Let’s not forget the batter even made the umpires look stupid. Which is not all that hard to do, actually. The pitcher will never forget this humiliation. Going from “fearless head hunter” to “ sad-sack chump” in one pitch is the only thing anyone, even his friends, will ever remember about him.

Even minor league umps suck. Major league umps are a disgrace to the game.

Don’t know what kind of hitter PCA is going to turn out to be, but the dude is a fire cracker. Is he a little over exuberant at times? Sure, but I will take that any day for a player who gives it his all every time he is on the field. Probably one of my top memories of an otherwise forgettable season for the Cubbies was PCA’s home run against the Astros. The Astros announcers were kind of giving him crap about not having a hit yet in the Bigs. What does he do? He turns around 96 mph deep into the right field bleachers. The crowd erupted and the Houston broadcast booth was dead silent as the ball easily cleared the wall. Beautiful.
