First edition without is much better for portraits due bokeh and redemption than newer lens. Dont buy IS. Find good one old model.

5D4 I will say it again a legend!

I bought an old 300mm f/2.8 but could not micro adjust the focus on the 5DIV it was out of range. However, I matched it to me 5DS and the IQ wit this combination is incredible. In fact the IQ with most lenses is outstanding!

24-70mm f2.8 - no stabilization. It's a deal breaker for me, especially when lens cost that much.

If you are a photographer and know what you are doing this is an amazing camera... Ive been using it for the last 7 years for object, advertising, theatre, docu, wedding, events, night and other studio work in really lowlight and sunlight and it has never failed me. Up to 6400 ISO (yes there is noise but what do you expect?) and without problem...

For travelling on location, I like using mirrorless, however for studio work and anything on location close to home for clients, I prefer using a DSLR. EF lens are generally less expensive than the newer RF lens of the same focal range. 5D4 also has DPAF for video. If you need faster AF tracking like an event photographer or sports or wildlife maybe RF Full Frame cameras are better. For photos, 5D4 is good enough. Only for vacation use, I prefer lighter mirrorless so I own both.

Still using a 5d4 in 2025. I see no reason to change tbh as I have a great set of glass to go with it. I am envious of the autofocus of the R52 though...

I bought the Canon 5D MKII shortly after its release, and I still have and use it. I've been a professional photographer for over 40 years and this camera really did change the face of photography. I used it for weddings, model sessions, portraits, events, gr. seniors, boudoir, etc., along with a couple of Canon 7Ds. I currently own both EF and RF cameras and lenses so I don't use the 5DMK II too often, but now and then I grab it for a model or graduating senior session. I have never lost my respect for this camera; it's a favorite of mine. I've never used the video aspect and most likely never will, I'm a photographer not a videographer.

Canon 70-200 F2.8L IS II is way better than I. The III did not improve it.

It doesn't have IS though. Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 is better, and it's also weather sealed. However, Canon is sharper.

Great video and use cases. I have this one and the 16-35 which is usually the one on my prime camera. Since watching this, I’m going to reacquaint myself with the 24-70, thanks for the motivation!

thanks for the review here. thought there might be mention/precautions of lack of AA filter? curious how this treats you in the real-world, and perhaps how often (if at all) you would come across moire/artifacting? we're all so used to this not being much of a factor/issue with modern day cameras, and hoping to understand the potential downside of picking one of these up. thanks

Today 22 Dec 2024 ,after watched this video I am considering to buy one for product photography . I;Was thinking to have a Fuji film gfx 100 mark ii but it might be too much for internet display even at the year of 2025 .

I recently replaced my 5D3 with a 5D4, because it was too cheap not to. The 5D4 had 880 shots on the shutter and cost $1050. I then sold my 5D3 for $600. For all the "I'm a pro" talk, there are lots of people who don't use their cameras very much. When I can get the resolution of the R5 for the cost of today's R6, I'll go mirrorless. But before switching systems, replacing lenses, messing with adapters, I want to see a major improvement in the images. Going from 30mp to 24mp probably won't get me there.

I own a 5dII and it's the best DSLR for portraits. Never will sell it! (also own 5DIII, 5DSR, 50D, Leica SL 601, SL2)

Will I regret buying the a pristine used 2.8 to replace my loved 4? Always wanted the 2.8 but could not afford …. at the time. Now took a leap of faith with 2.8…. Well let see, if it is not worth, I’ll sell it back to someone else. 😮

Sorry, a very interesting video. I have one myself and the quality of the photos is outstanding. But I can't stand the background noise in your video. It's so annoying.

Just bought mine for $180. Wondering if it is safe to use to the CF adapter card as the buying new CF card can be quite expensice ?

Since I shifted from 5D MK2 to Sony A7III for 5 years, I brought one in 2024 and I love it.

If R series cameras would have a fixed screen, I would consider bying one of those. I never understood the concept of a flipping screen. Great video!

So it's good if there's a lot of light,with a premium lens, on a tripod, shooting static shots like architectural or landscape, or portraits when you manually focus on the eyes of your subject... For everything else with a lot less work, get a more modern camera.

I’m more than happy with my 24-105 F.4 L. Zero reason to update.

The raw images from this camera is insane..if you too lazy to edit pictures just get this camera….For low light:pro photographers always use flash(at any conditions) alway…

5dsr, allbeits build quality not Nikons & dynamic range is behind Nikon & Sony. Still 🔥 ● On 5dsr I'd use lenses: Canon 16-35mm f4 Sigma Art 40mm/28mm f1.4 Both lenses are 🔥

I've just ordered a 24-70mm F2.8 ii to replace my 24-105mm. The first thing I will do is compare it to my FA645 45-85mm F4.5. That is a great lens for medium format and I use the Pentax 645 150mm F2.8 for outdoor portraits. My go to Canon lens for the same type of work is 135mm F2. I find the canon 70-200mm is too big...lol

This is EF version , RF version I like most.

The answer in 2024 is: Hell yeah. And get those nice EF L lenses that people are currently dumping.

Best to go with ATG's It's an DSC-R1 with ATG/Zeiss (Zeiss Japan) 24-120 lenses. If you don't need video. ATG's world's first normal flash sync is 1/2000
