When the shark ticklers were deployed on deep pelagic line fishing lines, external pressure compressed the unit to such an extent that the tightening collar was loosened. When sharks or fish struggled after being caught, this led to ~10% of the ticklers being lost for each set. Our solution for this generation of ticklers was to drill holes in the collar and an external fitting and tightly conn...
Modification of Shark Tickler design 2.0
Просмотров 129 месяцев назад
This modification will prevent the problem first observed in our discovery paper that under high pressure, the collar compressing the O-ring loosens from the high external pressure compressing the O-ring further. Then, when a fish or shark is caught and struggling, the collar can become spun all the way off. This simple kludge prevents unscrewing. Demonstration of the simple modification by my ...

It's also demonstrated that there are no straight lines for cables or supports... 🧐

I don't understand your comment. If you mean that there should be more stuff rigidly holding cables etc in place, we are limited by FAA rules to <4lb weight. Also, no problems to any detectors during the flight;..Even on impact, only 1 rigid spar was broken, with no data loss....but maybe I am misunderstanding you?

@@iylevine What I mean is that you are probably using a camera with a "fisheye" type lens that distorts the image. I don't think the cables and brackets that also have a curvature in the video are curved instead of straight. I don't know if my comment is a little clearer now. Greetings.

@@ToniBorras Not only clearer, but good eye on your part. Once one is above 50,000 ft (we got up to 86,000 ft) the curvature is said to be visible, but I don't know how much of the apparent curvature in this video is actually seeing that, versus optical/psychological effects. Cheers, Ilan

It would be nice if we had some basic telemetry info. Also, the balloon bursts around 03:19, not at 11:52.

Sorry, 11:52 was real clock time as recorded on GoPro. 3:11 is the amount of time in minutes and seconds after the start of the fifth potion of video (GoPro breaks up video into 4Gb chunks) Thanks for your input! We do have telemetry from the Eagle flight computer, but I did not have that dowloaded when I posted the videos. What specifically do you want?

Einstein's gravity calculation is correct and MOND is disproved from the Bullet Cluster. The truth is in the middle. My hypothesis that Dark Matter is not a WIMP, but maybe is a deformation of space-time by which the curvature of space-time ALONE is the cause of the gravitational effect. Gravity is the consequence of the curvature of space-time. It may be possible that the structure of space-time itself could be warped without the presence of mass. Space-time has been shown to react like a fabric by warping, twisting, and propagating independent of mass. These properties have been proven with observations of gravitational lensing, frame dragging, and now gravitational waves. Fabrics can be stretched, pressured, and/or heated to the point of deformation. Such extreme conditions were all present during inflation, so it is plausible that space-time’s elastic nature could have hit its yield point and permanently deformed. Therefore, if gravity is the consequence of the warping of space-time, and fabrics can be permanently deformed, then a deformation could create a gravitational effect independent of mass. DM could be a microscopic black holes with no mass at the center, so they wouldn't lose their strength via Hawking Radiation. Prediction: Spacetime's elastic property hits a yield point, so only that part of geodesic's "stretch marks" would remain after inflation stopped. These steep gravitational wells would not follow the inverse square law. They would be steep tiny gravity wells.
