Hey mate, instead of using brackets,look up "tent rope tensionners". They work awesome! You need to put wood inserts in.Look up on RUclips the work of 'Le bûcheron de la mer'. He uses them.
Great video! I very much agree with the no sharp edges thing by the way... I see lots of wood handplanes on IG that have pointed tails and I try to suggest rounding them off so no one gets hurt hahaha.
