are no flaps to avoid. Mason Marine in Exeter fitted fold-up straight legged wheels to my T32 ie which are perfect.
Thanks, Paul, for the demo. I, too, have a Honwave, t32ie, and have been looking at both products. We have to push ours up the beach and have found the best solution is to use a slightly modified golf trolley. Cheap, approx £5 from Marketplace, light, folding (though not as compact as the c-tug), and simpler to use than c-tug, as it has a handle. I use a strap around the boat with an s hook and loop, which is easier to fit.
Hi Paul can you pack it down easy cos I’m struggling with my excel 3.9 air deck but it’s 20kgs heavier than honwave thanks stu
This kayak is very unstable in the water. It can only be sailed in calm waters. It is fast, but you only use it in calm water because you have to keep an eye on your balance all the time. I fell over it even though the water was calm. So only buy it if you want to swim fast in calm waters. I am thinking about buying the Aqua Marina Steam-412 model because from the descriptions of other users it is more versatile. You can swim it even at sea, where the Air K 375 has no chance.
I find this happening more and more but this is baically a knockoff of a Sea Eagle Razorlite 393. Not sure of the price difference but if you are a fan of this boat its worth taking a look.
Is it stable at the sea conditions? How about plastic tickness? Do you think it can withstand small fishing needles :D
It is extremely unstable, even on calm lake waters. Honestly, this is one of the most unstable canoe/kayaks in general. Taking it into the sea would be high risk.
Hello Paul, my dad ordered the nose wheels from compass 24 a month ago but hasn't received them yet. Did you have any issues or delays with your purchase? Thanks 😊
Hi Joanne, they did take a while to arrive (a few weeks from memory).
Thanks bud, much appreciated. Anyone know what the Aqua Marine oars are like?
Hi Paul, very comprehensive and brilliant video full of practical tips, like the bow wheels, had not even thought of that and I have struggled with my 3.8 ie for years pulling up the banks of our river. Mine is 10 years old now and good as new...they are brilliant little boats. Have fun Dave
Cheers Dave. Really appreciate the comment.
Paul you do great informative videos BUT you show these great products with out a link to buy them. Do that and your channel is a winner, thanks for sharing Ray K. UK. YNWA.
That was absolutely BRILLIANT for me, I have know for a while now this is the boat I want. A bit of a shock to see it in real life. I looks so SKINNY. All of your gear makes so much sense I will be TWINNING your boat so if ever you are out and moor up with your LOCK not working when you get back. Get the F@@K off my boat lol. Ok question did you get all the stuff in with the price of the boat ? £1350 with high pressure foot pump a carry bag and the repair kit manometer tie rope and seat. Rib sell it with all that. How much was your motor and where did you get the front wheels from ? Sorry for all the questions but I really want one, Thanks for sharing Ray K. UK. YNWA.
Very informative. Thanks for sharing!
Great video Paul love the setup when you get older like me always looking for something easier
Thanks Stuart, couldn’t agree more 😀
Good video. I'm interested in them bow wheels. Would you recommend them. Subbed you. Atb Steve 👍
Hi Steve. Thanks for the sun. Your timing is impeccable as I’ve just finished recording a video comparing those bow wheels with a set from C-tug. I’ll get the video uploaded today/tomorrow. But I’m short, yes I do recommend them - there a real back saver.
Thank you. I will get them ordered. Atb Steve 👍
I bought them dolly wheels the turnable ones and they were crap the inflatable kept falling off especially when I was turning corners so I sent them back and bought a small foldable trailer instead. ATB Steve.
Like the front wheel trolley. How easy is it to manoeuvre and move with front and rear wheels please? Looking at investing but would need to move the boat 200yds+ from car park to slip.
We use this setup to wheel our boat from our house to the slip, which is 950m. There is a technique to turning sharp corners but once you’ve done it a couple of times it’s easy. So much less effort than trying to lift the front end and pull.
How much?
V useful thankyou
Thank you, great video. Looking at a Honwave so appreciate your advice.
nice set up ,hope to see you video a voyage
Actually fold up nice and does not look hard. Just wondering if this company has a kayak with self bailing plugs.? 🤷♂️
10 psi is not very hard. You sure it's not 10 bar?
Yes I’m sure it’s 10 psi. When combined with the structural element of the drop stitch fabrication of the floor and sides, the result is extremely solid.
Not 140 psi !!!! 10psi it is
You just sold that kayak, great little video.. Do you know Whos in the trade and sells these in uk at a reasonable price, excluding the drop shipping sites of course.. Thank you
I got this one from Purple Marine in the UK
Looks like a canoe
You guys should have a look at the da Vinci Canoa from Germany! Same type but you can remove the floor so it’s easier to clean and pack.
Thanks mate, that is the ideal boat design and it's even really cheap for what it is.
Thank you for your explanation about your Tomahawk kayak. I have been thinking about purchasing a Tomahawk kayak. I will try enjoying the kayak in a certain lake in Japan.
Great informative video, thank you. Would you consider doing a follow up with it on the water? I’d love to see how well this kayak goes and how stable it is 🛶
