    Follow through is important for 2 main reasons: 1. It is important to maintain and maximise effort all the way through your action. So to make sure you don't "start to stop" to early you must follow through once the ball is delivered. 2. If you stop too quickly you increase the stresses on your body and therefore the chance of injury. Hope that helps.

    why is the follow through important

    I was bowling off spin to my 12 year old son in the morning today. While playing forward defence, he was rushing to the ball a bit and therefore the ball was popping up. It was feeling difficult to rectify the error. But now watching this video, I think the problem is solved....................but can you kindly explain a bit that at 2:16 in the diagram, front foot is not straight but facing in the direction of cover. Some coaches advise to keep it straight.

    Sequence should be: Watch the ball - take your head to the ball - move to the ball - keep a stable base (feet and legs still) - then hit the ball. Strength is importance so you can move with balance. Keep Aditya working on making the correct shapes. As he gets stronger he will find this easier! Good luck!

  • @hurls2009
    @hurls2009 12 лет назад

    How old is Aditya? If he is not strong enough, he will find it difficult to hold his shape while swinging the bat. Try to get him to keep his weight over his front leg and to keep his back heel from coming to far off the ground. This should help. Also - draw a small circle beside the tee you are hitting the ball (close but not too close!) Instruct Aditya to TAKE HIS HEAD STRAIGHT TO THE BALL. Once his head is moving he should then take his foot to the circle and then play the shot.

    I followed this drill to rectify my son Aaditya's front foot play. But he is not able to move towards the ball in a straight line and mostly he end up a bit away from the ball that creates a gap between bat and pad. And he looses a bit of control and balance. Could anybody suggests something to rectify this ? Thanks.

    is this in the adelaide oval indoor nets?

    Good exercise. The diameter of the yellow tee bases help prevent the batsman from placing his front foot too close to the line of the ball

    @hurls2009 then dude by taking such a large step would't u be training your muscle memory to take such a large step for all front foot attacks?

  • @r3fuse

    @luicoco1458 if there is no fielders on the leg side u would.. its just a basic batting drill dude

  • @luicoco1458
    @luicoco1458 14 лет назад

    the shot on the leg side is useless, not worth it, u mite as well play an early sweep shot, no ones going to charge up and play a leg side drive

    @dravidfannumber1 Put the middle cone in line with middle stump other cones about 20cms to the right and 15cms to the left of the middle cone. Use the same method as in the video to figure out how far away from the cones you stand. Start level with the cones and then take a big step back. This should be the right distance for you.

    @saphalee Yes it is big but we find that it helps to practice taking a big stride so that you can make ANY sort of stride once you start playing against a moving ball. It has a lot to do with "muscle memory" - training the muscles to make particular movements almost as a reflex. Thanks for the comment! You might want to check out dcpactivate.blogspot.com for more articles and drills from myself and the guys at Activate Cricket Coaching. Cheers JH
