Peter Mazza Lick

"Peter Mazza Lick" from last week's class; a way cool ii-v-iii-vi-ii-v-i in C that I modified a bit to get a descending bassline over the last bit.
Chord Wall Ballad

"Chord Wall Ballad" I took another study in the book by Bret Willmott, "Mel Bay's Complete Book Of Harmonic Extensions For Guitar", this one is called Chord Wall Ballad, and notates chords played as a guitar duo; one set of lower and one set of lower voices. I looped the lower ones, played the uppers over it and added some single note lines after. I hope you enjoy this one.
All The Looped Things You Are

"All The Looped Things You Are" is an experiment that came to me while watching the Jets and Bills football game; I made a bassline with the octave thingy on my effects thingy, then looped a chorus of chords from the book "Mel Bays Complete Book Of Harmonic Extensions For Guitar", by Bret willmott, then I traded 4 bar lines with my good friend Lord Leroy von Fishbladder, who unfortunately for h...

"Like Someone In Love", by Jimmy Van Heusen.....hey!!! That's me and Shorty!!!! Another fabulous gluten-free backing track from Phil Wilkinson.
Standard Thing

"Standard Thing" is what Bret Willmott calls his chord studies on "All The Things You Are", in his book, Mel Bay's Complete Book Of Harmonic Extensions For Guitar", which I have been studying assiduously. The studies are just presented as half-note chords, so I tried to play through them and make them a bit more rhythmic and melodic. I hope you enjoy it.
It Could Happen To You

"It Could Happen To You"; yes, it could, but if it does, get to the emergency room.... This is all I can do today, Dec. 27th, so I will have some ice cream and go ahead. While I am having "those kind of dreams", I hope you enjoy this little video.
A Select Number Of The Things You Are

"A Select Number Of The Things You Are". I never get tired of playing ATTYA; so many options. This one is dedicated to our Kitkat, Boyfriend, as she had to stay in the basement for all the Christmas activities due to a relative's allergy. Her mewing knotted my tummy, so here it is.
Highly Unacceptable Blues

"Highly Unacceptable Blues". Now that Christmas is passed and I suitably spoiled my kids and grandsons, its time to get back to my 24/7 practice schedule. What better way to start a midday break than by making up something that includes all the things you know you shouldn't be playing, that will make men in bowties cluck their tongues, and make maidens run for the safety of locked doors? OK, I ...

Christmas Time Blues

"Christmas Time Blues". I have been quite depressed ever since I learned which was up and which was down (I DO stay well medicated), and the Christmas holiday time is often more stressful and depressing than the rest of the year; easy to get caught up in thinking about what you DON'T have, feeling left out of social circles, seeing so much phony "happiness" projected all around, so I made a kind...
I Fret For Bret

"I Fret For Bret" I have mentioned that I have been fascinated by the book by Bret Willmott, "Mel Bay Complete Book Of Harmonic Extensions For Guitar". In today's practice, I made a loop of his first 2 selections of extensions over "All The Things You Are" and just went with the changes. I hope you enjoy it.

Hapy New Year James! Hope you heal soon and looking forward to more guitar videos!
Thank you!!!
happy new year, thanks for the jams and the thoughts this year! sending over good energy for the hand!
Thank you!!!
I agree brother. I do hope we have a good year. And thank you. And happy new year to you.
Amen!
I am 15 and all I do is play instruments, says something about how I'll be when I retire I guess
As long as you enjoy it, and enjoy the work/progress, GO FOR IT!!!!
Sounds great!
Thank you very much!!
Hope 2025 is a great year for you, man! A break is the perfect time to work on theory and arrangement/composition techniques! 😊 Also have you tried Chinese meditation balls for the hand issue?
Thank you!!! No, this irritation in my hand is something that just started this week, so I still have not explored much, but that you for that guidance.
Way nice!!!
Thank you very much, and Happy New Year!!
Thank you James
Thank YOU and Happy New Year!!
Yippedy doodle brother
I'll second that! Happy New Year!
Nice ... Sounds like an ECM record ...
Thank you!!! Yeah, it kinda does sound like ECM!
I got busy for a week or so, came back, and you got all these new videos. I love this nylon string guitar. Great playing!
Thank you!! Since my kids are all in their 30's, I had much less Christmas activities to take care of, so now its YOUR turn to shine with some cool vids!
The head has T. Monk vibe. I think this tune is very acceptable. Lol
Thank you!!!! Yes, Monk is a total inspiration to me; this one already has 2 "Dislikes", so I'm rubbing somebody the wrong way!!! 🤣🤣
liked your guitar cover performance James ,,,,,,,,,,,,,greetings Renee
Thank you and Happy New Year!!
I do believe that you've fallen off your looper rocker sir...haha interesting work. I enjoyed as always
Been off my rocker since 1953!!!!! Thank you!
Very relaxing, James. I think my favorite Jazz guitarist is Wes Montgomery. But you have perfect feel for the genre. Excellent work.
Hee Hah!!! Thank you!!
I'm a recent sub and just wanted to say thanks. I look forward to enjoying more of your riffs rolling through my feed in the new year. It'll be 2568 for Buddhists like me. Happy New Year!
Wow!!!! THANK YOU!!!! Happy 2568 to you!!!
I did enjoy listening, always
Yay!!
Guitar tone reminds one of Django a bit.
That's one I've not heard; thank you!!
What's your thinking behind with the chords around 2:03? It sounds outside and cool!
I had to listen to it about 5 times to tell what it was!! hawhawhawhawhaw!!!!! It was an F# MiMa7th chord moved up and down in minor thirds. To make this chord shape, start with a first inversion F# major 7th shape; A#, F#, C#, E#, 6th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd strings (6,4,6,6 in frtes). Then lower the 6th string to A natural, and you have F# MinorMajor 7th. Move it up a minor 3rd, then back, then up again where you like it.
@@JamesSeaberry Nice, thank you!
what are the chords you are playing after 3:51 ?
I have no idea what they would be called; I had to go back and listen as this was all improvised and I didn't have any pre-set arrangement. What I was doing there was playing 2 or 3 note intervals, picking a chord tone ( say, B or F on a G7th, then adding another note that creates dissonance without regard for whether that 2nd note is in the scale of the chord or not. If you like playing in intervallic ways like this, try my good friend: davidoakesguitar.com/
@@JamesSeaberry Nice! I was basically looking for an answer like this! The shapes looked like 3rd and 7th. You are also doing half step approaching I think, right?
@@mazeofamazement You are correct!! One thing I like to do is; play a G7 at the 3rd fret. F, B, D, G, 4th string to 1st. Now lift the second string so you have F, B, openb, G. Now lower the 3rd string B to Bb, and now you have a crazy dissonant chord shape that you can move up and down the fretboard and get some crazy sounds that still sound like G7th.
@@JamesSeaberry I see, I got the idea (I just tried) thanks!
@@mazeofamazement Always glad to share the things that others have inspired me to find!!
Nice arrangement and interesting chord choices. Great job!
Thank you!!!

Thank you very much!!
Cooking up those hot licks. Is that Mrs. Seaberry on the Hammond B3?
Sounds great!🌞. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Jazz has some of the oddest time signatures in music. You’ve obviously been playing a long time. Excellent work! Subscribed.
Thank you, and Happy New Year, Sir!!! Yes, I started playing guitar in 1970 when I was a lowly college student. I played trumpet before that, but girls didn't pay attention to trumpet players; the switch didn't help, but I didn't care. I was hooked on this thing!!
@ lol that’s cool 😎
@@JamesSeaberry I picked up the guitar at 15. 17 years later and I’m still not very good. But I’m self taught. For me, I needed to get some of these strong emotions out.
@@andrewwabik5125 Yes, I was self-taught until just a few years ago when I started taking lessons online. Too stubborn to have done it long ago. Its all about saying who you are at that moment. Moments change.
@ agreed. I’ve always been stubborn and willful. I’ve played with some friends over the years, but I prefer to do it on my own. If only I could sing, 😝
A groovy kind of Christmas tune! I enjoyed listening😊
Happy New Year to you!
You still have us - the great social circle of RUclips fans. Maybe Christmas is not supposed to be televised, but Telecastered instead. Merry Christmas and I hope Santa will reward you appropriately for this performance!

Yes i saw that. Its unbelievable

Wow, James its wonderful to know you are a man. Thank you for your respect in women.
The disrespect for half the makeup of every man just got to be too much with the way this story, especially, is just shrugged off.
@JamesSeaberry I could not say in words the type of man she married. He was not a husband though and those persons were not men. I just hope the lady has been freed. I hope she can mend some from that type of life.
@@pbenson56fran She fought to get them all convicted, so she is trying. I'm just appalled at how cavalier mens' response to this has been.
