I never drink and drive. Hence, my answer always has been and will be, "Officer, I haven't been drinking; I don't drink." Regarding FST's, my answer will be, "I am refusing these tests based on my 5th amendment rights. Those tests are too subjective and unreliable anyway. If you have a roadside breathalyzer test, I am willing to submit to that."

My ex-wife developed (very) late onset schizophrenia in her mid to late forties which to this day is relatively untreated. About five years of trying to get her to help herself left me at my wits end & we got divorced which on some level she accepted and understood. I stay in contact with her because of our son. Glad you included the caveat about both parties needing to be willing to work on a marriage but in my case I’d say that both need to be ABLE to work on it.

My favorite story told to me from a trustworthy & long time sober friend who was pulled over for ‘weaving slightly’. After the initial banter about being asked if he know why you’ve been pulled over and where are you coming from/going to, the cop asked, “Have you been drinking tonight?” “No sir.” Cop: “Then why am I smelling alcohol coming from you?” “Damned if I know!” After a brief stare off & checking his spotless license etc, the cop just told him to have a good evening & be careful driving. It really sucks that cops can lie to you since it puts the onus of knowing the law on drivers rather than being able to trust the very people whose business it is to know the law and are not serving the public by misinforming them.

There is never enough of an in depth investigation in cases like this; it’s like an entire calculated martyr ritual that the industry does while all are guilty. People do not really care about the actual problem and solving it; they are just bullying diddy and making into an example when in reality it should be more than just him being investigated. If it was really to help people majority of Hollywood would be completely permanently dismantled and put in jail. While countries would be out in jail if this was actually investigated properly and everyone persecuted correctly. One thing I would add to this. I would refuse the BAC machine at the station, and insist on a blood draw. That usually takes a fair amount of time, during which your BAC, if you had been drinking, will slowly go down, possibly below 0.08, which will help your case.
