Nice race, the pink Porsche almost ends your race hahaha
One of the best feelings
That's not a gap. You shoved him out of the way. You pulled a Maldonado.
he turned wide in previous laps as well leaving the same gap but this time he slowed down for pit stop so started turn in a bit late that is why it seems maldonado. could have avoided it if i knew he would pit but there was no indicator. dont forget he made me crash and then he quit. look at my full videos you can see i drive safe.
What car are you driving?

>> BEST VIDEO! ssd in SATA 3 / to ssd out with USAP! USB 3.0 and how to use it BRAVO! Any changes in 2021, Any USB updates that have changed this numbers ?? I ordered an EVO 870 1TB after seeing your Video :) For the 1GEN PS4 is internal SSD still the fastest way to Load games my friend ??
USB speed is limited by the console port. It doea not matter if you attach faster interface. Internal ssd is the fastest though.
The internal SSD getting faster after three attempts makes sense because it learns what you want to continually open so it will open it faster like how the SSHD's 8GB cache learns what programs are frequently used so it opens them faster after multiple launch times.
Thanks for the comparison videos! I can't believe you are the only person out there who has made the internal vs internal ssd video! Seems like every one who did the external SSD/HDD comparison should have done external vs internal lol
FINAL RESULTS: Internal SSD: 1. 122 seconds 2. 105 seconds 3. 101 seconds Average = 109 seconds External SSD: 1. 111 seconds 2. 108 seconds 3. 114 seconds Average = 111 seconds External HDD: 1. 140 seconds 2. 141 seconds 3. 146 seconds Average = 142 seconds Summary: Results are best from top top to bottom but the result times are still pretty close. I (the owner of this comment) have an internal SSD and enjoy the benefits but it was costly. If you don't want to spend a lot of money then go with an external HDD for extra space. You could also get a small internal SSD (125 GB or 250 GB) and then a big 1/2/4TB external HDD
SSD is so cheap now - compared to 2y ago.
I get people want comparisons with recorded timed footage but there's plenty of those videos online and this actually does something else those others don't. Most share only one test or a single number average. While you showed the full times on each load. This is important because something your results how unlike the others is that SSD load times get faster as it repeats the same game over and over. This is big for those of us who like to play certain games all the time or replay one frequently. It means long run in those situations a person is better using an internal SSD over the external ones so many other RUclipsrs recommend.
Wow I didn't thanks for sharing that info, I'm one of those guys who will play only 1 or 2 games over and over, so having a ssd will really be a benefit.
@@emjbostwick2068 I've been using an internal SSD in my PS4 Pro for almost a year now. And the load times are great for frequently used games. In Blacks Ops Cold War for example I usually load in first most games even on larger maps then the other players. Games with large open worlds like Genshin Impact that I play fairly regularly also have little to no load times. As the SSD is use to loading more of the game quicker. Especially in areas I frequently travel to for daily grinding.
Just about to do this and so glad u already have!
THIS IS A “How not to make a comparison” video. Wow terrible
Does SSD fix texture pop-in issue ?
In some cases it could but it may vary on game to game basis.
Thank you.
So external is about the same as internal 😉 got ya
Nice vid eeeasy! Keep up the good work mate!
There is one variable that I suspect was left out of this test; heat. The PS4 generates enough heat to cook your next meal when used for prolonged times. Any drive inside is going to be getting lots of heat, and will therefore slow down over time. This of course would only affect heavy users. Casuals need not to worry about it. But also casuals won't likely be getting an SSD. In addition, the less heat the external drive will get will preserve the drive for much longer. Thus giving more than the internal in the long run.
I was worried about heat too but no problem so far.
Awesome vids! Just subscribed. Any chance of a video comparison of Days Gone? If I had known that SSD can reduce pop in, I would have done this a long time ago, but now that PS5 is coming, I hate to have to change out my internal again. I already threw a 2tb in there when I got my pro. If internal is truly better for pop in, I guess I will do it, but if external will do the same job more or less, I'd prefer that option. I also want an external for my Xbox one X. That one is not getting an internal. Lol Thoughts?
Thanks. Cannot make it with Days Gone sorry man changing HDDs to SSDs then back is so time consuming. As for pop ins, at least in The Division 2 there is nothing to worry about comparing to HDD. RDR2 has some texture streaming issues but still far superior than HDDs. To be fair this generation's games are not optimized for SSD on consoles I expect a huge leap next gen. Xbox internal is swappable a bit tricky but I always do it with mine it has faster UI and better Game DVR functionality than HDD. You can still use external SSD on xbox and you will see the difference in open world games both loading and pop ins.
Would the Samsung t5 external ssd work the same ?
Pretty much the same
Are the load times ok on the slim?
Cannot tell do not have a slim
external ssd in game have best loading extures in game? for example rpg open world.. ac odyssey... or not?:)
my experience say yes but it depends on how game or texture streaming is coded. it may not worth buying an ssd for better texture streaming only but there are other benefits as well
Question for you; with the PS4 GameDVR constantly churning away in the background, do you think running the drive externally for games helps with recordings being saved more efficiently on the internal?
I think it does not work like this. My obsevation is SSD is best as internal storage because latency to access data takes way less time than with spinning drives. I need to make a video about it I guess.
Is a samsung evo 1tb internal is a major improvement for the ps4 pro?
Sure, expect better loading times and fewer pop-ins (eg. in Division 2) smoother UI transitions
Keep in mind though the 24/7 loop recording that is happening while game is constantly writing to your system drive. That is a lot of data being sent daily to that drive for no reason. I think the best (and easiest) of both worlds would be to buy a SSD or SSHD and simply install it in an enclosure as an extended drive. Load all games onto it. You lose the slight improved PS4 boot up times but your SSD drive doesn't get the workload that way. I just ordered a 480GB SSD for $65 that I will use in a 3.0 enclosure. I did already install the system on a 240gb SSD and then realized the recording concern which is far better suited for a HDD since you can't turn it off. After my tests and moving drives around I did conclude the recording cache is always on your system drive. Saves are also on the system drive. My system is back on the stock drive and will transfer the 100gb of games over to the external SSD when it arrives.
You have a point but mine is still working. I put one into xbox as well though there is an option to disable recording.
If someone is going to spend money on an SSD I recommend that they put the SSD internal and then the stock hard drive can become the external HDD. Internal SSD always give better performance when internal especially with the constant screen recording happening in the background. That being said, the load times are so similar it's almost not worth it by looking at the numbers however I got and SSD for my PS4 and then my Pro and I am very glad I did it. The game load times are a little better but more importantly, now the UI never slows to a crawl or freezes, I can switch between apps and bring up the menu overlay with no fear of anything crashing, slowing, freezing, or glitching. P.S. Most of those problems happened on my standard PS4 and were alleviated with the SSD. My PS4 Pro has had the SSD from Day 1.
@@BigBoii1369 However,if you got a base PS4 and not a Pro,the external SSD is the route to go with a base PS4 because of the SATA II thats in the Base PS4 intergrading face only capping at 300mbs to begin with. The PS4 Pro caps at higher numbers due to SATA III and could benifit more from an internal SSD than just a external SSD. The reason for this is because all PS4 version support 3.0 USB outputs which boost the performances out of external devices such as SSDs,HDD,and other media devices. And since SSDs have lower failure rates long term, they -offer nearly the same sizes as HDDs -cost more but are way faster in terms of data catche -and can actually speed up downloads due to fact that the information from your internet and how SSDs write data are pretty similar.
Can I use it on the regular ps4
Sure
Technically, no because the original PS4s USB 3 port is connected to the SATA 2 so there should be no performance increase. I’m not sure though. The PS4 Pro has a SATA 3 port.
will the frame rate be affected on the PS4 Pro if you use an SSD (whether internal or external) VS using an external HDD?
Javier Bustamante unfortunately it won't affect the frame rate, but it will load faster.
2:10 is what you guys came here looking for
God among men.
Great test thanks for sharing mate! :) pretty much concludes what I thought, USB 3 connection is great but nothing is a substitute for internal. Though using EVO SSD's is a bit overkill doncha think? lol you can get these kind of results with SSD's half the price due to the limitations of the PS4.
CEWIIH thanks for watching. That SSD I have so I didnt have choice.
I'm curious about using a 7200 rpm 3.5 external HDD on a ps4 pro with USB 3.1. can't find any videos though, wonder if it's worth the $100
You probably need external power supply for 3.5 drives and I believe it is spinning all the time. I would not expect that much improvement compared to 5400 rpm drives speed though.
Tsal Tsirf every HDD that faster than internal will be better as external
I would have loved a side by side comparission rather... you know, the current format :P
I made this video entirely on PS4 so that is the reason why no side by side comparison.
I can't believe you kept that multiplier going dude HOLY CRAP
It was totally accidental and I was even fiddling with radio stations in the middle of the game. I know, right?
You shouldve have shown what you actually did. For example, you say 1st, 2nd, 3rd attempt. What are you attempting?? And load A and B? what's A and what's B?
Yes, 1st attempt is 1st try and so on. I started the same game 3 times on each storage. Load A is from game start from playstation menu to game menu, Load B is loading the game from game menu to save point. Then quit the game and start over.
Yr the only person ive seen do this. Good job dood
Thank you
Whats the dif between an ssd and a hdd? Is an ssd more expensive?
Yes it is. SSD is solid state drive it is like memory chips while in HDD (hard disk drive) there is a spinning disk platter inside. SSD has no moving parts has a lot better access time than HDD and faster read write operations. More precise info on wikipedia or on tech sites.
SSD is fast, but not worth the high cost for the time savings imo. Your only saving like 10-30 seconds a load. If you played the game an hour and loaded 6 times, you would have only saved 1-3 minutes per hour. If you play through the game in 60 hours, you would have saved just 1-3 hours of load time over the entire game. You can easily blow more than 3 hours of off task time sitting in class or at work in 1 month. SSHD seems to be the way to go.
You are probably right. But in 60 hour playthrough you can save 5% playtime, that sounds a lot. Not to mention other benefits of SSDs like better texture streaming, noiseless operation, less heat emission. In my previous video I could test SSHD loading times: ruclips.net/video/Adsnw3_Sek4/видео.html
I already installed a 1 TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD in my PS4 Pro. It's about 2/3 full already. When it's full, I think I would opt for the highest capacity/performance HDD I can use externally. Then I think I would optimally install the games with tedious loading times on the internal SSD, others on external HDD. The best of both worlds.
eeeasy I'm looking at the 4TB 850 evo SSD, but the piece is $1,500. Currently I'm running a $100 Seagate 2TB SSHD that is 3/4 full. It can load GTA V on the 3rd attempt in 0:58 seconds, which is on par with top SSD's. Might just drop the cash for the extra benefits like you've mentioned.
I think that is the best idea if you don't want to delete and download games but keep them on your own storage. Keep in mind game updates will be downloaded even if you don't play a particular game you have on external HDD so you cannot avoid internet traffic completely.
SSHDs reach top loading times by 5th attempt and it is about the same as SSD. But when I used SSHD as internal it was so hot to touch after a few hours of gaming that I decided to take extra steps to cool down the system. I am in the middle of a comparison job how a stock PS4 Pro and a slightly modified PS4 Pro emits heat and noise during 4K gaming. Will post a video when ready but I can tell I am so satisfied with the heat and noise of the modded console.
New comparison video on final 4.50 firmware: ruclips.net/video/-4mYzDKvKWk/видео.html with The Division. Next comparison with Horizon Zero Dawn.
So basically you don't need to combo a ssd with a external hard drive ?? Me and my friend was debating but we don't know a lot about it
Robert Thomas no, you don't but if you do, you have the speed of SSD and storage space of HDD at the same time.
eeeasy I thought so my friend and I was debating but he wanted to do a small ssd like a 250gb and use a 4tb external hard drive not even sure how that would work but thanks for the info
It is a good idea as long as you keep everything on HDD and copy a few games you currently play to SSD. Keep in mind 250GB as internal drive means ~160GB free space. But games like TLOU, R6 Siege has no benefit being on SSD so these can be played from external HDD because these do not need the loading speed advantage. Open world games benefit more from SSD loading speed.
eeeasy I believe his plan is to play his current game until he finishes it or wants to move to the next game and yes he plays open world games but when he is done with it just transfers it to the external hard drive and always have his ssd freed up
eeeasy and whatever game that doesn't benefits from the ssd just uses the external hard drive
Please keep in mind, PS4 Pro has USB 3.0 so the external load times will be good. Standard PS4 does not, so it would be interesting to see how the times on standard PS4 compare.
dumahim every PS4 has USB3.0, PS4 Pro has additional USB port on backside, it is 3.1
why would you choose a game that is impacted by network/ server speeds???? and how come your using 2 different class drives..
I have chosen multiple games if you read description you must know that Horizon Zero Dawn is next. And there will be more. I have those 2 drives mate ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ besides, they are not that different when you use it with PS4.
great!! slightly disappointed to see external ssd does not show any significant improvements in loading times...
thanks. I assume if you load game from external it has to wait for internal pushing data to the pipeline, eg. saves. so it may not be possible to be in use simoultaneously or external independently. I am preparing Horizon Zero Dawn loading times comparison we will see how it handles external SSD.
TheStyles4life So you did not read description ... hmm ... it is Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD.
You do realize that the PS4 doesn't have a SSD from the factory right?
Do you know the speed of the standard HDD? It should be as slow as the first attempt with the SSHD (22s) or am I wrong?
Random stuff I have not measured stock HDD this time. In my latest video I included standard HDD as external drive, here you are: ruclips.net/video/-4mYzDKvKWk/видео.html
Thanks!
this exactly soleved my problem! thanks
There is more on the way with 4.50 final fw stay tuned
nice. waiting for the more results. keep up the great work!
this is very helpful. Was looking for the test.
Thank you very much!
this is what I need thank you
