The Bloodiest Battle of the Iraq War - Six Days in Fallujah - Operation Phantom Fury
Six Days in Fallujah is a tactical first-person shooter set during the Second Battle of Fallujah, one of the largest and bloodiest battles of the Iraq War. The game follows the United States Marine Corps' 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, as they battle the insurgency throughout the city of Fallujah.
Also known as Operation Phantom Fury, U.S. Marines, Army soldiers, and Iraqi forces launched a major offensive to retake the city, facing intense urban combat against well-entrenched insurgents. The battle was marked by house-to-house fighting, sniper engagements, and the use of improvised explosive devices.

This was probably my favorite mission of the game. I found out years later that I had a relative who flew on B-24s with the 461st Bomb Group, 15th Air Force in Italy. He was a flight engineer/Top Turret gunner just behind the pilot and co pilot. I’d like to think this mission was poetic in a way.

The BAR was originally designed as an Automatic Rifle so troops in WW1 could maintain MG on the advance. It was specifically built to be fired from the hip. Only after WW1 did the Army load it down with a bipod and a heavy buffer in the stock in an attempt to make it a light machine gun. Yet many vets tossed away the bipod immediately and fired the rifle from the hip or the shoulder. I’ve always wondered if they tossed the buffer as well. The BAR in WW2 didn’t have a semi-automatic setting, only Fast and Slow. Yet here he clearly says his rifle had a SA setting. The way the Slow fire control worked if you removed the buffer (which weighed about a pound) from the stock the rifle would fire Semi. I’ve always suspected that was something combat troops would do. The added weight wasn’t necessary, no one liked the Slow setting and it wasn’t reliable either.

I’m 41, I was a senior in high school on 9/11. In getting older you not only see how many people died that tragic day but how many of the survivors in a lot of ways died that day too. Unbelievable bravery meets the guilt of surviving. Our world hasn’t been the same since.

I will never forget, how can I? What a horrendous act of hatred! I was 45 at that time and watching the events unfold. Me and my coworkers were glued to the TV in the conference room. It's been 23 years, and I'm still angry about something horrible that I couldn't do anything to stop it. I'm still sorry for those who were victims, and the brave 1st responders. God be with all of you.

16:30 "Rescue Four to Manhattan, K." 2001 was one of the darkest years for Rescue Four. Prior to 9/11, Rescue Four had lost two men during the infamous Father's Day Fire in Astoria back on June 17th, 2001. Firefighters Harry Ford and Brian Fahey were the two men lost. On 9/11 itself, all hands were lost. Rescue Four dealt with Death in 2001, but it didn't let Death stop them in 2001; they kept going.

In my opinion a good film, and there aren't many good civil war films. It's heavy on soliloquies, and inaccurately portrays the Confederate motivation as mere "states rights" - a lost cause myth. Overall however, it is a decent film. Its prequel "Gods and Generals", which was released some years later, was so awfully filled with lost cause mythology that it has to be seen to be believed.

I was seven when this happened. A classmate’s father is a firefighter. The day after 9/11, he packed up his gear and the family dog (who was also trained in search and rescue) and headed to NY. Us kids weren’t told the gory details of ground zero, but we knew it had to be bad because we met the man before 9/11 when my classmate brought him for show and tell. Before, he was cheerful and talkative. After, he was more withdrawn and haunted. I don’t think firefighter training ever prepares you for something as massive and devastating as 9/11. These men are all heroes.

Why do conspiratologists keep claiming it wasn’t airplanes, or if t was, it wasn’t commercial jet liners? You can plainly see that it was commercial airliners. I’ve watched some documentaries that all show is citizen video catching the suicide/murdering terrorist from numerous angles of both planes hitting the towers over and over, all gifferent sides and views. American Airlines flight #11 hit the North Tower, then United Airlines flight #175 hit The South Tower. The 19 hijackers were clearly radicalized and weaponized jihadists who had taken Commercial airline flight training The terrorists involved in the September 11th attacks received their flight training at Huffman Aviation International, a flight school located in Venice, Florida. According to reports, Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi, two of the key hijackers, enrolled in the school and completed their pilot training there. Their identity is a fact. All 4 of those commercial flights had innocent American citizens on them, who made phone calls; spoke to, or left messages for loved ones. Crew members on the plane that hit tower 1, like Betty Ong and cabin crew can clearly be heard talking to the flight controllers….. Osama bin Laden 💯 claimed responsibility for it with Al-Qaeda. It’s crazy to me that conspiracy theorist still thrive on this today.
