The silicone pads are great but pls stop cleaning by submerging the brushes in water. Water is getting up into the barrel which will eventually loosen the glue holding the bristles. Wet just the bristles with a soapy solution, use it on the pad that's not in water. If you need to you can rewet the bristles again. Laying them to dry is good, another option which is better is to hang them with the bristles down so any moisture can drain out.
