Waiting for the Train
The morning didn't go as planned. After missing a 5am bus that caused me to miss the train to Montreal, I had to wait two hours for the next trail. What did I do during the wait?
I was still able to make it in time to get on my bike and ride to Morin Heights. The wait was worth it!

Are you thinking of immigrating to Peterborough? Why don't you let someone that grew up here locally completely debunk this video. 1 Multi-cultural - Nope. Peterborough is 90% white and 40% racist. The exception is the 10 block areas around Fleming College (in the far west side of town) and Trent university (in the far far North end of town). 2 Town Activities - In this video, you are shown ALL of Peterborough's interesting spaces. If you show up to them, you will realise, 'Oh, I already saw this on the video. And everything around it is falling apart. 3 Immigrant entrepreneurship - True. This is because every child that grows up in this city is exposed to so much vitriol, hate and nepotism that they cannot justify staying in the city. 4 Business community - A stuckup group of arrogant anti-consumer white men in their 70's is trying to attract immigrants with money to come to the city because they've bled their own community dry. 5 A short drive from - This town is in the middle of nowhere. There's 3 buses a day that leave the city and 2 of them only make a round trip to the college campuses in Lindsay. Toronto is kind of close in that you can get there in about 2 hours by car, Ottawa is 6 hours away, and Montreal is 10 hours. If you plan to leave the city for a day trip, be prepared to deal with 'slightly' racist country bumpkins in every direction until you hit a large body of water. 6 A Small City - It's too big to be called a town, but not big enough to hold any political influence provincially or federally (except on farming matters). 7 A Natural Environment - Okay, this is legit. There's literally (and I mean literally) trees everywhere. Like, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think we decided to build a town here and just said screw it, we aren't cutting these trees down - there's too many. Let's just build around them. 1:30 This part about word-of-mouth advertising if just blatantly false. Very few people will go somewhere because they hear good things. Word-of-mouth is only how bad advertising happens here. Do not rely on this. This is basically the town saying you don't need to advertise because gossip will bring people to your store. Yeah. For like 2 months, after that people are talking about the dirty floors, or the burnt out lights or how you smelled rat poop in the bathroom. Word-of-mouth advertising has been a constant push in this community for years and it's all bogus. Ultimately, my final impression of Peterborough is that it's similar to Toronto, but businesses close by 5 on a Friday, the air is cleaner, 80% of the population is over 60 years old and nobody that grew up here likes it.

I stayed in Peterborough for a year in 1967. I worked at Towers store just outside of town and also The Bond clothing store for awhile too. The year I was there it was very hot in the summer and the coldest day in the winter was 30 below. I purchased a Pontiac Strato Chief from Keith Brown Motors. I enjoyed my time there but didn't like the freezing rain or the snow. I would love to go back for a visit but much of it has changed from when I was there. Like everywhere else I suppose. Some fond memories and a few bad ones, but overall a good place to have been to.

Why can we not have European migrants? We are the people who built the city, established this community, made it what it is, but you make no mention of us in this video. Why is this video leaving out Scotland, Ireland, England ? We are welcoming. We are friendly. We are 93.6 % white. Would it be ok if we were represented in videos like this?
