    for my 17 forester XT i installed a sound ordnance under seat 8" woofer, but way less work than what you did. No taking off the passenger seat and no removing the headunit. i ran the remote turn on wire and fuse tapped it into the interior fuse box. the rca i connected to scosche loc80 which then posi tapped into the front passenger speaker wire, the power wire i ran through a rubber grommet throught the firewall to the battery. i'm trading in my xt for a 24 wilderness, so i'm going to repeat this exact process again.

    I am about to get this installed in my Crosstrek! I am also keeping the stock stereo. As we all know, the stock system is ass and rolls off around volume 22. When keeping the stock headunit, will this also cause the subwoofer to roll off at that point? Or will it get louder past that point since it has an amplifier?

    Looks like those dash speakers are 3ohm and the front doors are 3+1 Ohms. So if you've replaced stock ones 6Ohm in the dash and 4Ohm front you'll change the impedance to 1.7Ohm instead of factory 2.4Ohm (parallel connection). So I wonder whether this over time have not caused any issues to your HU because of the overdriving?

    Hey so I got a 2020 Subaru forester base model and it only has the stock 4 speakers and quite frankly, I like them! So I was wondering since my Subaru has the openings and the plugs for the front dashboard speakers, can I simply “plug and play” then with the single plug? Or do I need to connect it to other wires? I only see the main plug that connects to the speaker lol (also I’d be buying the OEM dashboard tweeters since I found them for a great price)

      @@readyreadyroling Do you have to remove the door panels to access the speakers in this forester model or was that for the deadening tape? I've never applied deadening material before, have you found it to be worth it?

      @@FetusMemories yes. You have to remove them to change the speakers. The panels don't just pop off unfortunately. I just did the deadening tape since it was recommended. There is a small difference. But not enough in my opinion to be worth the money.

    Thanks for posting this video, I will be replacing speakers in my crosstrek, which has the Harman Kardon setup, is there any reason other than cost you went with 3 Coaxial sets vs 2 Component sets? I would expect a bit more improvement using component speakers either form JL Audio, and others or some drop ins (on the front you can use the FOCAL ISTOY 690 for Toyota which comes with Tweeter and 6x9 that are nearly drop in for Subaru, no Metra Plugs/Adapter bracket kits needed. FOCAL also make some for the rear doors FOCAL ISTOY 165 or just a FOCAL coaxial. There is also a better sound deadening material form NOICO that is heavier weight than Dynamat. It worked great on my WRX when I did it. I tried it with my factory speakers and upgraded speakers and it helped the factory setup as well, better bass less road noise. How did you find the final system with the Sub compared to the original in terms of sound quality and bass, do you think it is now better than a factory H-K system?

    • @readyreadyroling
      @readyreadyroling 3 года назад

      I did 3 way coaxial for cost and ease of setup. A component would sound way better. And the speakers sound way better, especially after installing the sub. Sounds better than the harman kardon set up they sell in the upgrade kit.

    Thanks for the video. I Have the 2021 Crosstrek Outdoor Ed. and it has the same set up with the 8" screen and 6x9's up front with the 6.5's in the rear door and tweeters up top. I started the swap of the rear door speakers and got one done and put it all back together and to be totally honest....the factory speakers actually sounded better. I had the proper adapter for the door and also had foam speaker baffles and the new speakers ( 60w RMS MTX coaxial Terminators) sounded tinny and under powered. I was hoping the stock stereo would be putting out more power than it was. I am going to just leave the stock speakers in the car and add a Cerwin Vega Spare Tire sub and see if that is good enough for me. Thing that sucks is that I really cant figure out why the stock speakers sound better than aftermarket ones. Did you notice an actual difference swapping all the speakers out? Its hard for my brain to make sense of swapping speakers and it sounding better when the stereo is the thing that sends the power and if the speaker needs more power than you can send then you will be under powering that new speaker whereas the oem factory one is designed for that specific power output. Sorry for the essay but I guess in short, Im just curious if in the end you are happier with the new speakers or if the OEM set up actually sounded better overall ( at low, mid and high volumes). Thanks for your time.

    • @readyreadyroling
      @readyreadyroling 3 года назад

      So two takes on this. The factory cardboard speakers sound great at low volumes, however, once that cardboard gets moisture over time and it stretches, it will not sound good. My stock speakers didn't sound good over 30% volume and audio clipping would occur. I'm not familiar with the terminator speakers, but you can't go wrong with kicker, polk, jbl, or infinity. Mine certainly sounded better, but I also put some dynamat behind the speakers on the door panel to prevent vibrations, which is what you might hear. I also could not tell a difference until I hit above 30% volume. Also, the full sound of the car really did not improve until I added an underseat kicker subwoofer. I was very underwhelmed until I added that.

    • @readyreadyroling
      @readyreadyroling 3 года назад

      Also. I looked up reviews on those MTX speakers. Those are basically the lowest brand/quality speakers you could install. I hate to say it, but you can't replace crap with shiny crap.

      @@readyreadyroling that’s totally fair... I know they aren’t top end speakers but honestly thought they would be better than the terrible oem ones lol. @@readyreadyroling I’ve got an after market muffler delete already so rattling isn’t an issue for me haha... one word of caution with your Forester though... you should get some foam baffles (they are crazy cheap) to stop the water from your windows rolling down your door sill and soaking your nice new speakers. I took mine thru a car wash with the door panel off and was blown away by how much water comes rushing into every door when there is a lot of water thrown at it... it was soaking my feet... just as a heads up ;)
