Maybe a polyacrylic would not change the wood color. Next time, you might try doing a light wash before sealing. That is currently what I am doing with 2 dressers that I am refiinishing.

I realize this video is old so this may not matter, but the color conch (conk) is probably named for the large pink/peach conch shells like they had in Key West. Oh y Goodness! I am so, so happy to see you! I have always been a crafter and polymer clay is one of my favorite mediums because it is so versatile. You did a wonderful job and I am planning on replicating the earrings :)

Looks like the top was a solid piece of pine , pine has a lovely warm glow you may not know but house hold sodium hyper chlorite is only 0.5% to get an effect like American white oak would be very hard I would try 13% bleach ( try a roof cleaning or garden centre I buy mine from Mole valley in the Uk ) do not mix with washing up liquid ( chlorine gas ) rather than wax have you thought of a clear coat like a matt varnish pine does absorb colour Easley if you change your mind I would tray with the blue shade a lovely rose wood or other dark wood colour dye than try a matt varnish
