Hey guys, here's part 1 of a more detailed overview of my full collection, part 2 coming soon! I plan to do more detailed and focused sections later on, but I will need a proper microscope camera set up, since those vids will need to show off the micro minerals within these fabulous pieces, some of which I wish I was able to show you in this video. Some background on myself, I am just a guy who...

    I am sooo jealous of your excellent collection. There's no monazite anywhere near me, and I've always wanted to see an example. I do have a few nice micas and barites (and a good example of rutile), but they're nothing rare. We *do* have tons of cruciform staurolite in Georgia, of course (it's the state mineral). Do you have any specimens in the borate family, like ulexite or tincal? Is there a particular focus or specialty that interests you for collecting? I know some collectors who focus on agates, for example (for cutting & polishing), or who love the metallic minerals like galena & pyrite. One woman actually collects sand samples from all over the country.

      @@briancurtis6022 Nice! Eventually when I get to my purchased bits Ill show an amazing Monazite micro I purchased thats from Italy. I have a few borates Ive purchased but never found any myself. Chambersite, peprossiite, vonsenite, yuanfuliite, and a few pieces from the Fuka mine in Japan that has a lot of rare and unique borates. I dont have a particular specialty, I like to collect everything, but I do have a knack for molybdates and tunsgates though, they tend to be my favorites. Phosphates also tend to grab my attraction, ever since my South Dakota trip.

    Wow, this is a HUGE assortment! They can't all be self-collected, can they? All the great rocks I hear about seem to be in the Western states; I'm over in Georgia, where it's mostly just quartz, granite, and clays. (Okay, a few garnets and kyanite.) Have you ever been to the big annual Tucson, AZ show?

      @@briancurtis6022 Everything Ive showed so far is self collected yes. My purchased section is one last shelf that I'll show at the end. And no I havent been sadly, no time since Im usually busy, definitley want to one day though!

      @@greywhite2903 Very cool! Theres some rare ones out there so good luck! A lot of the other Cr bearing varities aside from uvarovite only occur at one locale, as well as the Sn, Sc and Sb varities that can occur. But all the more well known ones shouldnt be too difficult

    • @coreymineralguy
      @coreymineralguy 5 дней назад

      @Yellow_guy40 Just go out and find something that catches your fancy. Some basic research can see if theres any cool minerals or fossils near where you live, and if not, any rock store will do and then pick out something you like. Dont gotta crazy like me lol, just have fun with it thats what matters
