Really the reason for the consistency is because at its core, RGG have been making games like they're PS2 games for years. Re-using assets and code well-into the HD and Ultra HD eras would solve maybe 30% of modern game companies problems. Especially when you consider most games on the N64 made by Nintendo just were built off the back of Ocarina of Time in some way that you'll basically _always_ find some leftover OOT code in there somewhere.

The subtle changes in kamurocho is so powerful, because I’ve played all the mainline games including judgement, and I STILL don’t know the map by heart.

I couldn't get so far into it, the amount of imperialist Japanese propaganda was too much for me to deal with. The game is visually absolutely stunning but the imagery of the rising sun is not what I rock with and is based off a lot of trauma within the Asian diaspora. I hope the sequel tones this down.

Somehow I missed out on this game when it came out but I just got the HD version on sale to play on my steam deck for the first time after hearing about the second game, Im very excited.

The only thing in this game that I don't like is the Blockhead puzzles. They're insanely frustrating.

Funny how you posted this 2 days before they announced a new IP and Virtua Fighter 6. Also when they said that they wanted Yakuza/Like a Dragon to be a yearly franchise I was a bit concerned but between February 2023 and February 2025 we got Ishin Kiwami, Kiryu Gaiden, Infinite Greed and Majima Gaiden. RGG is built different.

I’m interested in playing this game before the sequel comes! Should I play it on my ps5 or my switch? The ps5 looks to be higher def for me but some have told me the switch having more fluid ways to utilize the brush makes things more satisfying

Every game they make is at least a 9/10, so I don't know how they do it. I haven't played Yakuza 7 yet though so not sure if the turn based combat is any good.

I think the idea that Kamurocho is the same each time is a little more nuanced than everyone says it is, because Kamurocho is basically a character in the same way that Kiryu is. Like, yes they're the literal same entities that they were in the previous entry, but they are both cumulatively impacted by the events of previous entries and are therefore always evolving. In Kiryu's case, this is reflected in his decisions, demeanor, and mindset, which have now been shaped by what's happened before. In Kamurocho, the city and its citizens are shaped in a more physical way (buildings no longer being there and new ones in their places, shops changing hands, new shops existing, etc.), although the people who make up the city are also reflective of how Kamurocho is continuing to evolve alongside Kiryu, and often as a direct result of his actions in previous entries. It really is the perfect setting for a series like this. I consider Kiryu and Kamurocho to be linked in the same way that Batman and Gotham City are. Edit: I literally paused the video around 9:02 to write this comment, and then pressed play and heard you basically say the same thing lmao. My bad.

I Never thought we would ever get a true attempt at a sequel to Okami with the some of the orginal people. 😂 so happy! I didn't play it till it came on the Wii. Back then I only had nintendo and sega systems.
