You can put something in the place of the silhouette sold item in the black market. The space is only obstructed if the item didn't sell. Also, could you test something? In the black market can you see if the magnifying glass will work without buying it?

I do wish the game was a little bit less dependent on micro-management... Let's look at the food situation. For one, they could add an option to automatically choose the best crops to grow for the biom, but leave you an option to override if you need something specific. Another good one would be to add an option to have the kitchens switch to producing other types of food if they run out of ingredients, for example it can be a ranked list with meals, their priority, and the allowed/forbidden toggle. This way you could have a kitchen specializing in cooking a specific meal, but also have a few backups allowed in case there are no ingredients to cook the primary dish. And they definitely should fix the issue where people are starving to death when there is food available. If there should be a punishing mechanic there, then it should be akin to travel distance having a negative effect on happiness or productivity, but not starvation :\

Can you utilize the "don't have"? Like when you're 2 seconds from the person leaving and you don't have time to sift through the passes, click it? Call them the next day or in that brief window of calm. Also, it doesn't seem like boarding passes are even worth the size and amount you inquire. 5-15$ seemingly for over a suitcase size of table taken.

For the boarding pass I think it's easier to go by the figures! There's some really recognizable monuments like New York, Paris and London
