Welcome to Ladies in the Yard,
This channel was created to document the lawn care projects, adventures and misadventures of building my dream home in rural Georgia. I'm a lady and did all of the landscaping to save money. I have cut trees, moved boulders, burned brush, laid a paver patio, planted a garden and seeded my lawn to name a few. I have a large yard and usually cut it with a push mower!
Please subscribe and follow me as I navigate through the work and play that comes with living on my little urban farm. I'll take you next door to check out the family bees and pull honey from the hives. We can stroll down to my lakeside patio and catch a fish...maybe toss it on the grill. I'll show you how I pump water from the lake to water my grass. We might even do some pistol shooting from the patio. And if we're lucky, my 83 year old grandmother might come over and play some blues on her bass guitar!
Warmest regards,
Chitan

Satisfying mulch mow leaf cleanup on tractor
This was the final cut for my centipede grass and the first mulching of the season. In my opinion, there are never too many leaves to mulch.

DIY IRRIGATION PUMP SETUP - FREE WATER for lawn or garden using Harbor Freight sprinkler pump
Просмотров 18 тыс.2 года назад
This is how I've watered some of my lawn for the last two tears. It's just a 1hp Harbor Freight sprinkler pump with two water hoses, two sprinklers, some pvc pipe and a foot valve with a sock over it. I have a long extension cord connected from it to a surge protector so I can turn it on from the patio because it stays down by the lake under a plastic bin. I know there are tons of ways this cou...

I created this channel to document the adventures and misadventures of building my dream home in rural Georgia! There's been a lot of blood, sweat and a whole lot of tears! The journey was long, but it's still not over. Please subscribe so you can see where I've been and where I'm going. #diylawncare #modernfarmhouse
Very well-done video and thoroughly explained. It was exactly what I was looking for and I will run mine just the same as you did yours. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this video... it helped me tremendously.
“Make do with you you got!” I hear ya. Good job.
Filtering is my biggest problem. What type of sock do you use?
The sunny areas will be much harder to get the seed to germinate as it dries out. The shaded area it should pop up quicker in theory
@ladiesinyard can you tell me how you initially got this pump primed please? 🥺 I've got a inch intake hose direct to pump, everbilt 1inch foot valve at end it doesn't seem to suck any water. I've added water to the pump itself via the intake plug but it just pumps that water out and won't suck from hose. Any help would be appreciated 😊. Or maybe you can point me to video that shows how to prime - thank you 🙏
Thank you! This is exactly the info and easy set up I was looking for. Great idea. By they way gorgeous lake front property, so peaceful
Well done! Thank you for taking the time to shoot and edit video and explain so well. Is that "tractor" sprinkler coming from another source such as a well or public water? Would this pump power that tractor sprinkler
Thank you! Simple system and you gave us the details we need. I appreciate you.
How nice, my seeds took about 2-3 weeks to sprout in late october to november. Its not mid december and it looks like yours!
Seed earlier... You might had better coverage when it was rye seed but fescue takes longer.
Don't wait to long to start cutting, otherwise it grows to wild.
Best feeling lol
Thanks for sharing !!! This is my next project using water from our lake for irrigation to my garden and backyard !!! ❤😀✅
I appreciate this video so much!
Thanks for making this video I'm having a house built the pond is about 70 feet away from the house think I could keep the pump at the house and run the inlet pipe 70 feet to the waters edge? Looking to also run 2 sprinklers
Question please! I planted 80 LB bag all over my property and as it came up I see bald spots everywhere 2 weeks after it started coming up, My question is will K31 TF spread/multiply into the bald spots or do I need to buy more ?
K31 growth is bunching, not spreading, so you would need to buy more seed. It doesn't spread out like Kentucky Bluegrass but it also doesn't take as much water or fertilizer
Ugh k31 I planted is nasty ! May have to get rid of it
Boom!😂👍
Awesome setup! How long do you normally run the sprinklers each time?
I love the idea that you use socks to filter mud. That is my biggest problem.
Do you think instead of a sprinkler I could hook up a pressure washer to this set up?
I haven’t watched yet but you need like 40 psi supply to the pressure washer, should say in the manual, if you can get that to the washer it provides the rest of tge pressure
I wouldn’t do that. They make a pump with a pressure tank all in one. I would use that instead. This pump is meant to always have flow and it’s not meant to build much pressure.
I have so many questions💁♀️ Is this a private lake? Is it spring fed? Love the video but not sure that's legal to do. I think you need a permit from the DNR. Can you imagine if everyone pumped the water out of the lakes to irrigate their lawns?
Great video. Much appreciated
Good vid. Love your vintage Braves hat.
So I just planted a fescue blend and a lot of it is coming in purple/reddish and I’m panicking lol. Is this normal for fescue, how did your yard turn out?
Gorgeous property you have
me thinks it's the water
The AT&T people left a mess in my newly seeded lawn installing a fiber optic line. I was so mad, are they not supposed to call you first or something?
That is terrible. I hate that they tore up your yard, but I wish I had your problem. I'm too far out in the country to even be considered for fiber. I would suggest calling them to complain. When they installed my electric power lines, they had to cut down a lot of trees. They left some of the stumps pretty tall, so I called and they came back out to make them short like all of the other ones.
how much damage is done to the baby grass when you spread the starter?
I haven't noticed any damage, but it does push the existing grass if you put it down at the same time as the seeds...that's why I wait until the new grass sprouts.
I'm here! Looking forward to this journey with you!!
Glad to have you here!
Loving your channel so far. I ran across it looking for gardening videos. I am a Chef that relocated to Georgia about 5 years ago so that I could start growing my own food. I absolutely love it. I just picked that last of my chocolate bell peppers for a dish that I was preparing. I love nature so I am definitely going to subscribe to your channel.
Wonderful, so glad you found me. Are you a private chef or do you work at a facility? Would love to support.
Ooooh beautiful property! Did someone say fishing? 🤣👍🏽🤘🏽
Thank you kindly. And yes fishing. I don't fish as much as I should, but that's gonna change😉!
Good job? Looking good. I overseed my lawn almost every fall. Lately I've been using United Seed Co turf type tall fescue. It generally sprouts in about 5-6 day's.
Thanks so much. I would love to try another cultivar next year. I will definitely keep that in mind.
I planted barenbrug rtf. sprouted in 4 days
Where that garden at? Let’s go!
It's coming! Time to switch crops in a couple of boxes. Collards on deck!
Awesome, Chitan! I can’t wait to learn your gardening secrets. Although the slithering reptile got me a little shook.😮🫣
So glad to have you here and I can't wait to share! Btw, I had to include that snake lol. They are out here, but they've been out of sight lately.
I will be building on my 8 acres soon. We have a stream too! Maybe I can catch some fish, but the 🐍 OMGEE!! 😂😂
That's awesome and I hope you catch some fish!!! Over time you realize that the snakes want to avoid you as much as you want to avoid them.
Looking forward to watching your journey!
Thanks Tina 😀!!! It's all about the journey!
Great stuff, I look forward to seeing more!
Thank you 😀!
Good stuff! Awesomeness!
Thank you ☺️!
Love this! Thanks for sharing Chitan!
