Today is her birthday, Oct 4. This is from the mid 90s when I first heard about her so I felt like watching it again today. I understand and appreciate her and her work so much more now that I'm older. Wish I could go in a time machine back to this time and see her, but this is the closest to that 🙂
This brings back memories...I was 13 and the film of Interview with the Vampire had just come out. That was how I first heard about Anne Rice. I remember when this book came out shortly after and seeing her on tv and in magazines in her ornate gothic outfits like this one.
What the hell? Did they just pick some random person off the street to conduct this "interview"? She sounds like she has zero qualifications or experience. Thankfully at least the guys in the band were quite articulate. Otherwise this would have been a complete disaster.
OMG 1989. I started getting into standup in fall of 1994, and first worked with Simon at The Pilot in Feb of 1995, and later met Mike and Derek at Yuk’s Yonge & Eglinton late 1995. Amazing how smooth they were then compared to this. Very cool time capsule vid!
Oh wow what memories this brings back... Way back in my early 20s falling in love with her stories and gothic subculture in general. Memnoch was such a good read it really began to shape the way i thought of God and similar big questions.
Notice how 1 reviewer is marvelling about IMAX. That's because it was ne technology at the time. We should also note that SW: Ep 6 came out in 1981. Luc is reviewing its re-release in 1997. Also, he talks about an additional documentary with the tape of High Noon. This was before the days of DVDs & "Special Features". Often they included a 2nd tape.
Thank you so much for posting this! She has such grace with all of these questions... way ahead of her time to state "I write with a bisexual mind" and stating she's honoured that people think the books are supporting gay culture. I love her so much!

That is not Simon Rakoff, it is Jeff Bradley.
mark looks tired
He looks like he wants to fall asleep already.
I love how she is so much open about her personal struggles and questions about life.
Fast forward to 2021, who would have thought that Blas Elias was going to be such a "FILF"...bah ha ha ha! He aged with grace, papacito!!!!
Where is Barbara Swanson? Is she still working?
Her work is awesome! In her books, I love how she explains her own views on how vampires perceive the world when they gain immortality.
