so ive just realized that i now own that Subaru legacy that is my car someone has abused it a bit since this was filmed but exact same spec colour and number plate
Feisty performance and a cavanous rear, sounds like my ex
Good look getting an 850r like that for £1500 nowadays! ☺️
I think I've got the last cheap fast-ish estate. It's a 2006 Laguna Sports Tourer. 2.0L petrol turbo manual. 205bhp. The mental used car market probably hasn't increased its value due to badge snobbery. Less than 90K on the clock and fully loaded.
Sounds like trash
Also that 9 second 0-100 time is trash. It looks so ugly lmfaoo. That’s why no one wants and the price hasn’t gone up

Subaru for all day
Where can i get this?
I can't remember bow it was a forum I used mate. Sorry might still be around.
How dare they compare the legacy to these cars
subaru much better
RS6 is anything but cheap, lmao .. every single part of the RS6 costs A LOT. From these 3 ..the Subaru is the best choice for sure.
Love the fact the only thing they could point out on the subaru was the normal consumerable parts, japanese barn door engineering you cant ever go wrong with 👌
that specb is so pretty i want it
ruclips.net/video/84S12Aq0SwU/видео.html My Subaru Outback
No comments 😕 for one year
It happens. It was on Facebook where it got most responses 🤷♂️
I’m here
top gear is better tbh this makes me bored
I've got a wrecked Spec B. I took the suspension off, brakes and put them on my 2.5 estate. Now it handles and stops unbelievably well. I have the front bumper and wheels for future use on mine too. My son took the engine out and fitted into a blown blob eye 2.0 Impreza. Should be nippy and sound like a Porsche.
That’s exactly what i’m doing for my 2007 2.0r. Can’t wait to drive it
Subarus are so, so good for this.
@@Nbomber Subaru Legos :)
1,500 for an 850r. I cry from my sh*thole country :(
They've gone up in price.
Yeah, Tiff. Let me know when you find that 10 000£ factory manual C5 RS6. I'll pay 12 000£ for it.
it was 10k just because it was autotragic
£1500 for an 850r. Ha, what a time. You'd be lucky to get a good one for £8k now!
Yes true Bro...8k -12k£ for nice one.in eastern Europe its between 6k€ and 20k for nice modified one. Very good and Quick cars...My old one was doing 100-200 in 9.5 sec....385hp...all day long 7 days a week. 13 years ago..🤣🤣🤣
8k? one was up for sale for $30k in australia a couple years ago
It’s f*cking ridiculous
@@anmolsaxena_ try 35k... really thought it would be a cool first car.
It’s unbelievable how Top Gear-like Tiff remained
Yeah.. If you're testing a RS6 with a manual, you are not testing a RS6..
Or u testing the tuner spec...
There never was a Manual C5 RS6. Not sure what he's on about.
Take the Volvo over the other two hands down. It’s a tank that handles. The other two are flimsy wannabes that cost too much to maintain.
Good luck replacing those camchain tensioners in the RS6. Because you will be. Engine out? Yup. Megabucks? Yup.
Yup, just like super reliable H6 HG failures ... Engine out and bye bye holidays 😢
1500 for a 850R!!!!!
Audi yes Volvo yes Urabus no
why not?
I've had all 3 as company cars All 3 same models and specifications.. almost identical. The Subaru was the only one that gave a problem. I worked for a motor dealer who sold all 3 brands in Australia. New south Wales. I was a service manager for 12 years. The volvo was front wheel drive madness and just cool. The Audi was next level fast at the time. The Subaru was just a Subaru. I only took it because I couldn't get a WRX. none in stock at the time
@@lukestocks4370 maybe problems with maintance. Atleast cars here in east eu is very nicely mantained. actually the audis here are in worse condition than subarus
@@HardLordd could be true. But they are all shit compared to the Australian Ford Falcon anyway witch will do 1m or so kilometres. I have 7 of those
@@lukestocks4370 not better in everyway. Subaru has great offroading capabilities, whereas Falcon hasn't.
I thought the RS6 was an auto box only?
It is. Tiff is talking tosh
Try finding a 850 r for 1500 quid now
True ... even a well presented one is over 8k now .
Maybe if I watch this, Subaru will see it too...learn something, then decide to bring it back and improve on it. There is nothing wrong with a Legacy Wagon STi Type RA/S210 etc. I would go back to 2005 and buy either the Legacy GT Spec B or the GT wagon (5M/6M).
Yeah, that's not happening. We may get a Levorg on the Global Platform, one day.
When an audi rs6 avant becomes a cheapskate alternative to a ford transit van.
Facts
5k for a spec b, congrats!
Subaru all day
Loving the fact we got the ej20 turbo in australia, awesome car
Even better we got the ej257
@@michaelhall2228 The EJ20 turbo was actually more reliable though like with the oil squinters in cylinder 4 which fixes the Ringland issues.
@@michaelhall2228 EJ25 is quite awful long term tho. 2.0L is infinetly more reliable nad got more advanced twinscroll turbo. No ringland problems, no headgasket issues, its slightly lighter and more economical too and lower taxes too as insurence companies add scammy price hikes for cars above 2.0L displacement. EJ25 is not worth all this trouble.
1:40 That 850R is LPG?
Yup, they love IT!
neat
I have a 4th gen legacy gt. Have to say I've paid for it twice since purchase with all the add ons
hahaa, maybe in England. Try finding an RS6 here in Norway for the same price=DD
Or try fining a spec B Legacy at all..
@@andersbjrnsen7203 that car is so rare youd have better luck finding diamonds in your backyard while cutting the grass=D
The legacy actually has one other thing that goes wrong with them. It’s probably the most expensive part.. Head gaskets. Once you cook a h6 engine it can lead to head leaks. The second most expensive is the bilstein suspension. They’re a monotube inverted design which they’re great fun to drive on, they typically leak in the rear. A way to check is to look underneath for oil around the bottom hats and go over speed humps to see if it’s too bouncy or knocking.
I thought the H6 was much less prone to head gasket failure than the EJs. The head gasket on my EJ251 from 2000 is starting to bite the dust
H6 head gaskets don't go until you are well into 200k mile range just like the old EJ22 would do. Turbo EJ25 is the same; But naturally aspirated EJ25 head gaskets blow every 100k miles. Which granted is bad but it isn't horrible. It takes 5-10 years to drive 100k miles and that is probably going to be the only repair with these cars as they are otherwise very reliable.
Very rare for a H6 to have the headgasket to start leaking. Mainly the front timing cover and cam cases will leak
My H6 head gaskets started leaking at 180kms. Also had to replace struts amongst other things.
I got a Subaru Outback 3.0r legacy and I love it .
I am buying one this week. anything to look out for?
Check the wheel bearings and look at the serpentine belt and the idlers they are known to go bad . Other that that it’s all good
@@TProfileG Way too late but standard of front exhaust is important too, comes with 3 catalytic converters, two of which are replaced as a pair.
I would go with a Subaru. But those are all great wagons
Legacy is great sleeper 👍 and with proper exhaust sounds amazing
So if i want to have a fraction of the Transit performance I should buy a used RS6 ... fuck logic :D
👌🏻🔥🔥🔥
Volvo r £1500 were?
DANI swift sweden...
+Alfons Samuelson get them bought and sell abroad there a fortune here
This programme was aired many years ago. Wished I'd got an RS6 then, look at the prices now!
In junkyards around the world.
A manual C5 RS6 hey? And the Legacy shares the same chassis as the Impreza? 5th gear really dont do well on facts do they.
TheOriginalBRad the Impreza never 'shares' the platform with the legacy - usually, imprezas use a modified version of a past legacy, so at any one point an impreza will not have the same chassis as the (at the time) current legacy.
Rather have a legacy r spec b than any other car its amazing people think it's just a saloon
I have a Spec B Twinscroll, which is the best of the bunch I feel. It has 280bhp and all the toys. Imported, but well maintained, has specific boot tray with SUBARU written on it for my dogs, specific SUBARU dog guard, etc, etc. All these things that the likes of BMW, Audi, etc, etc simply do not offer anywhere. The car has the air intake on the bonnet too. Looks the dogs, are quite rare, have technology on them that many cars today I feel lack and the list is endless. I will though have a grinding noise that I think is a spring in the front right checked out again though. It was repaired, but come back again. Not sure what it is yet.
They've never made a b6 RS6 manual. Get your facts straight guys.
Ruben van der Vliet haha, I paused the video just after he said that and came straight ti the comments
B6 is an a4
its c5 not b6...
Get your facts straight? Haha... But seriously, NONE of the RS6 models were ever available as manuals.
@@DiscoFang easy conv is to put in 6spd man from c5 2.7tt
Wrong. Legacy is its own chassis with WRX STi suspension & refined gearbox
Best let Tiff and the crew at 5th gear know then. He clearly says it sits on a WRX chassis in the video.
Gambit Subaru Most accurately, The WRX/STi used a updated legacy chassis at its refresh. When that era of legacy was launched it was quite a bit better than the WRX platform. Less weight on the nose, rear suspension that works, and stiffer. The US Legacy GT with 250hp 2.5L was faster on a race track out of the box than the 300hp 2.5L STi of the same year. Thats before you do sticky tires and stiff suspension.
xt6wagon I'm not trying to be rude mate. But the whole chassis thing is getting pretty dull for me. I like all subaru's even if the Impreza is my main choice I'd happily own a Forester STI or a Legacy Twin turbo. I've had a few. But in all honesty I don't work for subaru I don't declare I know the full chassis or mechanics of Subaru and the cross between models. I never have nor will I. I just know what he says on the video. As I said before feel free to let Fifth gear know by all means. I am a subaru fan but I like many other cars too, and the legacy in the video I know the owner and the car. So was only posted for entertainment value really.
Is the supension too stiff in speedbumpers and bad roads?
I have spec b Legacy it’s not the best for bad roads but it won’t loosen your fillings
majik! d;0)
Hello mate :D
o god that profile pic on that forum is really disturbing.
Haha It's good isn't it ;)
Gambit Subaru it is haha. it made me cringe and laugh at the same time.
Be amazed how many people think it's actually me. Mind you not sure thats a good thing surely nobody with a sane mind wouldn't want to people to think that haha.
I'd agree I can do it from the comfort of my own home costs me less and I don't have to worry about the damage to a car ;)
this is better than real race :))
