      Thanks Dale! I actually bought mine from a maker on Etsy. If you search for a "bevel grinding jig" there are many options. There are also simple ways to make them (DIY) if you want to try it. If not, there are many good options. Let me know if you find something that works!

    Great knife... Superb video.♥️ Which grade of material used for making this knife?

    • @ginhouseworkshop2074
      @ginhouseworkshop2074 3 года назад

      Thank you! This knife was made from O1 tool steel. It is easy to work with and heat treat, and can become very hard. It does rust, so it needs to be cared for, and will create a patina over time.

      @@ginhouseworkshop2074 Woh...That's great. I think the oil used for dipping is canola oil right?

    • @ginhouseworkshop2074
      @ginhouseworkshop2074 3 года назад

      I used a basic vegetable oil for this quench. Canola would work fine. They are cheap, and for this type of steel they are fine! Also, it smells much better than industrial quench oils during the process. :)

    Hey there, GREAT JOB ,MAN. That knife awesome. I always want one like.. How much do you sale them for.. they look like the knives they use in Asian fish market in Tokyo Japan. As they cut up the fish. Make me one.. Thank you hit me up.. ASAP

      Thank you! I currently have a backlog of orders and projects for this channel, but the best way to get in touch with me is through the contact form on my website: www.ginhouseworkshop.com. Meanwhile, do some searches for a "deba knife" online. This is the classic Japanese knife to break down fish. I will try to add something like that to this channel also. Thanks again!

    Can you post a link or info on the knife sharpener you used?

    • @ginhouseworkshop2074
      @ginhouseworkshop2074 3 года назад

      Hi there! This is a Wicked Edge sharpening system. You can find a number of their models here: wickededgeusa.com/ It is a very expensive system, but it is the easiest way to stone-sharpen both edges of the knife at the same time. I prefer it on shorter blades, however. For longer kitchen knives, there are some other systems that work really well also.

    Nice job, can I ask why do you put it in the Acid

    • @ginhouseworkshop2074
      @ginhouseworkshop2074 3 года назад

      Thanks! This knife is made of O1 carbon steel, which rusts easily. Acid etching is primarily for the look, it gives the knife a darker, more aggressive look (there are many ways to make custom styles and designs this way). It also has the added benefit of building a patina (blue rust layer) on the blade, which helps prevent red (bad) rust from forming.
