I also live in a desert climate where temps can rise to 120 in the summer. I want to get this for my dogs to supplement the morning/evening walks in the summer so they don't have to go so long without using the bathroom. Hows the smell when its in the heat? Do you water it? How often do you change it out?
Hello! Yep that’s exactly why we got our Fresh Patch too. Mine doesn’t cause urine smell in the heat and I don’t water mine. It’s suggested that we change the lawns every 4 weeks, but we didn’t change ours for 2-3 months. I also set up the area with walls so that my male chihuahua can pee on the wall. After a month or so, the lawn color changes to yellow (aka the lawn dies), but we don’t mind a dead lawn in the patio, as long as the fogs can pee fine haha. We use it like twice a day in between walks, so the urine has dried up by the time the dog goes next. It still works great and doesn’t smell. I intend to change the lawns every 2-3 months!
@@Dooboomory Woah one patch lasts you 2-3 mos? lol. That's cool! I also intend to use it for in between walks. I have a 12lb yorkie and a 25lb poodle mix, so hopefully ours can stay useable for 2-3 mos... or hopefully one month at least. Do you keep yours under the shade?
@@noelleticman3475 I had mine both in a shaded patio + a well sunlit patio! And nope I didn’t water the grass. At first it’s a living grass, and the grass dies pretty quickly but by then our dogs got trained enough to register it as a potty area! I’ve heard mixed reviews about it working or not, but it moved the needle for my super picky, old, chihuahua dog, so I’m a fan!
