After $500M Exit: “My Vision Is Forever Unfinished"
Three years ago, Scott Wolfe sold his company, Levelset, for half a billion dollars.
Excited and relieved at first, he soon found himself deeply frustrated with the reality that his vision for the business would now never be realized.
Scott is a natural creative who sees building a business as an artistic endeavor. It was this intrinsic need to create that sustained him through the grueling journey of building his business.
Post-exit, he misses being driven by that vision and working alongside his exceptional, organically built team-one he feels can never be re-created.
In this conversation, we explore the pros and cons of starting a sequel, the paradox of purpose, being a true “hedgehog,” th...

David Rodnitzky. He's a truly unique kind of exited founder, and for a good reason. He didn't just sell his company once, but three times. The first sale nine years ago was for $65M to a publicly traded company. Then he bought it back for $45M, only to sell the same company again twice over the next seven years. A few years after his first sale, David penned a deeply insightful article on what ...

    From the moment this couple got married you could see it splattered over Mimi’s face she was not happy. She did not love Alex, it always felt and looked so forced to me. The dancing, the conversations, their videos, hell even their travels together. how they looked at each other never seemed genuine…. So im not surprised she is here over 10 or more years later talking and saying all of this nonsense. Mimi, stop trying to take away a good loving working marriage that is 100% possible just because you wasted your time and yours did not work out.

    This is incredible. As an entrepeneur who is on a “soulsearching” quest, this is super helpful. Thinking of the “buckets” of post-sale potential “work” or more hopefully “ikigai” is so interesting. As a physician founder, post company sale work could be patient care, but the potential to help other healthcare founders as an angel is impossible to ignore. Especially given our healthcare system in 2023 continues to be the lowest value highest cost healthcare system in the world. Getting “what’s in my brain” out to patients with regard to lifestyle support, education and behavior change has been my passion for the past decade at Preventscripts. Your idea is very intriguing to me? Physician burnout being at all time high has led to docs creating health content on you tube/tiktok/insta/substack at unprecedented levels. Yet we haven’t really made a dent in MetX and related chronic conditions. Its infuriating. Thank you for sharing your story!

    Keeping God at the center of your marriage is the only way any marriage can survive. There’s a real issue in society where that belief and application is radical or wrong. Trust it isn’t. Find truth and direction from the Bible and Bible only. I rebuke the concept of divorce in Jesus name.

    Amazing story and amazing exit. Interesting that it was majority stock .. went up fast (bubble time) and has since fallen fast .. interesting question would have been ‘did you maximize your exit? If you didn’t sell at the top, how does that feel? .. my view is if you achieve your number you’re ok / happy. We have had 6 years post exit, giving to family is simple and easy enough via trusts etc .. friends different ball game

    Making money/having an 'important role', working with great people can be fulfilling.. But I no longer want it to get in the way of the other things that I ultimately value more highly. The winning mindset from a career perspective plays a certain tune - work hard, smarter, focus, commit, be loyal, compete, win etc .. this tune became embedded into my psyche over many years.. I preached it, I believed it.. it took time and effort to recognise the ‘rat race’ shit head mindset that has dominated my life. I am still trying to unwind it, trying to laugh at the old me, to appreciate the moment and generally live a more balanced life.

    Welcome to the "you do you" culture. Your feelings aren't always valid. Feelings can be wrong. Doing what only makes YOU happy is not a great example to your daughter. Marriage is not disposable or shouldn't be treated like it is. Marriage is work and you don't always FEEL happy. Sometimes it's hard but that's why you fight and compromise and care how the OTHER PERSON (spouse) feels. You put others before yourself. Now obviously it should go without saying; if your being abused that's not healthy but most people are ending marriages out of pure selfishness and FEELINGs. It's sad for the children these days.

    I was diagnosed with BiPolar II Rapid Cycling and Severe General Anxiety Disorder 30 years ago. I tried microdosing shrooms, but the "fresh snowfall" you mentioned did nothing in the long run. Short term, yes; long term, no. Eventually, I chose to change my diet completely, walk for a minimum of 40 minutes per day (I now walk a minimum of 2 hours per day), and meditate twice a day while employing Carl Jung's "Exposure Therapy" method to deal with my trauma head-on. That was a year ago. I've lost 18% of my weight, my BiPolar medication has been eliminated (with my doctor's guidance), my antianxiety medication has been reduced by 90%, my anxiety only bothers me during the most stressful situations in life (and even then, I just take 2 vitamin B2 capsules, and it goes away within 3 minutes), my "brain fog" is completely gone, my resting heart rate has reduced to 59 (it used to be 71), and my blood pressure has reduced to the point where my doctor weaned me off BP medications. I am *NOT* saying this will work for everyone, nor am I saying this method is a cure for anything. But I did it with no shrooms, no weed, no alcohol, no tobacco ... I even eliminated caffeine and all other intoxicants (e.g. sugar, carbs) over a period of 3 months. I haven't felt this good in three decades. I'm glad you feel microdosing is helping you, but is it really, or is it possible that microdosing is is merely masking the root of the problems like any other medication?

    Any actual study on microdosing mushrooms shows that it's placebo effect. Some people believe that the actual benefit from psilocybin shrooms is the experience itself, so if you're not experiencing anything directly (trip), any benefit is placebo. I'm just not convinced.

    • @MrTolli
      @MrTolli 4 месяца назад

      I wonder the same. I do feel some benefits from actual trips, good or difficult. But after microdosing for a while I cant say I felt the same benefit. But what did happen tho is I suddenly got hospitalized with innflammation on my heart sac. If this may or may not be related to microdosing I do not know, but some new research (i cant find the source again, but will post if i do) has shown some effects of long term microdosing and heart conditions. Dont take my word on this cause I can be totally wrong and this is not related at all as the research is still fresh. But it made me think. I will stick to my regular trips once in a while and DMT.

    Her stats her wrong : 40-45% of marriage end up in divorce in Europe, so a bit less than half… those who divorce tend to do so because of infidelity, loss of trust for whatever reason or some type of dysfunctional behavior. Those who stay married, manage to do so because they actually have moral compatibility and a life vision that aligns. Just say your life plans didn’t make sense anymore and no one was willing to compromise without having fear of resentment
