This performance is close to my heart from the '70s. I was drawn to the music of Kevin Ayers then and now!

I had the luxury of seeing Kevin live several times and each time it was a luxury. "Luxury" is a word which I have just come up with within the context of this comment in describing Kevin's gigs. I hope he would approve of its use. I missed him when he died

This little clip (when repackaged for the US market in the late 70s) was my introduction to Mr. Ayers. Only able to catch a live show once - didn't get to my part of the US much. Good thing for me was: the way my tastes ran back then, if the piano didn't explode, I probably wouldn't have given him a second listen.

I saw Ayers perform this in Canterbury around 1971. He was accompanied by an unknown teenager called Mike Oldfield, who played staring at the floor throughout.

Not as classy as cell-phones or internet or smoke signals .... Sin Embargo .... Understood by Friends & Neighbors separated by miles of Chihuahua Desert

Was an article a couple months back in BB SENTINEL about the last adoberos in Ojinaga/Presidio/Marfa ..... Last week (?) was an article about the outrageous Tax Appraisals on adobe structures/houses in Presidio County ...... SHAME

Other bag colors had OTHER msgs. .... Blue bags indicated potable water available to share .... Green bags (if you could find them) indicated there was at least a little food to share .... Brown bags indicated that warmth/fire was available in cold weather .... Black bags pretty much declared "NO FIREARMS WELCOME"

Perdóneme, por favor. One more comment about Plastic Bags .... About 2005-2007 when renting housing in Ruidosa and Alpine ... I met several interesting folks from around the USA who came into the Big Bend then, like me, found the challenges beyond our mettle. Point is --- We readily adopted a simple signal system utilizing plastic bags to inform visitors trying to find us on those obscure 5-acre plots of desert .... A yellow bag tied to a post at a fence-entry path/trail indicated the turnoff .... A white bag tied next to the yellow meant "I'm home -- Come on in" .... Pretty sure CBP figured it out (?)

re: PLASTIC BAGS OF MARFA .... This video conjured up memories from 30+ years ago when I sighed and shed tears when I was trekking from Presidio upriver to Ruidosa ... I probably didn't see more than 15-20 plastic bags dangling from trees, fences, cacti, etc but my heart hurt to see that even in the "wilderness" our consumer-based society (and WE, the consumers) were mindlessly discarding our trash. Your video, however, today actually made me smile a bit .... Plastic bags from the dollar stores & groceries are pretty much expected anymore --- Simply a new sort of desert landscaping (?) Keep Smiling, folks !
