Mary is just a teenager when she's told she's going to give birth to the Savior of the world. She's poor, not married, and probably has more questions than answers. Her response to this earth-shattering news? Joy. Here's 3 lessons about finding joy we can learn from her: 1. Find joy in relationships with other followers of Jesus. 2. Find joy by magnifying God in your everyday life. 3. Find joy ...
Honest doubts?

In Genesis 11, we find another story where humans try to take charge instead of following through with God’s plan. After a while, it’s easy to think critically of these people because of how quickly they rebel. Yet, we’re no different. God’s people again and again found themselves in a downward spiral away from God, but each event opened up a new possibility for God’s grace. In our own failures...

If you heard the story of Noah and the ark as a child, you may not have realized how intense and dark it actually is. God’s severity and kindness are both revealed. Here’s a few key takeaways from the account of Noah: God is not indifferent to our sin- it grieves him Noah provides a great model for remaining faithful when those around you don’t believe Noah held onto the promises of God in the ...
Your Brother's Keeper

The story of Cain and Abel isn’t just about a conflict between 2 brothers- it’s an example of how our decisions can change the course of our lives and future generations. When you consider all of the elements at play in Genesis 4 and 5, there’s a lot of opportunity for self-reflection. Here’s a few questions from the message to consider: 1. Are you giving God your best? Are you trusting him? 2....
Why is this world the way it is? (part 2)
Просмотров 43Месяц назад
God had a perfect design in mind for the world when He created it and one day the world will be made right again. Until then, we live with brokenness caused by the effects of choosing our own way instead of God's. From the beginning of time, God knew that we wouldn't be able to maintain his design our own and Jesus' life, death, and resurrection would be the key to returning back to God's perfe...

As we get to chapter 3 of Genesis, things start to take a turn. If you’ve ever wondered why God even allowed this tree with forbidden fruit in the garden, listen to this message. When Adam and Eve realized they had broken the agreement they had with God, they became aware of their nakedness and hid from their shame. Likewise, are you hiding from God? When we come to God with our brokenness, he ...
Your Work Matters

Whether you’re in school, a stay at home parent, or clock in and out every day, most of us spend the majority of our time each year working somehow. Maybe you’ve imagined that after life on earth as we know it, we’ll spend our time floating up on clouds in heaven and finally get a break from work. But that’s not the case! God actually created us to work from the beginning of time, it’s actually...
Are you alone?

When God created the earth and everything in it, over and over he declared it all “good.” It wasn’t until after God had created man that he said something wasn’t good: “It’s not good for the man to be alone.” Whether married, single, widowed, etc- none of us are meant to be alone. God created us to be in meaningful relationships with one another. Here’s a few questions to consider as you listen...
Feeling restless?

When God created the world, he created it for us as a home that was good, beautiful, and complete. We were meant to live with him there in an ongoing, perfect relationship. After sin entered the world, our relationship with God was fractured. Thankfully, that's not the end of the story. Jesus offers us the opportunity to come home and find the peace we were created to live in from the beginning...

Some people spend their whole lives and all their fortunes trying to find the thing that satisfies their soul but they come up short. What about the 10 commandments...Thou shall not kill?
I miss Rusty's sermons. This 2 part series was great. ❤
I thought I was saved but feel like I’m going now in my own strength
Rusty, you are special. Jason your words are filled with intentional meaning. I “stumbled upon” PBC last fall when we joined our daughter in law and son. Gods words through you both were exactly what I needed to hear, when I needed to hear it. More than once I sat through a sermon overcome with emotion. Today in my living room, listening a couple weeks late, was no different. I’m not where I need to be in Gods eyes but partly due to PBC I’m a lot closer than I ever have been. Thank you for prompting so many lessons, that are so valuable to my journey, in such a short amount of time. I love you Brother. Jeremy Brandt
We're thankful the messages have been meaningful to you!
I can’t get enough of his series. He brings the Bible to life! So grateful to have found him!
This is one of the best representations of the “good news” of the Gospel I’ve ever heard. I wish it had more Likes!!
Wonderful truth! ❤🎉
👍
I'm a sinner. I humbly go to my GOD everyday and ask forgiveness to make me more like HIM and less like me.

what a awesome presentation, God's promise is forever. Jesus sacrifice for our sins to give us ever lasting life. Thank you for making this, I just got Joel's book today , Praise Jesus.
Agreed we need to respond with the love strength & patience of The of HOLY SPIRIT who lives inside of us!!! Merry Christmas ✝️

REASONS WHY THE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH 1. You can read about it in the New Testament. (MATTHEW 16:18; ROMANS 16:16; ACTS 4:12) 2. It has no creed but the Bible, binds no name on members but Christ’s. (ACTS 11:26; l PETER 4:16) 3. Its acts of worship are patterned after New Testament examples. (JOHN 4:24; ACTS 20:7; I CORINTHIANS 16:1-2; EPHESIANS 5:19; COLOSSIANS 3:16) 4. It teaches that UNITY can be achieved on all doctrinal disputed questions. (JOHN 17:21; I CORINTHIANS 1:10; EPHESIANS 4:4-6) 5. Its future: Eternal Glory with Christ. (MATTHEW 7:14; I THESSALONIANS 4:17) YOU CAN’T BE SAVED ANY OTHER WAY

@39:40 and following: It is interesting to me that when Luke reports the genealogy of Jesus (in Chapter 3), he reckons His descent from David through Nathan (a younger brother of Solomon - perhaps named after the prophet who confronted David after his sin with Bathsheba and murdering her husband, Uriah? I wonder...), rather than through the the royal line of descent recorded for us in Kings, beginning with Solomon.
It seems that Jehoiakim may not be in the lineage to Jesus given Jeremiah 38:30. This curse may have ended the kingship line through Solomon, at least biologically (Joseph’s lineage). Maybe still a legal claim?
@@marktester5799There are only 28 verses in the 38th chapter of Jeremiah. There is no curse pronounced by Jeremiah, either on Zedekiah or the people, in Jeremiah 38 - just a list of consequences for the two courses of action (namely, surrender to the Babylonians, or resist them, remembering that Zedekiah is the puppet governor appointed by Babylon, against whom he is now in rebellion, and Jehoiachin is already in captivity in Babylon, deposed and receiving the ration). I didn't look elsewhere in Jeremiah to see which curse you might have meant. Perhaps you can clarify what you intended? What I thought of was the following: I Kings chapter 11, verses 11-13 So the LORD said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.” The above quote is from the NIV, in which a "tribe" will be given to Solomon's "son". A logical presumption is that the "son" in question is his immediate successor, Rehoboam, and the "subordinate" is Jeroboam. However, "son" could be any male lineal descendant. Does the "subordinate" have to be Jeroboam, or could it be(in some metaphorical sense) Solomon's younger brother (and _his_ descendants)? Interestingly, the Hebrew word translated here as "tribe" (transliterated as "shay'-bet") is translated as "scepter" in, among other places, Genesis ch 49 verse 10: "The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.". This deathbed blessing of Jacob/Israel to his son Judah is clearly Messianic, to my mind. Thus, it seems possible to me that the line of kingship might be rightfully reckoned through Nathan, rather than Rehoboam and Solomon, as is the case in Luke's geneaology. Whether Matthew's geneaology is proper to Joseph, and Luke's to Mary, remains unresolved in my mind; I certainly wouldn't be dogmatic, though it does seem plausible to me that might in fact be the case. What all of this means, I can't say. I just observe and ponder. Perhaps some day I will know what to make of it.
Excellent! Congratulations 💐👏👏 God bless you
So good. Thank you for the message!

What a beautiful story...our God is a God who sees us and never leaves us. Blessings all the way from Paraguay.
Two points: First is a pro tip: Search the title you want to use and see how many others are using that EXACT SAME WORDING this week. If you can't come up with a new spin, then it's pretty likely (and true in your case) that you don't have one original thought or approach in your content. Second: Matthew 25:31-46. READ IT for once. NOT ONE WORD of that says anything about what you believe. But it DOES focus on what is DONE. There are exactly no motivations other than human-heartedness to others, no requirement of "believing on Jayzuz" or anything other mental assents OR EVEN A REQUIREMENT OF FAITH.
Hi Jenna, thanks for taking the time to comment. This clip was pulled from a video we created in 2022 when we read the whole Bible as a church and created a video each week to go along with the scheduled reading. We’re familiar with Matthew 25. We’re not disagreeing that loving others is how we live out our faith. The reality is, if helping hurting people in need is the only way we can have eternal life with God, none of us will ever be good enough. We can give until we have nothing left but we’ll still struggle to meet everyone’s need. The word “righteous” appears several times in Matthew 25, and Paul explains how we’re able to be made righteous in Romans 5. Hope you have a good day!
Very encouraging
I bought the book, it should be here in a few days. I wish we had more books adding depth to the archeology of the Bible like this one. The path of the Exodus is a good example of one needed to go into more detail, this so all know Mt. Sinai is in the land of Media and not in the Sinai Peninsula.
My book just arrived and it's fabulous!
Midian but you got it,, blessings to you
Ah my American evangelical friends always a band on their stage
Thank you for sharing your powerful story!
I can't wait to get started with this ministry! So thankful our church is bringing this opportunity to us.
❤ Thank you Rusty! Thank you Josh ❤
I would work for this guy and fetch his slippers. No, I am not a golden retriever. I just wish I could go back and become a biblical Archaeologist. I am offended at so many 'Christian' Archaeologists who only have faith in the bible on Sundays!!
Excellent! I appreciated the summation that pointed to Christ and his suffering on our behalf and the promises of God that never fail.
I liked the Isaiah 16:5 quote and Pastor willing to share pulpit. 🕊🌱
