During the 1940's the garden was filled in & the land put back to pasture land. In the 2000's the gardens were rediscovered & excavated to bring them back to their former glory

Really nice video Martin, the bus to minehead from Taunton is whilst not the most straight route very pretty so not surprised the views from the steam train are so beautiful. I've been meaning to ride this train for a while now - pushes it up list of things to do 😊
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Hi Jessie. I'd been meaning to do this trip for a long time so it was nice to eventually do it. It's definitely worth the money I think. I'm just about to watch your Weymouth video. 😊😊
Lovely, the beautiful old steam chuff chuffs. Great choice of video Martin bringing the past back to life and showing the well cared for engine and carriages. They looked like the old 1960s British rail stock which many steam railways use. The locomotive chuffed and puffed, so that you didn't have to 😊
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 Thanks. Yes I did like hearing the chuff chuff sounds as well. Sounds like a proper old train. It was a lovely ride. 😊😊
This was a very atmospheric way of showing this walk, always surprised by how few people show off poet's walk!
@@JessesGrandDaysOut Thanks Jessie. I've been wanting to do this sort of vidro for a while now & thought that the walk from the harbour to the pier was ideal. Poets walk is lovely any time of the year. I love the way the trees grow to make a sort of tunnel. 😊😊
omg i saw you there! i was the bunny girl with the guy dressed in a suit ! x
@@XXdestiny Excellent. This was my first comic con & won't be my last. We were in Weston-super-Mare just to have a walk along the seafront when I noticed all these Star Wars & Doctor Who characters & decided on the spur of the moment to go in. We really enjoyed it & I will take my proper camera for the next one in November. 😊😊
All the elements of cinematic capture were displayed and came together with an unusual but almost haunting atmosphere. The camera panning, elevation and what looked like an almost dual speed slow motion walking with real time surroundings. Absolutely amazed at how you made this work and it did beautifully, outstanding work Martin 👏
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 Thanks a lot. Much appreciated. I've been wanting to try this technique for a while now. 😊😊
That was sweet Martin - a lovely walk and beautifully filmed. It almost felt gothic. All the best. Mark

I didn't realise this was held in the winter garden. I've only ever been to the London Comic Con - the crowds there completely scared me off going to another but the costumes must take the cosplayers ages!
@@JessesGrandDaysOut To be honest we only went to Weston to have a walk along the front when I saw all these characters dressed up & decided to go in. We loved it even though we're not really into Star Wars or Doctor Who. Will be going back to the next one in November. 😊😊

@@yeehaw8080 This was my first Comic Con & it won't be my last.😊😊
What a great display and turnout of the characters from yesteryear. I remember all of them and the shows, which brought back memories of the dalek toy that I had when i was about 8 years old. Great memories and entertainment from a time that will never be again. Colin Baker i wouldn't have recognised straight away but Wendy Padbury still looks great all these years on. Thanks for showing this gathering and nice to see that its all still alive.
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 It was a great show. Something I'd never done before. I'm not that clued up on actors so I didn't know that many but I did remember Wendy Padbury when I saw the black & white pics of her from the 1960,s. There were quite a few people dressed up but I didn't have a clue who they were trying to look like. The guy from The Goonies was great & it was amazing to meet the voice behind Zippy on Rainbow. 😊😊
Nice burr in the accent, accompanied by Supertramp Mr Bluesky😊 i grew up in east Devon 30+yrs ago but we use to pop over the Lyme to see friends, take the Labs for walks so this a real nice nostalgic post so thx❤
Use to find arrival of so many visitors a nightmare living in Sidmouth.People parked in front of our garage so we could'nt get car ou t whole wknd, lot of stealing from shops and drunken louts in streets. All for Festivals but needs policing these days 😮
Yeah it must be quite an ordeal dealing with all the extra visitors. We've only visited the festival in the day & never saw any trouble just happy people enjoying themselves but night time would be different.
Who is the Wheel house choir director, I love her funky infectious and loving style...OMG, so love her work! Who is that?!?!?!?

Spent my childhood holidays in Lyme, (many summers), while my parents buggered off somewhere else and left me in the fantastic care of the Taylors who lived at Hatchet, a beautiful house right beside the river Lym. (Never call it a brook or stream!) Wonderful memories from '60's Lyme. ❤
@@user-zo4hq5bp3m It is a lovely place. We were back in Lyme Regis just a few days ago as we are on holiday down that way. Mainly going yo Sidmouth though for the folk festival. Video to follow. 😊😊👍👍
You Poms sure love death.
I've been to the Highwayman quite a few times. It is a magnificent piece of theatre. Well worth a visit the atmosphere is wonderful. Not sure why the video has 'horror film' soundtrack. It doesn't portray the feel of the place at all.

@@NorthDevonModelSociety It is a bizarre place but I loved it. 😊😊
That has to be the strangest pub i have ever seen [ and i have seen a lot of pubs ]
What an amazing place! So much colourful detail and an immediate step back into the past. I haven't been to any pubs for many years but I would definitely drink in this one. So good to see that you had an unimpeded walk around and was able to capture the interior in its full splendour.
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 Thanks. The owners very kindly let me film what I liked. It really is a very strange building . As soon as I went in I knew there would be a "ghost" lol
I went today. What a fantastic place, so sad they are closing down
@@fodrocksuk.forestofdeanroc5686 Yeah we were gutted as well. It's an incredible place. I'm glad i filmed it . 😊😊
Amazing place, it had a far away tropical island look and feel about it. Great camera work bringing lots of detail to the screen but poor Robinson was missed, because he was leaving Friday.
@@mmwaashumslowww7167 🤣🤣 Thanks. It was the first time I had been here. It's a great waterfall & i wanted to try out the slo-motion feature on my camera. 👍👍
I grew up in Topsham in the 1960s and knew every inch of the alleyways and courts. Some of the big houses were certainly posh but there was plenty of rundown housing in a terrible state and what was really slums. There were derelict sale lofts and warehouses by the river, these are all expensive houses and flats now. Everything now looks freshly painted and well maintained, the streets look narrower and Fore Street used to be two way but it's all instantly recognisable. The shops are all different and there's far fewer pubs than when I started my drinking career. Who remembers The King's Head, The Malt Scoop, The London and South Western, The Exeter Inn? You didn't show The Bridge Inn, possibly the best pub in the country and still going strong.
@@johnrubber1144 Great info about Topsham. This was my first visit & I thought it was a lovely little place with quaint narrow streets. 😊😊
Beautiful gardens, it's a shame you filmed so much of yourself.
@@lideabarker8161 I'm actually planning on going back there soon to film a "virtual tour" video so you won't see me at all. The camera will be looking forward only. The owners only announced the other day that the gardens will close for good in September.

This is one heck of a find Martin, so beautiful and secluded with bird songs galore. A cool retreat for a hot day and shaded well to avoid the sun. Stunning colours and plant varieties and has been well worth the journey to see and film it. 10 out of 10 for this episode 👍

Thats one large area of marsh, soggy at anytime. You can never tell what a sunset will be like unless its going to be a clear evening. That last segment was good, a quiet village with a warm glow of lighting. Sure beats living in a town.
It is a fascinating place in any weather. Very eerie. Your right about the sunset. You just can't tell until the last minute wether it's going to be a good one. Porlock village is a favourite of ours. Very traditional. I read somewhere that it had the highest percentage of older people living there than anywhere else in the country. 😊😊
Very hectic ,just watched this lovely video . I love berry head but only tend to go winter 🥶 time 🕰️ as not so packed, used have parking permit for the car park 🅿️. The cave you found was at the end of my Torquay at night video . Haven’t been to cave for years ,look like with the ladders 🪜 a lot go there now . I do love Brixham ,and something to try if you have not already is ferry ⛴️ to Torquay and walk back across cliffs to Brixham , thoo ferry used be cheap but now £6 single each . Thanks a lot Debs. I thought the cave was amazing. The Napoleon soldiers drawings sounds interesting. It sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment. Lots of great adventures for you. 😊😊
You seem to like Brixham and many do. Certainly my favourite over Paignton and Torquay. Not bad weather for filming and some wind will help you stay cooler for all the hilly climbs. The marina is beautiful and I've visited many times.
Yeah we do like Brixham. Not so keen on Torquay &Paignton. It was incredibly windy up on Berry Head & the cave was interesting. 😊😊
It all looks so familiar! Thanks for making this!
We had some great holidays there as kids. 😊😊

Hi Bill I'm not a believer in the paranormal but this did give me goose pimples when I first saw it. I couldn't think for the life of me what it would be but after watching it over & over I now know what it is. If you look at the sky in the shot you can see a seagull fly quickly across the sky. I think it's the seagulls shadow moving along the ground. We've got into the habit of watching your daily video every evening just before we go to bed. We can't wait to come back to Teignmouth again. My wife's mum & dad stayed at that Devon Valley holiday place. It's a shame it's closed now as the views across the estuary are amazing. 😊
Lots of colours on show with these nice buildings.I like these virtual tours, as it feels like I am trundling along these side streets sat in my sofa. 👍
I quite like watching virtual walk videos as well. Tenby is great for this sort of video with all its narrow alleyways. The colorful houses are nice as well. 😊😊
Thank you Martin. Great video of one of my favourite estuaries. Years ago when I was fit, I would walk all the way from Salcombe to Bolt Head at the headland. In more recent times I have driven to the National Trust place called Overbecks and park on the lane outside. From there I would continue on foot along the coastal path to Bolt Head. By the way, I've been meaning to ask where you come from. My family are from Bath and your accent sounds like my family in Twerton, Bath.
Hi Adrian. Thanks for watching. Salcombe is a very beautiful place & I with I could of had more time there. I'm from East Bristol so not too far from Twerton. I also have family in Bath . Some of them sound common like Mr & others talk more posh. Lol. 😊😊
My first thought was a bigcat. But then, it looks almost ghostly. Boring answer... Almost looks like the shadow of a plane or something passing Infront of the sun. Great capture, whatever it may be.
Thanks Olly. Hope you are all good. 😊
That was something else Martin, there are channels on RUclips like Slapped Ham, Chills and That's Impossible to name a few that I sub to and watch regularly. They regularly show things like this, usually clips sent in by viewers of Cryptids, Shape Shifters Ghostly Anomalies etc. That was no dog or big black cat to move like that, so congratulations on capturing your first paranormal entity.
Thanks. I must admit i was shocked that i had captured something explained on camera. Whatever it was it moved very quickly.
Weird...just weird
It was mate. It was only when i was editing this clip that i noticed it. It was moving very fast.
Amazing memories. I went there on a summer holiday in 1967 when I was nine. That Porky pig paper eater was there then. A brilliant invention to keep the camp tidy, it had a vacuum motor inside which sucked in any litter. The kids would scour the camp looking for bits of paper to feed it.
We did the same. Looking for something to put into the pigs mouth to watch it get sucked in. I loved the monorail as well. It looked so futuristic. 😊😊
Salcombe is a place that I've not been to and it does look quite interesting. Plenty of narrows to walk through and steps to keep you fit. I especially like the wooded area down by the water but it seems that you need to be fit to explore that area. Thanks for showing this with all your effort, so that i don't have to because it would finish me off for sure. At least you will be glad that you done it while you can.
Thanks. I think that walk nearly finished me off especially all those steps. They went on & on. I was well out of breath. It is a nice place but it's miles from anywhere which some people who live there might prefer. I love hunting out the little narrow streets & alleyways that are easily missed. 😊😊
The death Angel is put there to put demonic influence into ppls lives! Someone even died only a few yards from it.
That was a hot summer in 2003 and it looked a fun way to keep cool.
It was mate. I remember being down Weymouth & it was over 30° & it was very busy. This holiday in St Ives wasn't as nice though. Just average temperatures. The boat race was fun to see though. 😊😊

I love these deserted streets and alleyways walkabouts and it helps to absorb more of the details. Your boots were made for walking then Martin? That soundtrack of footsteps and ambient chillout music was superb and fitted the video brilliantly.
