Join Rob as he describes the equipment the team used to record The Arctic Ride. In this video we will go over the pros, cons and what we would change with the audio and video equipment we used. We are in no way professionals, this is just a look and the equipment we used and what worked (or didn't) for us. Love the editors note. Lol. Such a thing!
Hi Guys, thanks a lot for all the videos and the advices (regarding the Milepost for exemple, i know the internet site but i did not realize that it is also a travel guide). I write you from Montreal, Canada. I plan to ride the Dempster Highway next June from Montreal, on my BMW 1200 GS. It seems to me that you did not always take highways (that is great because highways are boring, even on big confortable adventure bike like mine ;)) on your way up to Dawson city; you said also in the first episodes of your Artic ride that you were not talking the same route on your way back; so is it it possible to send me the important stages of your itinerary, the names of the main cities you crossed for example ?On another subject, can you tell me what tires you used, this mainly for my travel partner who should ride a Suzuki V Strom 650cc? Thanks for your help. PS: I am not finished regarding your ride again and again, catching advices, adresses, ideas...;) Thanks again for posting these videos"
Glad you're enjoying it and finding some useful advice. It's an amazing trip for sure! If you want to send us an email I can send you our Itinerary in excel format. It has all the distances, and links to maps etc. infoexplorationsevo@gmail.com. I (Rob) had Dunlop Trail Max Mission front and rear on my KLR650. I used them the entire trip and highly recommend them. I will be doing a review video on them shortly.
you didn't set it up correctly that's why you have water pooling
Thank you guys. I'm planning a solo trip to tuk from Grande cache Alberta. 3000km one way. Planning on 3 weeks. July 2025 I'm thinking of riding hard to get to the Arctic Ocean 4 or 5 days. If the weather is good take my time to get back to Dawson. You guys suggest a few days in Tombstone did some research looks amazing. I have run some gravel in the territories before, I am from Yellowknife NWT. ( Raised) Thanks for the info Guys I was taking notes. Dust mask is on the list
Glad you found the video helpful. I would suggest adding wet wipes to that list if you have space. Hope you have an awesome trip!
Who makes your barrel carriers?😊
It's actually a no-name barrel carrier, no brand or anything on it. I got it at my local outdoor store.
How about whole milk powder?
We haven't actually tried that yet. Maybe I'll bring some on our next trip.
How's the tent now? Is it stand strong or any leak?
Still good, no signs of any leaks. And I have been rained on multiple times.
@@explorationsevo nice to know it , thanks for let me know 🍻
is that tubing included and does it work with Sawyer mini filters?
The tubing is included. There are no special connectors to the filter, the tubing just slides over the barbs on the filter, so it looks like a Sawyer filter would work. I've never tried it personally though. I would compare hose barb diameters on the Sawyer and MSR filters, it may be shown in the specs.
They destroy the reefs 😢
The cages destroy the reefs?
@@explorationsevo Dominicans are destroying the reefs,I am Dominican and that saddens me a lot
Thanks for posting this! I like your instructions better than MSR’s.
@@GingerByrn1 glad you found it helpful!
Lots of people have commented in other posts about sharp shale for a stretch north of Eagle Plains. I don't recall you mentioning this in your previous video or this one. Did you encounter this?
25:20 is the rock I think people were talking about. It didn't seem sharp to us, but maybe in certain conditions it can be? We were also told by several people to watch out for the sharp shale.
@@explorationsevo Thanks. I saw that portion you reference just after I posted my question. From what I understand though the "sharp shale" that people have mentioned was loose crushed rock that served as the gravel rather than the larger rocks embedded in the road surface. Supposedly it was worse after a grader had stirred it up and left some of the shale shards on edge. I guess that wasn't an issue for you. (Great videos BTW. A couple of years ago I road my Harley Softail from Red Deer, AB to Dawson City, Top of the World, and the Dalton as far as the Arctic Circle. In a year or two I hope to go back and do the Dempster and complete the Dalton.)
@dalewheeler3201 that makes sense. There was only a small section of road being graded when we went through. The top of the world highway is definitely on our to-do list!
That first portage was home to a monster common snapping turtle my first pass by - a great area ill be back to ina few weeks!
Swapping out those rubber pegs for even some cheap amazon metal flat dirt bike pegs will do wonderful for your control while standing!
I want that and different boots as well. Sharp pegs would shred my current boots.
Have u use it in colder days, how does it handle? And wind, do you get any breaze inside? Sum tents you can really feel the air moving inside
We've used it in the fall with temperatures around 5C. It's not a 4 season tent so I don't rely it for insulation. Also very little air movement inside even on windy days, which is great for fall but not ideal in warm weather.
Random viewer here 😂, great job, and the audio was great!
Thanks! I think we finally got our audio sorted.
No air vents, that's the problem.
Thanks for the review. And added note on the strainer lid. Good warning.
I visited Peggy’s cove last summer, beautiful part of the world. Looks great in the winter too and less tourists 👍
I'm buying it from REI, it's on sale during their 4th of July sale for $110.99 40% off the original price of $185. I'll use it for bikepacking this summer on the TransAmerica Bike Route from the Pacific to Atlantic Coasts.
❤
How fuckin tall are you dude? You look like a giant
Just wondering how did you know about the underwater structure?
I randomly found it 20 years ago while diving there with my uncle. We knew there were logs but we didn't know about the gears and winches.
@@explorationsevo Hanna go check it out on my next fishing trip :D.
The big chair doesn’t assemble the same way
Good to know. I haven't seen the big chair in person.
Thanks for sharing. I can’t seem to find any pictures or videos of the yurt I booked #7. The smaller one might be that, hopefully it will be modern like the one you had.
The yurts all looked pretty similar, the only difference is that some have a wood stove. Hope you have a great trip!
Excellent video. Very useful for me. Thanks.
Thanks, we're glad you found it helpful!
The "easiest way" to start filtering water is to use a bottle with clean water.....what if you don't have clean water to prime the tube/filter?
It's possible its just a bit more work. I would pop the filter off the dirty water side of the tubing and allow the line to fill completely with water, then re-attach the filter. That should provide enough suction to start a syphon. It will be slow until you are able to get all the air out of the lines.
A great series, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing it all with us. Anymore journeys coming ?
Thanks glad you enjoyed! We have some small trips planned as well. Next big trip should be summer of 2026, destination is a secret for the time being.
Amazing!!! Thanks for taking us along!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Just wondering why we never see the other people on this trip? Are they still in witness protection? Ha ha ha!
Shhhh!
This is the best clip that I have seen for TNF Stormbreaker II. This is my third one. I like this color and the canopy rainfly. I love TNF zipper at ease compared to the most expensive tents. I have no issues with the zipper. I use my index finger and thumb on the zipper to prevent the rainfly flap gets caught in the zipper. I have looked for a gear loft for a long time, but they are made of mesh. However, this NRS Hydrolock solves my problem! I can watch a movie in the tent. I can't wait for my tent to come in the mail. Good job on the video!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Hi from York Region ON, just finished the Preparations and first episode. Good to see other ppl from near me make their way to the Artic Ocean, an amazing adventure. Looking forward to watching the rest.
Thanks, and welcome!
Tail of the Dragon in Ontario doesn't even compare to the US version. Well worth the trip, although the US one isn't very scenic compared to other roads in that TN/NC area.
It is definitely very high up on our to do list!
Fantastic, fellas! I feel like on was on the ride with ya.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
Ends right in the feels with the last day questions! 🥹
all good things come to an end... the road tripping withdrawal is real
There's a solution to that :)
Oooo double back in time!!
Nice series I really enjoyed it. I hope to do this trip someday as well.
We highly recommend it!
Hi, It's really cool the video What is the name of the hotel in Prince George? Thanks
It was the North Star Inn and Suites
Thank you very much for responding 🤟🏼
This gives me RDR2 vibes
Almost done in this series! Maybe for a final episode, you guys can answer some of the more popular questions people have been askin in the comments?
Series finale is this Saturday! We go over a lot of info regarding the trip in our Amateur Hour Video: ruclips.net/video/5j5XNHS7oD4/видео.html
I have been watching along from the start. Being from London, I am also planning this trip to Tuk as well as Prudhoe Bay in 2026. I have started to research and see the details around the logistics. I will be doing this solo though.
That's awesome, I hope you have a great trip! From talking to people up there, the road to Prudhoe Bay is in much better condition than the Dempster and ITH
I am here to learn about oTENTiks, i plan to go to Mingan islands in Québec ( it's a Canada Park) and they offer this
They're very nice, and from what I've seen they're the same in all Parks Canada Parks.
We have been watching your trip from the start. When you the "scenic route" out of Drumheller we knew you would run out of gas. We too took that "scenic" route before. It is scenic till its not lol.
Definitely wasn't expecting to run out of gas there
Cheeehoohooo😂😂😂🇼🇸🇦🇸🇹🇴💯🥥🔥
Hip hop is the last thing needed in nature.
hahaha, well then I guess it's a good thing "it was all a dream"
Great sale on this at REI right now. I couldn't decide on the 2 person or 3 person, so I bought both, lol. I'll donate whichever I don't want to a fundraiser.
I know. I just bought 1
Damian and his ride comes through - welcome home buddy!
He did technically make it home!
Fantastic series of videos. Well produced. Thanks for putting together a very enjoyable story.
Glad you enjoyed it! We enjoyed making it!
Are there electrical outlets?
There are. Only a couple though.
Look at the profile on the point.😊
Yes, it became obvious while editing the video.
Your fuel pickup tube is angled in the wrong direction. You need to rotate it 180 degrees, otherwise you'll start sucking air while there is still fuel in the bottle.
Good to know! I didn't know that was a thing,
