It feels like Truth was the one who died on High Charity and Mercy took over, it seems way too zealous in the way he talks for Truth.

I know a lot of people prefer Halo 2's Truth, and while I like him I always thought he was a tad boring when compared to Halo 3's, maybe i'm biased having grown up playing 3 but his voice sounds deranged in such a perfect way and the way he's written is just so different that really compliments his new voice.

When you think about it Truth is literally the Adolf Hitler of the Halo universe, Like him he takes everything it could to accomplish his goals even wiping out his rivals and is also fixated with the Great Journey like Hitler's fascination with the supernatural

Truth in Halo 2 is great because of his Machiavellian personality and goals to take the Covenant as his own, especially when all his interactions are with his fellow Prophets and Covenant pawns. Halo 3’s Truth is the other side of that coin because instead of lying to his subjects, he’s confronting his enemy. One that he hates for the sole reason of them being chosen as reclaimers over him. That hate, ironically born from his knowledge of the Forerunner’s Truth, is palpable till the bitter end with every line he speaks
