Просмотров 141Год назад
Mainly composed by Guy Bacos Violins and Violas bar 11-41 composed by Michael Ducharme for the VSL contest I added a bit of Lexicon Random Hall tail overall, other than that, I didn't add anything to the limiter that came with the project.

A Short Love Story - Rescore
Просмотров 90012 лет назад
Carlos Lascano's "A Short Love Story", rescored by Michael Ducharme Original video used "Hoppipolla" by Sigur Ros I thought the Sigur Ros song worked excellent in the video - but I was asked to re-score it, so I took my own very different approach.

Sir can i use this track? Please reply
Hello, yes - contact me by email and I can send you a 48kHz WAV file for higher quality.
But your music not effect to my monetize system?
@@worldexplorewild6752 I wouldn't think it should affect that, but I don't know how that works. As I said you are free to use it and you can contact me by email at mducharme at gmail dot com if you want a higher quality WAV version.
Sure
This entry has kind of a unique vibe to it Great job!
Beautiful! I love how the harmonic complexity steadily increases, from the opening bagpipe line with its fixed scale to the polytonal bit at the end. It gives the feeling of slowly opening up. Well done!
It's not exactly polytonal, but I did want the effect of the bass notes seeming to clash with the upper voices. Instead of leaving the bass notes dissonant, I worked them into the harmonies above. So after the big D major when the trumpets appear for the first time, I have a Bb augmented triad, which shares the D and F# as common tones. This is heard as a voice leading chord or appoggiatura chord in context. Then I go to Ab in the bass voice, which I rationalized and harmonized as the leading tone (G#) of an applied dominant minor ninth (V9 of V), which then moves to a root position V9 of V on the E, which then moves to V on the A with a neighbor decoration up to B. At first though I did hear the tones Bb and Ab in my head and only after that did I try to rationalize what I was hearing and integrate it with the rest of the harmony.
Oh! Great orchestration!
That melody is stuck in my head for days. Great job.
Whoa, like the passion and lively magic!
This is such a pretty piece of music! Great submission, Michael!
Beautiful ❤
Lovely entry Michael! Best of luck. I love the Erhu doubling - if I have that right - it gives a phasy vibe thats fits the synthy electronic aspect of the prompt!
A lovely melodic approach, good luck
Is that an Erhu?
Yes, that's the Orchestral Tools Erhu.
Wow this is wonderful Michael, you managed to do something I was trying but failed to do, inject your score with futuristic flavor by using synth elements alongside the orchestra. What instrument is that vocal(ish) lead line if you don't mind me asking? The sparkly arps are super nice too. :)
Thanks - the lead line is an Erhu. I used the Orchestral Tools Erhu, I didn't have one before and was able to pick it up rather inexpensively.
Man I'm addicted to this melody!
I love it. That's a cool work !
Awesome! Keep up the great work!
Beautiful work! It feels very reminiscent of the Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs soundtrack. Out of most of the pieces in this competition, this one is probably one of my favorites. Good work!
Very nice thematic additions that support the original material very well. Some highly creative and effective string writing in there, and very well-crafted.
Great stuff!
Very nice! Cinematic and epic, like you do so well. I don't know what to call it, but you do that thing that they do in Star Trek music a lot. I guess I'd call it transitional harmony. Rather than picking a note one might expect, picking a note that makes it sound like it's going somewhere else, or building up, and then it does. Great job!
LIKE and my congratulations for your effort and your music! great job Michael! I also made my entry! Greetings from Argentina and good luck with your score! Where are you from?
Hello, thank you! I am from Canada.
Wonderful track. Thank you for sharing this. I have done First Contact Main Titles by ear. It's on my channel.
Great Michael. I've just entered the Main Titles into Sibelius (with noteperformer), and about to transfer to Dorico. I was about to start on this one too. Feel like swapping?

Fantastic job. I don't know what the original music sounded like, but I don't see how it could top this. You tapped into the emotion of each moment, like the best scorers (scoriers? scoratorians?) do. Film quality work.
I was NOT expecting that
Michael, this is quite a nice work, one of my favorites from Goldsmith. Congrats on the accomplishment. Did you do this by ear or is the score available somewhere?
Not by ear - the score is available from unofficial sources.
The score is now available from Omni Music Publishing - I would highly recommend it.
I wonder how people in the audience actually know who Lebo M is?
