      you will eventually wear out your Cartlidge and need a hip replacement. But because the hip is misaligned, you hip replacement may require this surgery anyway to get proper alignment. I've had both my hips done with this procedure. 1 still good/ok and the other needed a hip replacement.

    Your interview with Dr. Weller, your hand doctor, was not only helpful but very informative. I am searching for a new hand doctor in the Germantown or Memphis TN area. Dr. Mauck, a wonderful hand surgeon, who formerly was a hand doctor with Campbell’s Clinic, did hand surgery on my right hand. I have chronic arthritis in my hands, so badly that Dr. Mauck had to replace the knuckle on my right hand, right below my middle finger. The surgery was a huge success. That all being said, Dr. Weller sounds like a good, compassionate hand doctor and one that I might book an appointment with now since I am having issues with my left hand and Dr. Mauck is no longer with us. Your podcast definitely encouraged me to see Dr. Weller. Thank you for an excellent podcast interview with Dr. Weller. Cindy

    Why only for young males? Back in 2013, when I was 58 I went to HSS in NYC to have a hip resurfacing procedure on my right leg, experiencing no complications, with a very rapped recovery. After 10 years I'm still very very pleased with the results. A recent follow up blood test shows (after 10 years) that I have almost no ions in my blood (doctor was impressed), and the hip is still functioning with no issues, again I live a relatively active life (running, hiking, biking, kayaking, etc.). My left leg has now developed singnificant osteoarthritis, which is not a surprise to me, I knew that would eventually happen. I'm now 68 and still very active, so I'd like to understand why I might no loner be a candidate for the hip resurfacing procedure? Any information would be greatly appreciate.

      I am now 62 had my BHR in Belgium 20 years ago still going strong knock on wood! Now my other him is starting to give me pain but I have heard that many doctors do not like hip resurfacing I live in Canada.

    • @FreeVoice621
      @FreeVoice621 Год назад

      Like you, my BHR is still going strong. I'm now 68 and need my left hip fixed and would like to use the BHR, however I'm told this is not for anyone over 65. My understanding (I might be wrong) is that the bones after 65 do not make this procedure appropriate. I don't understand this reasoning because resurfacing actually preserves more bone than THR. To your question about why doctors might not like resurfacing, I personally believe (after consulting doctors) that because the procure is more complicate, many doctors simply are not able to "successfully" perform the surgery. @@toddkern7397

    • @emilyciampi4089

      No, there's nothing to preserve if the hip has been replaced. You'd need to have the hip replacement revised or done again.

    Hey that's a great story and one that inspires me! I had both hips replaced last year - 6 months ago. I am still limping on my left side. Is that normal? I am still unsure what movements I can do. My surgeon has told me that running, lunging and squats are prohibited and not good for the new hips.

    i had me left hip replaced about 5 years ago, I'm playing ball hockey competitively and it feels good, my right hip is hurting now and looking into a double replacement, I have had no issues playing ball hockey, the hip replacement gave me my sport back unfortunately i have to do the other side now, highly recommend it and don't worry you will be able to do the same things as before just maybe a little slower.

    What about Charcot in children? I have 2 in-laws who have Charcot. 1 of which has two knees that are deformed and really swollen, the other has a screw on her foot that has not healed. Their only options are amputation... is that really it? Were they just diagnosed too late? 😞 13 years old and a 17 year old.
