Ok so recently I saw a lip-sync performance to God Games, and it was really good (especially the ares and athena fight choreography), and tbh I would LOVE to see that with your lighting! I can't remember who made it but I bet I could find it again... It would be SO cool if y'all teamed up or smth idk, but anyone love ur work! ❤❤

Odysseus’s light should be red by the end

0:50 and the rest of the gods' intros is sooo cool!! i think it'd be pretty sick if instead of the gods being revealed under the gradual light, the lights could instead "flash" like what happened in 0:22 and they'd walk into the light LOL not sure if that makes sense but overall TREMENDOUS job!!

What if instead of this at 4:55 where it slowly fades and then gets smaller, we see overwhelming yellow, and a bit of blue light that grows brighter but maybe more focused/ smaller as the yellow gets pushed back to it’s spot? Idk if I explained that correctly, and ik im late, but it would be a way to imitate the canon animatic of Athena barely blocking and actually pushing back Zeus’s lightning bolts, even when she’s hurting herself.

I LOVE THIS! And the enfing of the voices coming back was so impactful. If you wanna play with that bit maybe have odysseus on the raft but the people circling him. So when it gives the feeling of drowning and beimg suffocated from his past and when he shoots up they scatter! I love how you showed the lights as water and just over consuming keep it up!

It epic ever becomes a musical (likely not) I hope the stage will move and change like in hamilton, the setting changes subtly over the course of the musical to show the construction of america.

I think it's very bland especially for characters like Hephaestus, But tbh really well put together for a concept!

I feel like Hera's entrance should be as dramatic as possible. Maybe having her float down from the upper rafters. And Ares should suddenly show up next to Athena and Aphrodite to interrupt and get in Athena's face immediately.

I love this a lot! A thought, Have Poseidon be pacing the top like a tiger in a cage. He's a predator that's been stalking his prey for 10 years and finally found him and all he needs is for Ody to get in the water. I think him going back and forth would add a lot. Keep up the amazing work!!

Definitely would have a main boat, then two smaller ones falling to the left and right of the main ship set ship. It’d be cool’s to have a consistent boat set and watch it become more and more beaten up as time passes in the musical.

I'm thinking about the choreography and the stage markers and the fact that I’d have about maybe 10 dancers on stage. Absolutely love the lighting. Would be cool if someone matched set design as well

why the heck everytime someone goes down he stars the slower the next one will move down the stairs

This is really great!! And is an aspect of plays that youtube videos normally don't focus too much. Though if I could give a few suggestions, I think it'd be good for Athena to walk towards the other gods while debating, it'd make a more graceful transition when the next one needs to go down and her color would reach more of the stage, encroaching on the opposing god's, which would be a nice visual representation of the dialog. Also, I totally agree with the "Ares jumping down" ideia others suggested, but I'd include a "Hera stays on top" it'd fit her character as the queen of gods and feed into the rule of 4 subversion of the first 3 going down to talk and the last 2 breaking the pattern.

the way the ares model stopped at the bottom of the stairs and then advanced is so good, it felt so personal

I really like the way you did the lighting for Zeus it really sells his power and makes him feel intimidating and threatening. if I were to give a criticism I think this is too conservative. I don't think you went far enough, for example: I think it might be more effective if Athena is given a single beam of light as opposed to an entire side of the stage to show that she is entering the other gods domains as well as maybe adding in white highlights of the projection of a clock face for when she's using quick thought, Apollo could maybe have lighting that mimics sunlight God rays or sunbeams to reference that he is a god of the sun, Hephaestus could have his lights pulse in time with the impacts of the hammer to imply flashes and sparks and shadoes, Ares could take over the stage when he appears completely erasing all other colors of light and then when Athena fights back the entire stage could go Blue for a moment. I'm not really sure what you could do with Aphrodite, but for characters with as little stage time as most of the gods here, I think more is better.

Amazing! Along with the other suggestions, Athena is fighting back during the musical interlude in the animatics. I think it’s kinda awkward having her just laying there lol And I’m sure there will be a certain time-stop lighting for when Athena does that

I think a lot of the slower light changes are done really well and fit the scene, but I can't help but feel that there should be just a few more quick transitions and erraticness given that this is giving gameshow vibes, because Zeus never intended for Athena to win. It's like a cruel prank, and it makes sense of the god king of thunder, Zeus, would be really flashy about it, really building suspense and making Athena think she really has a chance. Bc she does give it her all, her passion, and nearly even her life!! At 0:50 I imagine Zeus's platform rising up instead, in the foreground but above the other Gods as their platforms rise up-- maybe from under the stage one by one-- as they're introduced. Zeus still being lit up but dimmer than the other gods, but the rest of the stage goes dark until each introduction. Then each god giving a pose or a wave depending on each God's demeanor. Aphrodite seems like she doesn't even want to be there, so maybe body language that would usually go along with a scoff when she's introduced? And when Zeus goes, "or Me...", his light intensifies. And then go dark and continue exactly how you did it, that part was perfect. The gods descending the staircases? Perfection. I've been struggling to imagine how that'd work and you gave it so much life! At around 2:51, when the Athena skipping sounds happen I feel like Aphrodite and Ares's lights should flash dark and back with the beat, and Athena's light should get a lot stronger as she takes center stage. Especially when she says, "HOLD your tongue now!", her light should get very bright briefly at that near "HOLD" growl, she's just BARELY keeping in her rage and almost lost her temper. I feel like the actor would stomp forward pointing to Ares, more aggressive body language than usual and breaking Athena's typical stoicism. Maybe even surprising them and herself a bit, and then point or user her hand to refer to Aphrodite at "and tell your LOver that a BROKEN HEART can MEND!" as she moves forward. Maybe even climbing a small stair case to elevate herself as she makes her case! This is a time where we really see her express strong emotions without trying to hide it for the first time, and imo I think that should be really emphasized a lot because it adds to the drama of the moment. It also calls to her softening up a bit as she reflects on her actions later, as we see when she re-unites with Odysseus. During this exchange with the two gods, Aphrodite & Ares are reluctantly like, "ugh, release him", but still say to release him. Athena's emotions and love for her friends shined through, and convinced both of them-- the gods of love AND the spirit of war. Two extremely passionate domains, and she showed that passion to match them, to meet them at their level. Athena adjusts for each god like this-- except Hera, bc it seems Hera throws her off a little and perhaps Athena's display of emotion has even taken herself aback, or even exhausted her.. until she thinks of her choice line, "Not once has he ever cheated on his wife". Which obvs enrages Zeus, given Zeus IS Hera's husband. Typically Athena is fairly calculating and I would think she would usually avoid a pitfall like insulting the god king as she initially approached him with utmost respect, begging for his forgiveness, but it seems that the pressure of this dire battle and her almost losing her temper threw her off a little. On that topic, I really love how you had Athena move forward so that by the time she says "he'll make everybody bleed," she's front & center, facing the crowd, and really presenting her argument. Excellent detail work there. It all really helps the build up to Hera before the lights go dark and then go disco crazy, because that part was PERFECT. SO perfect. Zeus's lighting for his re-introduction of thunder bringer was immaculate too. I'm not sure if this is possible, but having a background affect that mimics visual (but less attention drawing) lightning strikes/ electric discharge building up to his strike on Athena would be perfect. I also think bc Zeus is god king, maybe have his platform be above the 5 other gods, smack dab in the middle. Instead of along the same line. That's how I've imagined it. It really sets the stage to display his hierarchy and control, like he's running the gameshow and has the final say even if everyone else HE APPOINTED votes against him. Athena didn't intend to make him feel shame, Zeus just never intended for her to win and stacked the cards against her. And in Greek mythology that's consistent with how Zeus had always treated Athena's existence bc she's a woman. He almost stopped her from being born out of fear of her power, leading to Hephaestus to use an axe to free her from Zeus's forehead. I would imagine Hephaestus is like a stern uncle to her, but I need to do more research. EDIT: NEVERMIND Hephaestus is into Athena and she ultimately ran from him as she has a chastity vow. And she raised Erichthonius, technically their kid but "biologically" belonging to Hephaestus and Gaia bc Greek lore has a lot of SA other s*x fuckiness. So maybe he's a lil salty. Overall, I absolutely loved this video. It really stirred my heart and made the gears in my head turn, yelling, "YES!!! This is it!!! GOD I can't wait for Broadway!!!!'. Like, HYPE!!! I hope my criticism isn't taken poorly-- it's just my one opinion out of many, and I have ZERO theatre experience beyond being an avid watcher, so there could be technical details that aren't possible that I'm wondering about. This video just gets me so excited for a live action musical AHHHHH. It's got me dreaming!!! Thank you for making this excellent stage show lighting!! I'm so excited :)

Awesome start! Would be very interested to see how Jorge would block these scenes and how that might influence the lighting design. Could definitely see a center stage lift that would allow Zeus to be lowered dramatically after "No one wins my game!" with the uplights following his descent as upstage sparks with an intense lightning storm. Definitely inspiring, thanks for uploading this!

I find them just sliding absolutely hilarious. But they’re gods, so maybe they don’t need to walk. Also Athena just levitating while ‘dead’ is just as funny.

i think instead of individual spotlights for every person in the individual entrances, the lights should just turn the person’s signature color wrather than being a spotlight, also i feel like there should be different spots for each entrance bc the stairs are kind of repetitive, i feel that you can have fun with zeus, aphrodite, and apollo with the stairs though, lots of cool levels

What program is this?

Really cool concept! Id love to see a stage play. Apollo should float/fly down Aphrodite should be carried in on silk rope Hephestes should come down in the middle of a moving work bench while working with a hammer (similar to the canon animatic) Aries needs fire for his intro, maybe he comes up from the bottom as his name is being repeated and the platform rises slightly above the stage with lighting to make him look larger than life. He jumps down as he begins his verses and starts to sword fight with Athena Hera should remain at the top stage, disco ball, platform shoes with a lot of groove in her movements

This stream was amazing and this guys work is phenomenal. The stream was a blast whether we were just suggesting ideas, asking questions or just seeing how the magic is done. I wish rustin the best in future endeavours and I will definitely try to catch more streams.

This is really good, but I think the direction of the characters becomes linear when they all do the exact same thing (especially because all of the characters are so different - motivation, expression, lyrically etc). From a directors point of view it would be interesting to see how different characters move around the stage and how lighting can enhance and reflect them rather than just light them when they need to be lit. Apollo being the god of the sun might stay on his platform, sit with his legs over the edge and be casual. Aphrodite would 100% be walking down the stairs for her part but Ares would already be downstage for his part. (Maybe experiment with levels as well, Aph is kind of giving mean girl energy, so could she be hanging behind and lean on the set?). I would also love to see the characters present instead of just leaving? backlight them or something to add to the pressure! It would be so interesting to see the lighting work with the character instead of for. Sorry this is such teacher energy from me... (ALSO I LOVE LOVE LOVE ZEUS'S THUNDER!!!!!) all in all really good job with this! maybe just try to make the lighting more individual to characters.

I looked through a lot of comments and so noone comment this but the part "Is she dead" is actually sung by Ares so the lighting should be Red aside from that this was actually so cool to see thanks for putting in the work Good Luck and Have fun doing more of this projects :D
