What you're seeing in this video is the re-introduction of low intensity ground fire onto the landscape. As seen in the video, the fire is consuming ground fuels, and not reaching into the canopy of the forest. Many times, using low-intensity, non-destructive fire is the best way to stop a bigger fire. The Little Yamsay Fire is a lightning caused wildfire that presents such an opportunity. For thousands of years, low impact fire burned with some regularity, removing woody debris and improving the health of larger trees, and forests are adapted to this. The rapid suppression of any and all wildfires in the last 100 plus years has resulted in overgrown forests, which are partially contributing to the historically damaging wildfires we have seen recently. The initiative on the Little Yamsay Fire may prevent the spread of a large and destructive wildfire when conditions are hot and dry. Thank you for your interest!

@fulomtheavali I didn't end up going to forestry I did carpentry. Didn't want to stay for it. Carpentry is better imo

Yo I work in the bly ranger district but I got certified through a contract company this seemed far more extensive and thorough training than what I got it's my 4th season wildland fire fighting school but makes me wanna take guard school haha
