Some of those were special mission aircraft, a couple of them were Air Guard sponsored, so their type was determined by what their ANG squadron flew. The others, not so much the airframe, but the duty station.
You're assigned to either a fast jet or multi engine; you put in your top three preferences but no guarantee what you get. Its based on current operational needs.
After flying T6s (Phase 2 of UPT), students select Tracks ( e.g T38 (Fighter/Bomber), T1 (Heavies) etc) which determine the aircraft group they will specialize in. So to answer your question, yeah they somewhat have an idea, preferences are considered but from my knowledge it mostly depends on their class ranking upon graduation and aircraft availability, in other words, needs of Air Force, that ultimately determine what they will fly.
@geremi9656 After basic training they'll be graded and assigned to either fast jet or multi engine aircraft. So they have some sort of idea of what aircraft they get at drop night
I see so many hating on the cargo planes, like man it’s a plane, it can fly, it’s in the air. it’s not supersonic but it’s super epic
Exactly how I see it. And they all play a role.
what are these guys stoked about? is flying a transport plane like the easiest safest gig or something?

Lol so this is the airbase where they train the people piloting planes to refuel or carry equipment and personnel
Lots of them are electronic warfare and there was 1 gunship
Poor Koki ast 23:30 has no idea what he'll be flying. :P
36:23 sigara içme hahahaha

Imagine getting AC-130
Personally I love the c-130 ig it’s the person
Ac-130*
lol nobody is stoked to fly a C17
I’d be pissed.
"snub-nosed C-5"
I mean it's cooler than the jet you fly
Man could all the family memebers shut the fuck up when the presentation started how disrespectful. It sounds like a high school lunch room.
So do you get to choose your plane? Or is it a roulette.
i think you are assigned one depending on your performance

This video has powerful energy, my ipad recharges itself
Do they know ahead of time if they are going as a fighter pilot? I imagine training would be very different for an f15 vs c17 pilots

Did they get a t6, do they have to go back to training?
They become a First Assignment Instructor Pilot
They have to get trained as an instructor before actually teaching students.
But if you what a fighter jet and you get a C17 or T6 is depressing no ?
