Photographer Ray Collins captures the magic that happens at the intersection of water and light. Each shot in this film was created from a single one of Ray's original photos. The stills are transformed into cinemagraphs - a hybrid between photo and video - an infinite loop that makes a single moment last forever. The original soundtrack was created by two very talented musicians, André Heuvelm...
Planet Earth In 42K Resolution

I had the pleasure of creating content for a unique installation of 22 curved OLED screens at Museon, The Hague. The installation is part of a permanent exhibition titled One Planet, that is endorsed by the United Nations. The visuals were filmed in 42K horizontal resolution, so that visitors can admire them not only from a distance, but can also walk up to the screens and see every single deta...
The Infinite Now

Over the past months I've been working with Australian photographer Ray Collins to bring his amazing oceanscapes to life in the form of cinemagraphs, a blend between photography and video. Each cinemagraph is created from one of Ray's stills, and sets it in infinite motion, making a unique moment in time last forever. These cinemagraphs inspired André Heuvelman from the Rotterdam Philharmonic O...

Temporal Explorations
Просмотров 38010 лет назад
In a lot of my work I try to capture the element of time, warping, twisting and bending it in all sorts of unconventional ways. This results in techniques like long exposure time lapse, morphing still images, and others I don't even know what to call. I decided to combine a number of those experiments into this short compilation.
Cinemagraphs - Rocks and Water
Просмотров 1 тыс.10 лет назад
In this shot I captured waves crashing on the rocks. I wanted to give it a slow-motion feel, but at the same time create those nice streaks that you get in long exposure images. These two things seem impossible to combine, since one requires capturing the scene at a high frame rate, while the other requires the shutter to be open for a long time. As you can see here I managed to find a way to d...
Cinemagraphs - Chronosphere
Просмотров 35310 лет назад
A black & white re-interpretation of a time lapse shot that I did originally for my Chronosphere video. If you have been following my work, you'll know that I like to come up with new techniques if need be, if I can't realize the vision I have in my head using existing techniques. In this case I wanted to create the look of a long exposure photograph, but in motion. It was one of those things t...

A short impression of the new Toyota Auris hybrid, with polar explorer Marc Cornelissen. The spoken parts are in dutch, but if you don't speak dutch, just enjoy the imagery :-) We filmed everything but the last shot at the "Maasvlakte" area in the Rotterdam harbour, an artificial extension of the harbour. *5 Day Black & White Moving Image Challenge - Day 2* The second installment in the 5 day B&W challenge for which I have been nominated by Rachel Wei, and which I decided to turn into the B&W Moving Image Challenge, posting a cinemagraph (hopefully) every day. In this one I captured waves crashing on the rocks. I wanted to give it a slow-motion feel, but at the same time create those nice streaks that you get in long exposure images. These two things seem impossible to combine, since one requires capturing the scene at a high frame rate, while the other requires the shutter to be open for a long time. As you can see here I managed to find a way to do it :-) The process? Capture a continuous series of long-ish exposures (each about a second) back to back, using the camera's continuous shooting mode so there's as little of a gap between shots as possible. Then turn those into a very short time lapse, slow it down by a lot, and blend the frames together to bring out the already present streaks in the water. Simple as that! Check back tomorrow for the next cinemagraph. Cinemagraphs - Rocks and Water
