Not sure about house or marriage certificate but I know you cannot change your name on your child’s birth certificate, unless it’s when you take the name of the child’s biological parent after marrying.

hey Dr storm, apologies for how late I am.. honestly, I'm not quite sure when it comes to kids birth certificates and marriage certificates. I imagine its more like emailing your wedding register and asking to update your name? As for property papers, you should send deed poll as well as a driving licence/passport to uodate the legal documents. it shouldn't be a pain but sometimes legal things are anyway. what I know for sure, is that you have the right to change your name on any document so you are legally obliging with all laws. some don't make it so easy but we still need to do it to avoid having two names as it can raise suspicion and be deemed fraud.

yes some companies charge for the main copy as well as extra copies you order with it. you can download a free one as stated in the video and have it signed and witnessed. then have your witness sign and date a bunch of them! they will be all your copies if that makes sense

yes I agree with Victoria. you can change any parts of your name to pretty much anything! as long as you make the commitment to using it on all documents and never use older names again.

hi, thankyou for your question and apologies for my delay. life has been on the tough side of things. I'd fill a paper application and definitely send the deed poll with it. if the name on the deed poll, is the name uou officially use, then it should be on your license.

@@AdamKashmiry I’ve just checked this and according to the deed poll office “there is no legal requirement to renew your passport if you change your name. Your passport will remain a valid document, and you can still travel with it”. 👍

hi, yes you are right. if name change is only for (last name) change due to marriage then only marriage certificate needs to be sent to update the passport :)

you can only change name, never age. you can change name depending on your immigration status. if your nationality is not British, I'm unsure if you can use Deedpoll in this country, perhaps you might need to reach out to your country of birth.

hi, thanks for your question. as far as I know, you can use your marriage certificate if you are taking on your partner's name. marriage certificate should be find for that. but if you are changing your first name, then definitely Deedpoll. Search Deedpoll online. download a form and have it witnessed by someone professional you know. or use one of the online services which should be under 20 quid, and let them send one out for you. it looks more professional but its the same concept, and you also need someone to witness the signature. apologies for late reply but I hope this is of any help to you now. no. Changing your title and name can be done without changing gender. I changed mine 2 years before my gender was legally changed :)

definitely change your name now. then it's much less hassle with your passport as everything will be ready. as opposed to, having the passport first. then doing a Deedpoll to change name. then send it back to passport and pay another fee for changing name. you can save yourself all of that by applying for Deedpoll now and just send it off with your passport application.

And my deed poll was already done since 2018 and been using the name on it since then. So issuing British passport for first time ! Which name i m able use ?

So my solicitor said to me today that u can issue ur first British passport only under ur name on the passport ? He was confused a bit i would say . What u think ?

I'd advise to recheck with passport offices or give em a call. they are very helpful and answer any questions.

hi Chan, everything you mentioned above should be okay. When you get new Drivers licence and passport, if you decide to rent/ buy/mortgage, it will be in your new name. but if you have nothing in your name, then you don't need to do anything. HMRC are important ones to inform about your name change. your mobiles provider maybe? Change anything that has your dead name on it. that should simplify things :)
